  1. I love Weatherford & Parker County myself. ? We have Kangaroo Stadium that a UNT alum practically rebuilt & modernized. We also have First Monday which is a smaller version of Canton. EAT YOUR ❤️'s OUT SAN ANTONIO ROSE! GMG! PS:. North Texas also has the best college marching concert band with LEGS! Eat your ❤️'s out ZZ Top!?
  2. Not sure why it seems North Texas gives UTSA a reason to exist in football & play above their talent level most every time we play. Still I'm happy we are not another generic "not UT-Austin" satellite campus yet ours being one that has the best (& best located) "on-campus" D1 athletic venues in CUSA-West that our students don't have to call a UBER driver to get to. * Check out UNT President Smatresk signature statement below. Ta' ta'...? GMG!
  3. All week long I had a bad feeling about this game, too, EagleMBA. LaTech? It's why we play the game, folks. See y'all at Apogee! GMG!
  4. Remember it well. Frank Singdaulsen Sp? He was a big fan & then ran into a little trouble as I recall. That's all I'm going to say about that.
  5. Will there be free fried chicken? (Can I ask that here)?
  6. In the last 100 years I've actually had quite a few SMU friends. I hired 2 or 3 and a real good un' when I was early in the Tech School recruiting business as Recruitiing Manager. She is a black lady & we are still friends to this day. She laughed at my country corn hillbilly jokes better than anyone. She also told em' to her mother in Dallas who called me....THAT JIM PLUMMER! Life is short...have as much legal fun as you can.
  7. Tjhat was an ugly visual! LOL! but......no sex inside Fair Park Music Hall was allowed. . She was one of TWU's prettiest, though. So I guess..... "I Loved Em' Every One." (T.G. Sheppard) No, I really wasn't "THAT" busy, really. T.G. Sjheppard sang hit big hit "Party Girl" in 1981 at the Cotton Bowl Stadium when North Texas hosted the OSU Cowboys. What a forgettable day that was for many of us on GMG.com Some funny stories about that season and that game. Also performing that day was country comedian Elmer Phud-pucker who was a real hoot! (NOT)! Country Music Hall of Famer Kitty Wells sang "It Wasn't God Who Made Honky Tonk Angels." And Carl Perkins sang the hit he wrote for Elvis: "Blue Suede Shoes."
  8. Joe, I'd play some of your band if I could get a CD. I always take the chance to brag about North Texas around all those Aggies, Horned Frogs, Red Raiders, etc, that I've done many weddings. I have a good time with it. Actually have done many North Texas weddings last 12 years & they get to hear the Green Brigade CD version of our fight song. Of course, all that I have has been digitzed for my HP Envy. Medicine is good for the body.....Music is good for the soul. GMG! PS: NTAlum09: Kenny G? The one I play the most is his collaboration with the great Louis Armstrong (who I got to see in concert in San Francisco at age 14 when visiting my sister & her husband at the Army's Presidio); anyhow, that duo's "Wonderful World" with that jazzy electronic clarinet of Kenny G is very popular at weddings. Enigma's 'Gravity of Love' has been requested several times, too.
  9. The very word I used when I was told "you will be going to the opera with me." Honestly, like I'm sure many of you, I have a very eclectic taste of music but an entire presentation sung in 'eye-talian is a bit much for me albeit...I once sang in an a capella choir of which Russia composer Pavel Tchesnokov's "Salvation Is Created" was a favorite & we sung it in Russian. Many Texas public schools HS choirs have probably covered that song at some point in their HS choir experiences. (1'st tenors get to fly to the moon with that piece a la Roy Orbison). I'm getting older & I'm sure doing a lot more looking back of late, but when there is more behind than in front I suppose one tends to do that. North Texas Mean Green football has been a big part of many of our lives. I hope this season is one day looked back as a pivotal year "when North Texas began its march to being an annual Top 25 poll fixture." Like the guy in O Brother Where Art Thou said...... "you ain't no kind of man if you don't have land." Well, we won't be what many of us think North Texas should be if we don't have Top 25 real estate in our future Falls like Boise State had for a number of years under about 6 head football coaches. Just more ramblin' while I have Friday & BEAT-UTSA on my mind! GMG!
  10. Love Is A Many Splendored Thing.
  11. Opera? Once saw "The Marriage of Figaro" at Dallas Music Hall when I was once connected to a TWU music major. Had a tuxedo on & everything, but took a nice nap during the production. Now if it had been the Grand Ole Opry a different story. Yeah, I'm probably more a hillbilly than a social climbing socialite type alright, but can play the part of whatever the environment. too. I digress...(as usual). GMG!
  12. North Texas versus any Big 10 school works for me. Wished we'd had that instead of UNLV then you're talking 50-60,000 fans on New Years Day, January 1, 2014, at the Cotton Bowl Stadium. GMG!
  13. Out of all of those including a 6 win North Texas wonder who the Heart of Dallas Bowl people would want?
  14. Is it conceivable that this coaching staff gets a 4 star recruit or 2 or 3 at some point? I know our Def. Coord. said that at a past P5 stop he was tired of getting 4 star recruits who only developed into a 2 star level in college. GMG!
  15. Didn't Harbaugh show interest in our job at some point in the past? GMG!
  16. drex' multi-decades artistic talents back in play! GMG!
  17. And the TV broadcasters said something to the effect that we didn't bring heaters for the sideline, too? Didn't know we were supposed to bring our own heaters since I thought the host provided those?
  18. Lil' Wayne! I wish. Out here I play lots of Texas country, old country, old Rock & Roll, new Rock & Roll, college fight songs (those Aggies tip like a sum'bich) but still....IDJ: soundworksdeejay.com
  19. Thanks! I'll be DJ'ing a Backyard Halloween party so I guess I"ll have to occasionally sneak over to my car radio (which can strangely pick up KNTU in some parts of Parker County).
  20. I highly beg to differ. What would our future prospects be as of today or where would our won loss record be w/o Mason Fine, a true freshman who at this time last year was playing for the equivalence of a Texas 2-A high school? Maybe another "project" QB that some of us have seen the last 40 years ad nausem or one who might work out & develop by his senior year (or he just might not)? :( We get a pearl up there & some want to only talk about the sand? Enjoy the pearl. How many we had at North Texas the last 12 years? GMG! PS: Yes, admittedly I can be a bit crotchety at times & at some of the most inopportune moments, but consider the group of North Texas graduates from my era who still have the audacity to believe that North Texas should have been marching in an upwardly bound modus operendi the last 40 plus years as to be in the same neighborhood as some of our former Missouri Valley conference mates--2 of which have been in the Top 10 part of this season. The reality of all this is that North Texas can still be in that elite group, but some of us will simply not be around long enough to see it happen as to enjoy it. Oh well, as Moses said who MLK, Jr. even quoted & I liberally paraphrase...."I've seen the Promise Land, although I might not be able to cross-over into it with you." (Quick! Now someone play Elvis' American Trilogy)! ? GMG!
  21. Statue talk at Apogee or on campus? AND......Pat Boone did sing the national anthem at Apogee's grand opening. He once attended a Mean Green Club function on campus & I remember that the late Bill Vogel gave him one of those apple green flying worm caps to wear which he seemed to wear proudly in all the photos. For a Columbia U grad, Boone has given many KUDOS to North Texas because he & wife Shirley always said "Denton and North Texas will always have a special place in our hearts." I think most of their daughters were even born at old Flow Memorial Hospital, too.
  22. Which TV network is carrying this game? GMG!
  23. Location not as busy traffic-wise?
  24. Half of the sale is buying from someone you like. We seem to have likeable coaches who also seem to want to stay awhile. GMG!
