Yes! No doubt we the fans will be as much the focus with these recruits as our football team. I hope we are all happy with the results of what's in the Cotton Bowl seats & the football field. What a "2 days after Christmas" gift for all that would be.

OK. Sometimes you have to take a sabbatical away from GMG.com to regain some balance about our athletic program. I have. Fact is, I know you're a good fan even though I've not met you but being on here says you do give a damn! It's the other almost 230,000+ NT Exes living in northern Texas I wish cared as you do. Not wanting a food fight here. I believe in (hetero) love because after all I'm from the Woodstock generation which means I'm almost older than Moses. LOL! Find me at the HOD & you'll have a beer ? or soft drink on me (but just don't pour it on me). :) GMG!

Good God dude. This is an opinion board. You need some cocoa? This: Yet I don't know why some of our own want to keep on & on throwing ice water on our school's bowl game. GMG!

Another reason we need to show a large number of recruits who'll be at our bowl game something to talk about and a good time. I think some post negatives on this forum to get some (apparent) much needed attention & they know who they are. Probably some of our Red Numbers Brigade or some of our CUSA visitors. Still, this bowl is more about our future than the present. Hang what the media says. Most of em' I doubt can even spell journalism & probably never even played the game.

To me this game will become the first (early) game of next season with focus on our young developing players who will have just had 18 more practice days to develop their skills for this game. Then hoping like hell that all the visiting HS recruits that Seth Littrell & staff invite to the Cotton Bowl stadium will be impressed with our fan support & then some of the better ones sign an LOI with North Texas in mere weeks. Isn't the scholastic achievements of this team that got our entire UNT community this bowl game in the first place almost worth the celebration alone? See y'all in Dallas! GMG!

Tony, is the Eli Young Band (all members UNT grads) headliner enough or are we talking Super Bowl'esqe headliners here? Mick? LOL!

How can UNT best capitalize on this bowl (important)

? Ditto, SE! Just Scatter-shootin' From the Hip: ✳️ For all practical purposes, the HOD Bowl Game Day will be the official beginning of the last 2 months of Coach Littrell & his staff's recruiting season with signing date in February. ✳️ Undoubtedly, we will have more area & state-wide recruits with pedigree at this one game we probably couldn't have even said hello to before this invite today. What kind of 1'st impression they get with our entire presentation (& attendance) will cause some of them to take a 2'nd look at North Texas. ✳️ Like Harry insinuated the $75 or $50 is not that much since few of us will be in a 4 star hotel & going out for 3 meals a day as many traveling college football fans traditionally do every bowl season. ✳️ La Tech will have a field day with all of us if they sell more tickets to the Armed Services Bowl. They have a 4:30 pm kick so many of their fans will take a hotel for a night & do some tourist time at Billy Bobs & Stockyards Station. That will all be much more than $75 or $50. GMG!

The Army/Navy game is coming up this weekend and it's a national game no matter how good or bad these 2 teams are from decade to decade. U.S. presidents used to come to this game annually & may still do it. I'd wager that during the national telecast of this game that it will be mentioned 2 or more times that Army will be coming to Dallas to play North Texas in the HOD Bowl game. Hey! It's free publicity! We'll take it! GMG!
-
Going to try to join up with a group to go in together to buy tickets like we did last HOD Bowl so I can sit with familiar faces. Anyone I know doing the same? GMG!
-
I guess I carry a grudge because I'm still pissed with La Tech getting an invite to a bowl after we had slobber-knocked them to the tune of 41 to 7. I agree....I think Fry started looking soon after all that. SHOW UP, NORTH TEXAS, AT THIS HOD BOWL GAME! IMPORTANT POWERS THAT BE FROM ANOTHER INTERESTED CONFERENCE MAKING RE-ALIGNMENT NOISES ARE I'D WAGER A DJ GIG LOOKING AT 4 TEXAS/CUSA SCHOOLS....(maybe even La Tech if they would be interested).

Awe shucks come on now......don't want to sound preachy', but we get a bowl and now some fans are getting picky? For what its worth, schools that are moving up the totem pole in the NCAA G-5 toward eventual P-5 don't have such picky fans. Just sayin'... The group I was with at the last HOD Bowl game had a total blast with all the pre-game hoopla! The HOD officials made it a 1'st class bowl for both UNLV and UNT football teams along with the approx. 36,000 Mean Green fans who attended plus.......much of the proceeds of this game go to charities. HOD & UNT officials were having "UNT" put in huge letters on some of their most visible "Big D" downtown buildings which were seen by many travelers on Stemmons Freeway. The HOD Bowl was made to be an event and this game will be treated as such. For me I'm making this game the unoffical 1'st game of the 2017 season because it will feature many of our future stars. I can't wait to see their further development at this bowl game. ➡️ We should all be there to greet them. And as a few of you have pointed out because of this bowl invite, our recruiting class with this young, aggressive UNT coaching staff will pull in more quality recruits. I'm sure many of those potential recruits will be at this bowl game. GO MEAN GREEN.........BEAT ARMY!

