Different strokes for different folks? Few would ever discourage any 17 or 18 year old when it comes to something as important as his future education. Hope OSU works out for him. -
North Texas ESPN recruiting record

As I told Harry days ago, a Scout rep told me they were up for sale and don't have an official Scout moderator to get rid of all the crap threads/posts several non-UNT'ers have blitzed our school's public forum with. Scout writer Annabel Stephan apologized and said that would all change under new ownership. I told her our hardy handful of posters will not continue updating the Inside North Texas forum until they start moderating. She was most understanding, too. GMG! From Mean_Green09's above post and he said: With Rivals it pushes us up to #10 in CUSA and 101 in the country A Response: Not sure how some schools without 3 stars can be ahead of some who have some or many to be honest. Is this the "new math" from the 1960's at work here? I think North Texas will rise dramatically once all our stars are in. My main question is: Just how close to being 3 star recruits are some of UNT's 2 star recruits? I think I know a coaching staff at the only NCAA FBS school in Denton, Texas, America who will turn some of those 2 star HS recruits into 3 star (and up) college-level football performers and isn't that what really counts the most? -

Can you blame some of these guys for wanting to "go away to college?" Of course, those who stay home in Denton and Denton County would become Mean Green folks heros in time. -

How does all this translated in Rivals (and Scouts) recent national team rankings? Sometimes these services are slow to report recent commits. Anyone else notice that, too? -
Breaking news -- UNT lands QB Caleb Chumley
PlummMeanGreen replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
Worst UNT recruiter since College Hall of Famer Hayden Fry was in Denton, UNTLifer? Best part of all this is that Mr. Caleb will not get duped by Coach Mac and his staff...He will get a shot at QB and who knows what happens from that, right? All that is happening in Mean Green Country makes me wish I were in my 30's all over again. GMG! -
Updated UNT FB 2014 Recruiting Commitment Listing

I repeat: This class is coming together in ways we've not seen in awhile! Now stay committed for another week or so, future Mean Green "All For One-One For All" superstars and future annual bowl participants! Nationally known sportscaster Norm Hitzghes on North Texas: "Why not North Texas being another Boise State........why not?" (Hey Norm, many of us think North Texas can do better with the upside & location we have, big guy). And in my profile pic upper left hand corner Scrappy says: "TEXAS IS ALL MINE--YOU AIN'T SEEN NUTHIN' YET ! ! !" "Hey Jack! This UNT recruiting class coming together?" -

PlummMeanGreen replied to Harry's topic in UNT Football Recruiting
I never thought Xavier would have a decision today or tonight & probably not even this week. From reading his bio and comments, he just doesn't seem to be the kind who'd be accused of making too quick a decision. I like our chances more today than I did last week. Heck, as it is we've got to hold onto all those who gave us verbals for another long 2 weeks. Poker, anyone? GMG! -

And reading most posts on GMG.com our coaches and players get much love during most of the year. Oh sure, there are a few who will criticize a coach and a player or 2 from time to time but those are the exception. Most of the "agreeing to disagree" on this forum has much to do with how to warp speed this athletic program upward and forward and who should (or should not) perhaps be in charge of doing that merely based on what all other NCAA FBS schools use as their barometers for ultimate success. We do get crazy over here about realignment talk, shades of green, brandings, helmets and unis, too, but that happens on most all other school's or conference message boards from all appearances. GMG!

To me a cell phone and what is put on them is personal...GMG.com and others like it or more for the general public and are like going to a sports bar with hot sports opinions being spewed all over the place by alums drunk with school pride and with so many different ways they think their favorite school can hit the Big Time. Not so much with this player, 97and03, but with some of the others and all this from well meaning UNT alums or fans. Not saying it should be forbidden to do this, but what is said in some tweets could turn off some recruits? Hell, I don' know...I don't tweet, but at age 63 sometimes I do...'twick.

Updated UNT FB 2014 Recruiting Commitment Listing
PlummMeanGreen replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
Just like we were supposed to finish close to the bottom of all CUSA tootball programs this last Fall, too? We have a great coaching staff who can evaluate talent; who can develop that talent and then motivate them to be (once again)............Alll For One & One For All! How long has it been since we had such a team as unified as this one who just won the HOD Bowl game ? We get strategic transfers from other NCAA FBS Big Boy U schools one of which who'll play in the annual Green/White Spring football game in a few weeks who had 4 stars when originally recruited by a PAC 12 school and then you have................THIS..................not one recruiting services (obviously) had that 4 star Mean Green football player factored in any of the last 2 recruiting classes, right? I am not sure how a school with no 3 star recruits can be ranked ahead of some who have two or three 3 star recruits. Anyone want to explain that one to some of us who do not understand some of these recruiting services rankings formulas? GMG! -
Tweets from fans make me nervous.....tread lightly my friend.

