Maybe we have all who've been hurt back minus those kicked off the team. We'd need some turnovers to stay in game (like all the ones we won this season). Again, Navy would want to play a ranked team which I hope is part of our future under SL.

I have to finally admit, techdog88, that your school has done so much with so little & my school (during most my 40+ years as an alum & fan) has done so little with so much. (I do feel we might finally have all the pieces in place to change our future prospects). The curse of many from my era is that we had several (by today's standards) bowl-worthy (Fry era) teams one of which slobber-knocked your team (41-7?) one season only to see your Dawgs get a bowl invite a few days later. I stand to be corrected, but I think North Texas even had a Top 20 ranking part of that same season. Some began to call us Rodney Daingerfield State U.? ----------------------------- ➡️ More Scatter-shootin' From the Hip: Still, I'd love for LaTech, UNT, Rice, UTEP & UTSA vault to the MWC to make up most of a MWC East Division to improve our G5 status as well as improve all our prospects in the future NCAA that will never, never happen in CUSA (or FWIW...SBC 2.0). No matter our most impressively improved W/L record from last year our APR standing to get a bowl game is one helluva' positive selling point. North Texas coaches I hope will get the upper echelon players of recruiting lists of every West Division CUSA school & a couple of Texas AAC regional schools & then go after their top players with reckless abandon. Hey dammit! It was only January 1, 2014, before the largest gathering ever of North Texas fans that we won a New Years Day freaking' bowl game in the Cotton Bowl stadium. No other CUSA school will ever exceed the 36,000 fans we took to Fair Park---NONE! Yet I bet we will in a future game there. At some point we need to quit looking down at our shoes among HS programs in DFW & Texas & recruit the way winners recruit telling our future recruits we are shooting to be not just CUSA football champions but to also be an annual Top 25 fixture & how they would be vital to be part of such a campaign; that is, a campaign that our school has by its actions avoided embracing for most of we older nestor's lives. Our location + our academics + Apogee & the Mean Green Village + what Smatresk says in his quote below? Why the hell not Top 25? GMG!

That SOW Chrome Helmet is about as sharp a helmet that we've had at North Texas the 40 plus years I've watched this program. Could you outline SOW in black or a darker (or lighter) shade of green to make it stand out even more (esp. on television)?

Look how many were missing from our team yesterday who were part of most of our upsurge this season. We really do need 2 strong recruiting classes in a row to catch up completely with higher echelon CUSA. And I hope when we win the CUSA championship it's not because the usual strong teams all had bad seasons & that we will also be a Top 25 program, too. Anything less will remind me of our SBC years. So UTEP should win the Most Under-Performing Team Award in the G-5? And...how in the hell did the Rice Owls (who a Fine-led MG team beat) defeat the Miners for heavens sake? GMG!

Actually, our 1976 MeanGreen football ? team did deserve a bowl game.

Not going to hurt that our academics (APR) will help us get this bowl invite while others will not be able to tell recruits the same thing about theirs. Hey! There are some silver linings to be found with all this. We all just had to get over the initial shock of today's loss. I'm over it. GMG!

I really don't think our HFC will be considered anywhere until the so-called recruiting experts can review 2 or 3 of his recruiting hauls in Denton. Just an opinion. BEAT UTEP! GO BOWLING!

IMHO, a good criteria to go by if any school is a contender or pretender of wanting to be in any future D1 conference re-alignment would be they having at least a 30,000 seat stadium; other-wise you are mixing too many true D2 schools with those who are D1 & might even one day entertain the idea of being the next Louisville or Boise State (both former conference-mates of North Texas I might add).
