How is that? And just WTH is suddenly wrong with Texas? At Fouts they used to put Glory To The Green lyrics on the jumbotron and I did notice more sang as compared to when they don't put them on Apogees jumbotron. In some churches they also have hymnals for those who don't know all the hymns? Amazing concept to have lyrics available to those who need them? (I'm just a-funnin' with you, MeanGreenTexan) GMG!

TCU butt kisser Hal Jay of WBAP AM fame seems to all but be at a loss of words or at best a bit of a sarcastic snicker when anyone on that radio station (all but reluctantly) mentions that North Texas has a home game. He does not want any school to get a little pub or PR other than his precious TCU. Wonder if Shallow Hal actually thinks the entire North Texas Metroplex genuflects at the mere mention of TCU or that we all get on our prayer rugs and face our arses toward Fort Worth? Looks to me that Hal Jay and buds may be in for a long season after last night in Lubbock. Anyone glad we have 5 QB's on our team now? TCU is down to one and not a very effective one for their schedule. GMG

And the UNT pennant at top of the CUSA page has burnt orange letters on green? Did Craig Helwig put this graphic together? A Request: Someone on this board with real connections please have Apogee Stadium graphic crew put our alma mater and fight song lyrics on both scoreboards when the Green Brigade plays them at pre-game, right?

Balls? Hmmm? Students could have a "ball" with those balls bouncing around their entire section. Plus.....what other promotions are on the agenda tomorrow? Anybody know? Hank of the MGRN mentioned school buses full of kids for the Wing Zone. Wonder just how many they are really counting on for that? I wish they'd open up the Wing Zone for all kids 6 to 12 with a canned food item as their ticket for entrance for most any game. (Mom and/or Dad still have to purchase a ticket, though). Also...Is tomorrow Parents Day? UNT students + Their Parents ='s..............How many on Student Side?

TCU vs Tech..."Freshmen QB's Are Better Prepared"
PlummMeanGreen replied to FirefightnRick's topic in Mean Green Football
2 freshmen Tech QB's led the way to help the Red Raiders beat #24 ranked TCU. Did I hear it right that one of those 2 QB's was even a walk-on? -
I'd wager 20 years from now someone will be on one of these message boards asking the same question. I look back over 40 years now and see so many new faces who came to campus who brought their new ideas with them of which we all got to enjoy the changes that came along with them. Wonder if anyone ever tried to (dramatically) change a Texas Aggie former student's senior ring? A tweak here and there is fine, but some traditions you might want to respect and leave alone? What would be such a tradition for our school? Someone enlighten me.... I found out from a post last week that some even use different lyrics for our alma mater, ie, Glory To The Green. One might think if they put the lyrics on the Apogee jumbotron every Game Day that we would all be able to figure out on that alone which lyrics our present leadership actually wanst us to use when we sing it? GMG!

Sure Tulane will be a handful if our football team does not improve and stays the same, but I think they will improve with the talent I see plus we seem to have more team speed as well. So, yes, North Texas also has a lot of individual talent that I hope Coach Mac & Staff will have well meshed and working as a well oiled machine by the Tulane game. I like their chances to do just that, too. Lest some forget, we beat a ULaLa team with basically the same football team we have now just last Fall and I don't think Tulane could have stayed on the same football field with that Rajun Cajun football team; that is, a Rajun Cajun team who would go to a bowl and win their bowl last December. Will we ever be able to erase the past 8 years to move this thing forward for all our fans and alums respective's psyches is even a bigger question. I just have to keep the perspective that only a few of us on this board were either UNT students, alums or fans last time the Mean Green football program had 4 over winning seasons in a row as well as 5 out of 6 over .500. Funny how time slips away. It would be an understatement to say that we're all hungry for even better success than even that for our school's football program. No group would be as deserving for that to happen than our group. On the other channel, I did notice Texas Tech used 2 true freshmen QB's in their win over #24 ranked TCU (are their colors blue or purple & do they even know) as I watch a replay of that game even as I post. GMG!

Winning has been known to cure cancer which is what we really need to start doing regularly in MG Country. Plus the ones who would mail back their degrees probably haven't been back to campus since the day they graduated one might assume? Of course, we need everyone no matter their past history as a fan or alum. I started out as merely a curious fan who thought our stadium (Fouts) sucked big time but then I just plain got hooked on Mean Green football under the direction of Hayden Fry (who I knew about from his SMU days). Can't seem to shake this Mean Green fever all these years later, either. GMG!

K1, I think Hank mentioned on the Ohio U broadcast game up to 1,000 kids in the Wing Zone? I don't think I dreamed that. I don't mind any number of Denton area kids getting in the Wing Zone for free quite frankly. Anything to keep the NTVideo camera crew from showing Wing Zone empty seats in those game videos. As the the old dude said in The Green Mile....."Get em' while they're young?" Attendance For Saturday: 21,900...our fan base seems to be getting larger over the years for the most part (and I still think the UNT students will come through strong for alma mater--we must have the UNT student body en mass to increase our numbers significantly; and since about 37,000 of them can get in free with their ID)? Wonder how they will respond to our winning more than losing? GMG!

Q&A with Ball State beat writer Ben Breiner
PlummMeanGreen replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
I think the the latest weather forecasts for Saturday is the low 90's. Much of the game could be played in the mid to late 80's, though, since our hottest temps of the day don't max out until about 5 PM. IMHO, weather will not be a factor in this game. I would also wonder if Ball State has any key injuries?. Will their most famous alum, ie, Dave Letterman be at Apogee this Saturday, too? If so, should we leave him a ticket at Will Call?- 3 replies

I think we last played them during the Bill Blakely years, but (as always) I stand to be corrected.

