  1. 8 & 4 ! Congrats to the Turned It Around Gang of Mean Green Country! Could there possibly be a bowl announcement after this game?
  2. That one word once again was................rout!
  3. With no new stadium in sight why does UAB even continue to play CUSA football? Congrats to the USM Golden Eagles!
  4. Point: CUSA refs once again for about the 60'th time this Fall. Could have gone either way but we know which way it would go since North Texas is the team in question.
  5. Might it be that North Texas will be the only DFW Metroplex team to be in a bowl game? I think if SMU "looses" to Central Florida next week that will clinch it for us. GMG! Rice 14 Tulane 3 at the half
  6. Hey now, they beat La Tech last week! Yeah, you're right, though. Tulsa was picked pre-season to win the west--wonder what all happened to their team besides injuries?
  7. Rarely do I respond to my own post but I was too lazy to say the same thing again with emphasis on one word! PS: Said if right after it was called but why the freakin' timeout now? PS2: No penalties yet on AAC bound Tulsa? Please tell me I'm wrong and missed one. Jeez--Louise!
  8. Just one more repeat of his performance of the Ball State game? Just one more?
  9. Go Mean Green!
  10. Thank God for D and specialty teams. Is it OK that we hope for a rout from here on out? We need to kick someone in the a$$ and beating a team we haven't beat since I was 18 years old would be a helluva' start!
  11. Guess the answer will come post-game. Still too early. Chancellor getting the ball taken away and then run in for a TD was a kick in the butt for our team, but still much more time left. The team seems too uptight and way too precautious almost like they are scared to make a mistake. DT#7 needs to get out of management-mode and start making some plays,ie, the kind that wins football games and gets your team some momentum heading toward a bowl game. We cannot lose this game and go in limping to a bowl game--it would cost this program at this juncture way too many ticket sales among our own. GMG!
  12. What's the over/under on AAC-bound Tulsa getting a penalty from the CUSA refs today? GMG!
  13. How can you tell since the Fox cameras don't seem to want to show them?
  14. Happy Birthday, MG61...a great resource for this and other message boards.
  15. How does a recruiting verbal schools now have turn into a Gray Shirt or whatever they call it and then not count in this Winter's class? GMG! BEAT TULSA !
  16. I believe the Iowa Hawkeyes won today so does that affect anything for the HOD Bowl game?
  17. I was going to say "ANOTHER SHADE OF GREEN(?)".....but in the spirit of solidarity I won't! Great idea, SGA! Is the bus full yet?
  18. It would be very easy to say that more than half of NCAA FBS schools will have to recruit kids that have the basics, ie, fair to good speed and some basic skills of which most of that group (of under 3 stars recruits) will need playing at the college level to develop those skills. 4 words for that group of recruits who need the extra time to develop: Some Will--Some Won't. Wonder how many NCAA FBS level (D1) All Conference players thru the decades were hardly (if ever) recruited by the Big Boys who annually finish with Top 25 recruited classes? Wonder how many walk-on's in past decades have made All Conference teams with their collegiate football careers, too?
  19. Mo Green, PlummMeanGreen & NT80 are ready for some Mean Green football!
  20. Where are all the feeder roads and widening of roads for all this at the Mean Green Village? You can start with the immediate widening of Bonnie Brae of which I thought Denton had already pledged it would do? If we want more congestion when we start selling out Apogee which our enrollment & area's continue growth will cause us to all but back-up into doing each Game Day--promotions or no promotions); but wasn't it originally agreed that the City of Denton was going to help out with Bonnie Brae (of which even 4 lanes may not be wide enough anymore)? Another joint project with that between UNT and Denton, perhaps? And one mentioned Indoor Tailgating? How's bout' merely transferring those which begin outside into Apogee Stadium pre-kickoff for starters?