A good deal for North Texas all around. A beatable team (for TV purposes) and we'll have most all our hurt players who beat Army the first time around back. Will Army have their starting QB back? HOD officials know we can bring more fans than any one school they've had in their 7 year history so I'm sure they are pleased. GMG!
-
Both bowl officials in Dallas or Fort Worth know that with North Texas they could both have a huge collective sigh of relief because at least one complete side of their respective stadia would be full. If we go to ACS in Cowtown what crowd we had at the 2014 HOD would fill 2/3'rds of that stadium. What a photo opp that would be.?✳️?
-
Well, McNulty should have had #19 as his number! {:>) Here's the 1'st TD scored at Apogee by Andrew McNulty. Crowd noise after that score showed us that we had one helluva' football stadium that actually had acoustics! Then UH Coach Sumlin would call 2 or 3 timeouts due to our fan's crowd noise.

I love our Chrome Helmet more than any UNT Helmet I've seen since 1973. Me'thinks they might want to put a white (or gold) trim on the SOW to enhance its visibility. I hope it's our bowl game helmet as it looks sharp as hell on television. GMG!
-
I noticed.? We'd have to bring our "A+ game" versus Navy. Still...It's a bowl game so let's make the most of it & have some good ol' fashion college fun! GMG!

How can UNT best capitalize on this bowl (important)
PlummMeanGreen replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
Most have a Facebook or Twitter account that will have UNT "Friends" & others who are not but could become curious as in new fans? It may be that many of our UNT Friends have not been on the UNT general mailing or athletic dept. list for years (if even ever). Maybe by tomorrow when we know which bowl there will be a nice online marketing piece one of our creative types can put together to make it Facebook friendly & put it on "one" thread here. Gosh, look at the national media from both sides of the aisle who've said how Facebook & Twitter were such a grass roots-producer of votes on the Presidential Election Day). ➡️ UNT athletics may already have such an online bowl marketing piece on the drawing board now & once they have who, when and where details will probably launch it tomorrow. THEN....Harry or Cerebus could use that creation & dedicate one top of the page permanment thread for us to use as a "Share" with all our respective FB (or Twitter) pages & (subsequently) all our friends. I think we'd all agree that we need to get a head start selling tickets to repeat our astounding success we had at the last HOD Bowl on 1/1/2014. GMG! -
Beautiful! LOL!

Talked to the Head Trainer of TCU last night. He says TCU would like to go to the Texas Bowl. He is also going to give me a tour of Amon Carter Stadium soon as I've not been inside it since their redux. I told him I'd rather see it as a bowl participant.

Just Scattershootin' From The Hip: MWC, folks..........W--I--T's (The above picture of an empty stadium for a Championship game is pitiful & tells us what the future of CUSA aka SBC 2.0 is really all about & makes MWC make even more sense). Rice alums & fans are ready to make this MWC happen. I spoke to a Rice alum about this yesterday--he got excited about the possibility. (My eye doctor is also a Rice alum). Even their Parliament fan forum board has support for MWC. They see little long term upside with CUSA/SBC 2.0. Yet........would Prez' Smatresk, Wren Baker & our BOR's want to at least explore this MWC thing? Like maybe even showing up on the office doorsteps of the MWC Commish' next Monday? LOL! The MWC Commish' has mentioned the, uh, .....Tex-4 > > > > (Rice, UNT, UTEP & UTSA) .......as their "Texas option." This kind of conference membership would be the 2'nd most important thing to happen for our school since the construction of Apogee Stadium). Fact is.........with recent media noise suggesting the AAC could lose possible members in the East you can bet your sweet bippy that UH and SMU would (with reckless abandon) pursue the Mountain West Conference in a NY minute & that another reason our leaders need to be proactive with this if there is even a crease of light for this to happen. Just saying'... GMG For those of us who've been around all this for going on 40 years to a half a century you do come up with (most times) some semblance of a balanced perspective as it relates to where we've been and where we really believe we can go. If your standing still in today's NCAA you are most likely going backwards & (sadly) that school will eventually reap the rewards for doing such. _________________________________________________ On Another Front! I'm pumped & ready to buy some Mean Green bowl tickets tomorrow....are you? (I know you are)! :)
