DRC: What happened to the Apogee edge?
PlummMeanGreen replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
If we had a crowd like this every home game might that be worth some points on the scoreboard? UH's then HFC Kevin Sumlin had to call 2 (or was it 3) timeouts at Apogee because of crowd noise. GMG! Upper Wing Zone Promo: Kids under 12 get in free with at least 1 paying adult? It would be a lot of concessions & Mean Green Gear Shop sales for certain. (We know this won't happen but we can dream of seeing a filled upper Wing Zone, right)? LOL! * Do this promo for "EVERY" home game, but when we start winning & become a Top 25 football program that promo could cease. -
BillySee58, do you have a take on our other newer (freshmen/RS freshmen) offense linemen recruits? GMG

We are not going to be playing MUTS-like talent for most of the balance of this season. Will be glad when North Texas is back on top, but doing it because we're damn good & ranked inside the Top 25 rather than the rest of the conference is milk-toast weak.

MGB: NCAA considering banning satellite camps again
PlummMeanGreen replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
Rural schools take a bigger hit than UNT if I'm understanding this correctly. Wonder how many potential recruits & their parents drive by Apogee & stop in for an "unofficial" visit? How soon will that be off the table, too? -
Holy Cow!☹️ Get the kid some blocking! Fine is special but we want to keep him that way. GMG!

DRC: What happened to the Apogee edge?
PlummMeanGreen replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
Doesn't seem the prior regime fully recruited toward Apogee. They did have some successful Junior Days with lots of parents on hand but seems we didn't always recruit the creme de la creme from those. Said it before but Gray Eagle kept posting as far back as 2011 that we were just not having the kind of recruiting classes we should have had toward Apogee; that is, a stadium that former Dallas Cowboys super scout Gil Brandt called "the Taj Mahal of college football" & with Brandt adding: "...and I've seen them all." During another era, Hayden Fry always said North Texas was an easy sell. Most around back then would probably agree that he proved it & look at the crappy stadium he (& others) had to recruit toward? My Texas Almanac states in the 70's Denton County was a rural county of 99,000 population & now what is it--900,000 all within 30 minutes drive of Apogee Stadium? Those demographics are now fully to our advantage. The best part is many of our 6'th sense tells us Seth Littrell & staff will finally utilize the hell out of the extreme positive benefit that having Apogee on our campus should have already been. Hellsbells! It still has that new smell to me! Its past time for our fortunes to change for the good up there & recent signs suggests they are. GMG! -

It's wide enough, but your probably right. Yet if having a 6 Flag'esque tram-train caused a thousand or more of the 70 plus seniors group to come to Apogee every game it might be worth running a survey to see. Some out there do not or cannot walk from campus parking lots to our football palace. GMG! -

2016 CUSA Average Attendence (so far)
PlummMeanGreen replied to Cerebus's topic in Mean Green Football
If Denton had a population of 1 million would we still (basically) see the same old familiar (but loyal) faces at Home games we've seen for decades? Sometimes I wonder. I told an older TCU alum the other day how the Texas Higher Ed Coordinating Board wants UNT to be at 45,000 enrollment soon. He couldn't even believe we were already right at 38,000 enrollment. I then really freaked him out & told him we had about 263,000 North Texas Exes in DFW. ➡️ Honestly, put a string of winning seasons together with an improved OOC schedule at Apogee & all this will translate to near sellouts each home game in time. ✳️We can't forever stay where we are & where we've been at the turnstiles. -
Seating?
PlummMeanGreen replied to Mad Hatter's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
Pay them & the other .0000000000001 of the American population who do this no attention & when they see no one is watching them they'll eventually get the hint & then campus streaking could make a big come-back!??? -
Faculty Senate Pays for Two Free Tickets
PlummMeanGreen replied to Cerebus's topic in Mean Green Football
Off the subject a bit, but would a train or tram cars like they used to use at 6 Flags to pick up customers who parked a ways from the front entrance gate be able to turn that final dog leg corner on the I-35 walkway? It should. That is a wide bridge. -
It's what shade of green we use for each new regime change that keeps me off balance. Various shades of green each have a number so what is ours this go around? GMG! PS: The Philly' 'Iggles colors are green & white but have cleverly incorporated silver (or gray) in their unis in the past. Why not give that a try at Apogee? The right design with the neutral silver would I'd bet go over quite well.

Yes, EMBA! One of The Napoleon of the West' marching band's greatest hits! Then they could do a blast from the past double play with "the Monster Mash!" Oh hell, have another Shiner or 2 or 3 on me! ??? GMG!

MGB: Seth Littrell press conference notes
PlummMeanGreen replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
Yep! Hope.....FINALLY! GMG! -
Why not a little diversity for the Green Brigade songbook like adding Iron Butterfly's "In A Gadda Da Vida" to their repertoire & sung en espanol? That could cause the opposing team to wave the white flag of surrender before the 4'th quarter even begins. Proceed... GMG!

How Many MORE Games Do You Expect To Win?
PlummMeanGreen replied to Cerebus's topic in Mean Green Football
If it possible that we develop a formidable offensive line the next few weeks then this team could hit 5 or 6 wins this year & Littrell should be C-USA Coach of the Year. ❓Anyone know what newcomer(s) could emerge in the offensive line this season? PS: Sorry, demaxel, I'll change my icon since I've duplicated yours. -
We saw them in action. Anything to add to Game Day & to spice it up. Hey guys! Dress down a tad similar to what UNT President Smatresk has on as in a green sports shirt? (Just a suggestion). GMG!

I knew a girl from Hawkins, Texas, who lost a friend in their terrible tragedy, but I don't want to further the discussion of that subject. The movie upsets the hell out me as I'm sure it does all of you. I'll miss being at the game to see how our young team improves from last week. I'm DJ'ing a wedding at the Doss Heritage Center of Weatherford. (The late Larry "J.R. Ewing" Hagman was at its grand opening). GMG!

Mark:. We Are Family! Yes, dysfunctional at times but you know we all bleed green & give a damn about our school and if they'd break bread with SUMG & me then they'd do so with almost anyone! LOL! Very cordial (but opinionated) group but that's what makes them fun to be around. No petite petunias among this group.

I have a wedding to DJ so I'll be rooting from a distance. If we can have a few duplications of our Mason Fine-led first drive & TD as done vs MUTS the Marshall game is winnable. ✳️We have to believe that our new coaching staff is continuing in the development of our younger players, too.