  21. ANSWERED And Also.....The Best Response! GMG!
  22. Still not sure of what the agenda of this thread is especially with its very noticeable title that just kind of jumps out at you. And even a Norman Vincent Peal'esque positive at the end of a post can hardly walk back the most definitive words that make up this thread's tile either. Shall we go down the list of all of Coach Mac's so-called "average" recruits (according to some of our gurus on this board) and ask him how in the hell did we ever get to 7 (maybe 8) wins this Fall with a bowl game almost a certainty now? Some on this board already had out their search list for a UNT HFC as I recall reading a few posts on GMG.com the last 2 years--hellsbells......some still do. You almost have to leave recruiting (and HS recruits) alone until they've been on campus for a year or 2 because so many things can happen in high school which could to turn one chicken salad sort of football season in HS into one that quickly becomes chicken caca. Having a very bad offensive line could have made Troy Aikman look average. Seems he had that his very first year with the Cowboys when they won--was it "1" game? Can't remember how many concussions for Troy his 1'st year, either, but a great talent like Troy had was made to look "not so great" at all because of circumstances of which old #8 had nothing to do with at all. Thread titles can be so misleading and at times can almost come off like one of those, "Hey Joe! Is it true that your're not beating your wife as badly as you used to" sort of things. You know, kind of an accidental back-handed slap in the face? Recruiting services like Rivals and Scout can be just has hit and miss as all of us novices can be and that possibly (and maybe) most of the time with many of us. I posted about UT's Super Bill Bradley on the previous page of this thread. He is just one example of many who did not turn out at all after receiving much praise during their HS careers. Even our own former RB (then a linebacker convert'ee), ie, Blooming Grove, Texas and Dave Campbell TF annointed recruit Milton Collins who Hayden Fry received much state-wide publicity for UNT when he closed the deal on him back in the day. Drew Brees seemedly didn't have the recruiting sevices praises (or multi-stars), either, or he would have had some 'ship offers here in the Southwest from some of the top schools. Amazing how so many average players in Texas High School's get passed over to me, quite frankly. And UTSA's QB Soza? How many recruiting services had him highly ranked with numerous stars during his senior year in HS? Anyone know? Happy Thanksgiving To All!
  23. Doesn't UTSA have to replace their starting QB Soza after this year, too? Soza was strategic in UTSA's win over North Texas who still almost came back and tied it at games end and at the Apogee time clocks-confusing end. (Did the CUSA refs really ever figure all that out as far as how many seconds were actually supposed to have been added to the clock at the end)? I myself am not ready to pronounce anyone in CUSA as the next Crimson Tide kind of a dynasty...just not that many of our schools that have that kind of year in and year out recruiting classes to make that happen. I do absolutely love what Coach Mac is doing with his Senior and Junior Days at Apogee & the Mean Green Village, though--that is quite an important selling time for what he is trying to accomplish in Denton. Adding the new luxury hotel and convention center adjacent to Apogee near "The Hill" will further enhance our entire Mean Green Village venue's package as well. That Southeast Conference official actually & probably was really impressed with what he saw with his tour of Apogee Stadium, the Super Pit and the entire Mean Green Village--present and future. These are assets for North Texas that I know others in CUSA cannot match.
  24. Whose To Say Who Will Ever Develop or Even Regress After Their HS Quarterback Career? Our next door neighbor in the old home town SW of H-Town worked for Humble Oil & Refinery (then the radio sponsor of the Southwest Conference Radio Network).........anyhow, our neighbor had some Bluebonnet Bowl game tickets so he, my dad and myself would head out to the 1966 Bluebonnet Bowl game (played in Rice Stadium that year) and watch Palestine,Texas High School QB phenom Super Bill Bradley. For whatever reason, Bradley would never master the art of passing at the NCAA D1 level. (For that Bluebonnet Bowl game it would be DKR's Texas Longhorns versus Coach Johnny Vaught's Ole Miss Rebel--UT won the game 19 to 0 as I recall). Super Bill Bradley: The experts (including a much younger Dave Campbell of Texas FB Magazine fame) had Super Bill as the next All Universe QB in the NCAA yet that afternoon in Houston it would be UT running back Chris Gilbert (Houston Spring Branch HS) and the Longhorns first ever 1,000 yard RB who would run the Ole Miss Reb's crazy all day long. Bill Bradley the next Fall would be replaced at QB by James Street and would end his UT career as a DB; a pretty doggone good one at that who would be a good DB for the Philadelphia Eagles, too. Some of the most unsuspecting Texas HS QB talents in the last half century have many times surprised the critics along with Dave Campbell (and a cast of hundreds of recruiting experts) who got it right at times but others times got it wrong as they did with #18...... Super Bill Bradley of the Texas Longhorns. Sometimes trying to predict who will or who won't becomes the biggest crap shoot of the highest order. GMG! HOW 'BOUT THOSE MEAN GREEN ? ! ? !
