  1. 40 yard speed?
  2. Stealth recruiting is probably best for us & when we've done it that way in the past we really don't know much about who we'll sign until the last full week. I would rather UNT do it that way than submit a list of high profile (or not so high profile) names 2 months before signing day only to see countless changes of minds in the 12'th hour. GMG!
  3. Hope we pick up some new faces (as in recent grads) & come close to the athletic dept. sales numbers from last time, but it's obvious that Game Day walk up sales will still produce our largest group. Wonder how Army is doing with their allotment? GMG!
  4. I'm getting closer to needing a "holding hands in a circle singing kum bah yah" moment, or some hot cocoa or some Dr. Phil counseling! I am...really!.........(really I'm not) I am happy we have 2 QB's who have won games this Fall. We'd be in a green pickle & be stuck with the green weinie if we only had 1 healthy QB going into this bowl game. me'thinks we have 2 healthy QB's, but our coaches didn't really tell us when Fine first got hurt as some of you have indicated as you pointed to when his production first went down a tad. GMG! BEAT ARMY!
  5. Our QB situation is going to be fine. I am more worried about having a healthy RB back & ready to play at 100%! GMG!
  6. I ordered my HOD Bowl tickets yesterday. The ticket lady said they'd be Fed Ex'd to me & arrive before but no later than December 20'th. Of course, buy thru the UNT Athletic Dept if you want to get some prime sideline seats. I have no idea how my modest MG Club membership level points will do for seating, but she said I wouldn't be disappointed. WTH! I'll be inside the Cotton Bowl stadium to see our favorite college team play so why should it matter, right? :) 1-800-UNT-2366 GMG! BEAT ARMY!
  7. NFL "All Pro" Zachary Orr! Wow!
  8. ? If we have another Indian Summer day on 12/27 as last time I believe walk up sales will be very, very good.
  9. I wear a similar MG shirt over a black sweat shirt. Looks sorta' nice. GMG!
  10. Wren said 30,000'ish is what I heard. Prior to hearing that from our AD one of the largest contributors to North Texas for decades told me we had 36,000 of our fans at the game during the MUTS half time so thanks for the update. Of course I'll go with Wren now since he has the bookkeeping on all that!??? GMG!
  11. Me too, greenminer. GMG!
  12. Then when Wren Baker said 30,000 tickets had been sold on the radio interview (and that's the amount he said) I suppose he mean't that was our total sales including day of game "walk up." One of this school's all time supporters who has been around for just about forever & whose word has always been reliable told me during a half time this Fall that we had "36,000" Mean Green fans at that HOD Bowl game. Personally, I don't care what someone pays for their tickets just so they show up. Same for games at Apogee since most of us have never seen an empty seat buy a coke, hot dog, T-shirt, MG gear, etc. GMG!
  13. AD Wren Baker said on his radio interview on the Gainesville station that we sold 30,000 tickets last time. Obviously, Game Day "walk up" sales of less expensive tickets was not part of the 30k. If we break the record of whatever it was vs UNLV I think walk up sales will be the key. 1'st Responder ticket sales could be a boon. I think this game being 2 days after Christmas helps with getting even more Cadets to this bowl game. Like many of you I will still purchase the $75 tickets thinking that will help us (again) with HOD Bowl officials down the road. Hard to believe 2016 NCAA semi-finalist & Crimson Tide foe U of Washington was in the Heart of Dallas Bowl game last year. This bowl is hardly a chopped liver affair based on past teams. GMG!
  14. That national televised event yesterday with many rich, famous & high ranking politicians in attendance absolutely does raise the profile of our bowl game. Now there will be many more Cadets & former Cadets show up at the Cotton Bowl stadium to support their team that "only" broke a 15 yr losing streak to Navy. When we hosted Texas A & M at Texas Stadium years ago I looked around at the Mean Green side & saw fans who I knew that I'd never seen in the 70's at Fouts who I guess wanted to be seen at that "happening" event. I think that may now happen (again) at the HOD Bowl game but what the hell...there is room for all no matter any fans reasons to be there. Some may even stick with our program. It should be fun for all. GMG! BEAT ARMY!
  15. We once signed 7 from Dallas Carter HS one Winter. Add: Aledo, Port Arthur Lincoln & Houston Stratford
  16. Only makes sense that with Army beating Navy today that more cadets & West Point alums in the Southwest will show up to support their team especially for a bowl game. In the mid 90's when we hosted Army in Texas Stadium for a regular season game they brought an impressive crowd to that game. If weather is decent on Dec. 27'th I believe we'll also have good Game Day walk-up sales, too. GMG!
  17. Now it's my fault? How rich.? Shouldn't we all be attempting to be upbeat to encourage the purchase of bowl tickets by new fans & students who if they are reading all this tommyrot may say: "Thanks but no thanks to this." I just don't see constant criticism of any of our players as edifying. A potential recruit reading this may also say: "No thanks! No wonder this program has had problems with this kind of verbal bashing & non-support for even a true freshmen who appears to have played his heart out." ➡️ At one time this board tried to dissuade this kind of criticism of our players or keep it at a minimum. Why not celebrate a 1 win team last year having a bowl game this year instead of hammering on players who helped us get this bowl game? Look at how many 5 win teams didn't get a bowl game this year? Fry once took a 4 win SMU team to a bowl back in the early 60's, but if you happen to see the results of that game today it's never says: "Oh by the way, SMU only won 4 games to get this bowl."
  18. Why don't you & about 2 others of you take this QB subject & apparent revelations on the Fine aspects of this subject to Seth Littrell. I know he'd be interested since he chose the starting QB for every game this season. Also, because I think the rest of us know by now how all your hardy handful feel about the true freshman. Harry or Cerebus:. Is it near close to time of shutting this thread down to any more responses? Seems all that can be said has been said. Just sayin'...
  19. Yes, it would have been nice to have had a UNT veteran QB who would have been in a system for Mason to under-study, but he didn't so how some used to describe what happened to him this season from a 1 win team the previous season is....... "he was basically thrown to the wolves." I like how Mason handled the wolves and told a GMG.com power that be that in a phone conversation last week....he more than concurred. We both like Fine's upside very much. GMG
  20. Live arm? I think back to the opening drive for a touchdown against MUTS. Didn't Fine complete about 6 or 7 in a row against one of the better teams in CUSA? I think back to Darrell Royal's UT QB's & how none of his were ever drafted by the NFL to play on Sunday, but they were good, functioning college quarterbacks who were (as I see Mason Fine ) effective field generals managing a well balanced offensive game plan. DKR won 2 national championships with QB's the NFL never considered. Here is some of the MUTS game and its opening drive for a TD as led by Mason Fine. GMG!
  21. I would think it would be inside. They should print the Game Day itinerary soon.
  22. See phone info in my below signature.?
  23. We went from 1 win to 5 to a bowl because of the APR. Are we being a bit impatient considering the diasaster against Portland State last Fall--a fired staff & a newly hired staff who arrived too late to put their signature on their 1'st recruiting class?