UNT weighing options on Apogee alcohol
PlummMeanGreen replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
Alcohol inside Apogee would give some fans outside pre-game Apogee (where all the booz really is) a legitimate chance of sobering up? Just one of many thoughts on the subject. GMG!- 56 replies

UNT weighing options on Apogee alcohol
PlummMeanGreen replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
First Game Day beer is made available to our over 21 of age UNT students will be our first sellout at Apogee no matter what our W/L record has been of late; that is, unless we get Texas Tech, Baylor, TCU, UT, or TAMU on the home schedule soon. Some of you predict SMU will be our first sellout and that for next Fall in our (still) new'ish digs....we'll see. GMG!- 56 replies

Last game I followed about 15 of Zac Whitfield's family and friends into Apogee. The guy does have a serious fan club (of which many of us are part of it, too). Hang in there, Zac!

YOU gotta keep YOUR composure!

I'd prefer a Milky Way but lately I can't even have one of those sugar-infested delights. (If I say "sugar infested" it makes me want to avoid things I used to enjoy eating). CUSAbbs board mods had to tell all the East Carolina inbredded hillbillies who apparently had never seen a woman with all her teeth to quit putting all their half nekid bikini pics on their board because there were too many family types looking at their board. Not being bashful, I posted that they either insist their spouses be a bit more loving at bedtime (or anytime for that matter) or to just go to their local 7-11 and buy themselves a Playboy, but don't put their apparent extreme lack and apparent frustrations for not getting some "you know what"; nevertheless, please don't put their personal deficiencies of that part of lifes guilty pleasures (or maybe not that guilty) on a sports message board read by all ages. (I think a few of them actually did just that because................I no longer see those pics and there were some pretty healthy girls with great lungs capacity in some of them but...........there is a place and time for some things and advertising all that on a sports message board is probably not one of them but that............IMHO, of course). The ECU Horn Dogs (and I thought they were, uh, the Pirates)? Heck, it was getting to when I would go to McDonalds with my laptop I could't even pull up the CUSAbbs conference talk message part of their board without parents of young kids who'd walk by my table glancing at my computer thinking I was the local McPervert with all those half nekid girls that would pop up on most every thread I wanted to read. I'd have to look over my shoulders making sure there would be no parents (or kids for that matter) before I could even pull up most any thread. I would have to look over my shoulders so much that I go myself a McCrick in my McNeck; in fact, to be frank all that was becoming quite McFrustrating (and I know....don't call you Frank). A McSnickers? I remember them quite well. Darn shame when the foods you used to love to eat regularly can now shorten your life span or worse. Oh well some of us have to take the bitter without any semblance of sweet. RED ALERT! I will end with this: Some of you are Type 1 or 2 Diabetic and don't even know it so.................go get it checked out because whether I like or even sometimes dislike your posted thoughts or pictures in this our toy "not to be taken all that serious" section of our department store of life....I'd like you to still stick around us all awhile for heaven's sake. BEAT THE HELL OUT OF BALL STATE! -
Shoulda'....woulda'.......coulda'. It was tough leaving DKR Memorial that evening knowing what had just been done to our football team. And no, UT was not playing for an NCAA N.C. that Fall but still to have beaten the Horns would have been a milestone for North Texas and Mean Green football. And your friends dad who was a UNT grad but a UT fan? If we had all the UNT alums back who became front running UT fans back in the fold we might darn near fill our stadium this and any Apogee Game Day no matter who the hell we played. Everyone loves a winner but I think most of us still prefer to stick with "OUR" school and that that future winner for us still be wearing Mean Green. (Those whose kids went to UT get a pass but they should still show up and support the football team from the school who granted them a degree sometimes). Like Bill Yeoman once said about UH and it's lower place on the totem pole among other schools (particularly, UT & TAMU): "It's not easy being a Cougar fan" and I think we of North Texas can totally empathize with Coach Yeoman and know exactly where he was coming from saying that.

YOU gotta keep YOUR composure!
PlummMeanGreen replied to Stephanie Schilleci Pedigo's topic in Mean Green Football
Firstly, some of you know that I'm hardly a prude, but with some of my own (admittedly) crap I've posted in past years some of which I look back to with regret and I'd walk back many of those in a minute If I only could but SSP......... ...........I've become even more mindful of the fact that some who read this board; that is, some who could be very important to our future athletic program read this forum more than I was ever aware. Some of this stuff we can laugh at privately (perhaps) but on a public forum it just seems to lose much of its humor? GMG! -
YOU gotta keep YOUR composure!
PlummMeanGreen replied to Stephanie Schilleci Pedigo's topic in Mean Green Football
I'm finding it difficult to find any humor in this photograph, especially on our school's sports forum, ie, GMG.com. Some of you have already insulted a newbie female poster as if she had no right to express her own opinions so the isolation and demonization of her began from some of you truly class acts. And this pic really puts the icing on the cake on the thread that she began. I'm sure a few 8'th graders would find it funny, though, right there along with some of their public farts. I'd wager that all the Texas HS potential recruits who might consider North Texas and who we understand from parents regularly read GMG.com are most impressed, too. Whats next for this forum....photos of bestiality? I guess that would get a big belly laugh, too, from some and especially from the soul'less part of a particular generation in this country who are doing their damndest to lose our republic while they'll laugh at that, too......on their way to a soup line. -
What the heck, we gotta' blue norther' coming in or what? 91 degrees is a piece of cake. And if Bama'/TAMU keeps you home just mail back your UNT degree. One doing that would be part of the problem...not our eventual solution. (I did notice last game a Apogee they kept up to date scores on the south jumbotron).