Updated UNT FB 2014 Recruiting Commitment Listing
PlummMeanGreen replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
We get as much respect from some of these services as we did from fellow CUSA schools last year after our invite when you'd thought we would be "the new Slippery Rock U of the new CUSA." In other words we got absolutely.................NO RESPECT. He who laughs last, laughs best" is one of my all time favorite sayings because who got the last laugh on some of the condescending toward UNT fellow CUSA schools of ours this last year? Hell, Marshall U and their fans cannot seem to fathom that we kicked MTSU's arse last Fall and last I checked, MTSU beat, uhh, "The Herd". Is it coal mine dust in the brain at work with that or what? This: We honest to goodness finished last among all in one service last year and who was it once again that went to a bowl game which 35,000 Mean Green fans showed up to watch on New Years Day? How many recruiting service sweepstake winners got to stay home and watch us? I know 2 fellow NCAA FBS level schools here in the Metroplex who did. How many recruiting services know we have a 4 star transfer from a PAC 12 school who will be playing in the annual Green/White Spring game in just mere weeks? Hows 'bout.....none? We also seem to be very successful with other transfers who have credentials when they arrive in Denton but somehow got disappointed with what they were getting (or not getting) at Big Time U. I love this years class because: (1) We have kids with NCAA FBS level speed if one will only look at most of their videos which proves that and... (2) We have some kids who'll play on the DL and OL with size, good quickness and room to grow in the weight room with one helluva strength instructor on McCarney's staff who'll help them get that NCAA FBS level size. Best part of the above 2 is that we have coaches who know how to further develop those who already had good skills at the HS level or even just raw talent and then more important........how to motivate them and mold them into a football family with an All For One--One For All attitude. What the heck else more do we really need than that (besides 9,000 more seats at Apogee to make it an even 40,000 since we now know we can get 35,000 area fans even after "1" winning season in a decade)? There'll be some Recruiting Services Sweepstakes Winners who will once again get to stay home next bowl season and watch North Texas and who knows maybe even for a return appearance at the HOD Bowl game but this time before 45,000 Mean Green fans and about 15,000 Big 10 fans. We are doing fine with this recruiting class. Hell, doesn't it look like most of the kind of recruiting classes we've seen most our lives as Mean Green fans as it is? Don't worry 'bout McCarney and Staff....be happy. GMG! -
North Texas actually hosted 3 Midwest Regionals at our fabulous Super Pit. Our basketball venue was literally the rage of college basketball on campus facilities down here in the Southwest and few could top its modern features except UT with its Super Drum built a few years later after ours. SMU's Moody was built in 1956 and could not match the Super PIt with all its modern features. I remember listening to a KRLD Sports Central radio show one evening back in the 70's when its host (Al Wisk?) had Baylor and SWC broadcast veteran Frank Fallon on his show. They were talking college basketball venues and Wisk asked Fallon: "What venues across the USA would you like to see Baylor copy when they build their BB venue?" Fallon's first response was: "I like what Fred has up in Denton at their on campus facility, especially the section for the media." Fallon was referring to UNT SID Fred Graham with that comment. Most all MIdwest Regionals today are played at much larger NBA venues or domed stadiums so the era of 10,000 seat facilities hosting such event are most likely over. GMG!

2014 Season Ticket Deposits are now Available
PlummMeanGreen replied to Eddie Delgado's topic in Mean Green Football
I was wrong and I'm sorry about my assessment of this idea and even discouragement of those who are obviously trying to make a difference for our schools football program's increased tickets selling in the near future....as in 2014. Carry on, Mr. Delgado...you have all our support and appreciation for these early in the year season ticket sales efforts--something very important to all of us on this forum. I'll be re-newing my own soon enough. GMG! PS And thanks for the -1 GL2Greatness.! Obviously, you, "Todge-Rodge" and "Someone" who all post on 3 different conference boards with such similar styles are still having..... your bad widdle' dreams about UNT? -

I think it was the late, great(ly missed) Ron Shanklin who told some of us Cedrick Hardman was 5'10" and 180 pounds as a Mean Green freshmen; left UNT at 6'4" 240 pounds with an NFL #1 draft choice by the SF 49'ers as his reward, Read that Hardman still has the 49'ers sacs record to this day even though during part of his 49'er career they weren't keeping such records officially. To this day I'm not sure why Cedrick Hardman is not in the NFL Hall of Fame especially when I think of some of the "slow of foot" NY football Giants who are there because (mostly) they played in the Big Apple and had all the eastern sports media votes to get in the NFL/HOF because of it. Granted, life is truly not fair for some. GMG!- 54 replies

Agree, Mean Green Matt... Some just don't read the growth projections of UNT, Denton and Denton County and foreverf live in the past it seems to me. Reduction of seats at UNT? That would be tantamount to the Jolly Green Giant having a wenis reduction. Shit! Sometimes you have to wonder if we have a few of our posters strung out on meth'. GMG!
