  1. Because FW & TCU better support the AF Bowl, the Army/North Texas game would (I assure you) have been a sellout at Amon Carter Stadium. Also because a DFW & Texas school would have been in that game, too. I love the way Cowtown "finally" adopted TCU as "the Home Team" years ago with bumper stickers expressing same. When that finally happened TCU began to ascend to where they are now. GMG!
  2. I like the sound of 4 star!⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Especially if it stays 4 star at the college level.
  3. Most times nice sometimes mean--but no doubt ' about it: ✳️?WE ALL BLEED GREEN!?✳️ HAPPY NEW YEAR, FELLOW GREENIES!
  4. It's not about our past--but what happpens with most progressive programs that are projected to have 45,000 students; who will have over 250,000 alums within 1 hour of their alma mater's campus football stadium; and a school located in a county that's only a few years from having a population of 1,000,000. ❓Who out there actually thinks Wren Baker took the UNT A.D. job based on our past for crissakes❓ So it's not about attendance for the moment with a 40k stadium, but rather culling out the schools who average 10k (give or take) & want as much TV revenue as (say) a Southern Miss or a Marshall of which both those schools have had great attendance most decades. This G5 committee may have good intentions, but they'd be enslaving up & comers (like UNT still is) to stay down at their level with some kind of a "2'nd Hand Rose" playoff. They'd indenture schools who want to be like our former conference mates, i.e., Louisville, Boise State, Cincinnati, Memphis & (yes) U of Houston. I hope our present UNT powers have that as part of their grand scheme of knocking the lid off this can we've caused ourselves to be inside way too long. If we keep wallowing around with the NCAA's total "have nots" who will stay at that level we're going to start thinking like them & believing we don't deserve any better. A few of you are there now as you can only seem to base our future on our past--a bridge to nowhere. ✳️ Like it or not, UNT is in a major league sports market & only the few, the brave & the bold will support a program that doesn't aspire to aim toward & be part of this major league sports market. GMG!
  5. She would take her false teeth out.
  6. Any school flirting with going up the totem pole (like many at our level) should be required to have a minimum 40,000 seat stadium which would cull out many of the pretenders. Then re-form FCS to where our schools would have a chance for more TV revenue from ESPN & the big boys since we're talking way fewer members at that level due to the new 40k stadium minimum criteria. Yes, we'd need to add 9k more seat, but Apogee was built for expansion. GMG!

  8. More from Mars at Apogee? Can you dig it?
  9. And go bowling at Weatherford's new Film Alley that the Fort Worth Star-Telegram described as "the largest entertainment center west of Dallas." 8 tavern style Schulman movie screens, 16 bowling lanes, huge arcade, 8 more bowling lanes in a VIP section, a full service restaurant & a watering hole right here in 'widdle ol' Weatherford, Texas, America!
  10. Agree.
  11. Their names again or would that create bad karma to say them?? Methinks we will flip some more recruits we couldn't talk to before the bowl among many reasons but especially because our fans & alums showed DFW, Texas & the ESPN TV audience that we give a damn about this football program & its future......going forward at the end of the day. ?
  12. We've already been D1-AA in the past & this proposal reeks of those days. The perception aspects of that is also one helluva' gorilla to get off a school's back. Been there done that folks & many of us will tell you we do not want to go down that road again. Why flaunt to the sports world we're G5 & that's all a school will ever be? Some schools in no growth outposts with "we've done all we're ever going to do" MO's will gravitate that direction, but I'd bet most of CUSA, the AAC & the MWC who still have their dreams of being the next Louisville or Boise State will say: No dice
  13. Double vision? I've got pics of the 2014 HOD Bowl game from every angle so why does it look like we were getting close to the same support numbers-wise?There wasn't really that many in the upper deck in 2014 Still, considering our less than .500 season & 2 days after Christmas on a work day to boot our fan support blew many of us away. HOD officials & associates did a better job of getting more unaffiliated fans out this time. That is the key to going to the next attendance level for this bowl. For instance, many from FW & TCU take local pride & support their local Bowl better than HOD, but maybe that's changing.
  14. I called myself a bad name when I couldn't find my car keys just an hour ago. Light sleeper here, but Type 2 "D" they say is the cause of that. Will I get a demerit for calling myself a bad name? Just askin'...
  15. Look how long it took to judge many of Todd Dodge's recruits (for the most part). Didn't most of his last recruiting class play a huge role winning a bowl game at the Cotton Bowl stadium on January 1, 2014? Fun to talk recruiting as it's a Lone Star State tradition, but some times might it be said we don't know what the hell we're talking about when judging our coach's recruits? ➡️ Look how in the 70's & part of the 80's how UNT played the Texas Longhorns to the finish line? How did their recruiting classes rank verses ours? How many multi-star recruits or Top 10 recruiting classes did they have compared to ours? I know, all that kinda' takes all the fun out of recruiting & "woe is us--we're screwed" talk.? GMG!
  16. Couldn't have said it any better & had I tried it would have been much longer.? We're all hoping Seth Littrell breaks this long cycle. GMG!
  17. Great find, LetsGiveACheer! I posted it on my Facebook. GMG!
  18. And North Texas has yet to play the HOD contracted Big 10 school. Our game being 2 days after Christmas & on a work day with our UNT support blew away many I spoke to. Super alum George Derr asked our older nestors tailgate group "hey fellers, remember back in the day when we knew most our fans by first name?!?" ? GMG!
  19. Haven't we seen this "Oh God we're going to lose our coach" theme just a few times, UNT90?? When I was much younger I was probably just as guilty!? Best part of this is many give a damn to care.
  20. Was at my local Weatherford Race Track today & an employee saw my UNT shirt & he went on & on about our bowl game & how our players never quit then commented how "they almost won the damn game!" A UNT alum with me who hadn't seen a game since 2011 said he had a great time at the Cotton Bowl stadium even in a loss. He was impressed how our team kept coming back & the entire presentation by HOD officials.
  21. I'd rather have a coach someone else wants than not. We've had enough "nots" many of our older alums adult lives since the late 1970's. Boise State lost 4 or 5(?) HFC's in the course of a little over a decade, but kept reloading with new ones who still kept the Broncos in the Top 25 after each coaching change. It was amazing to observe that happening with their program. A UNT HFC needs 3-4 consecutive good recruiting classes, defeating a P5 or 2 or a ranked team for any school to look toward Denton again, but thats just my opinion on that subject. Seth Littrell will probably be our first HFC with apparent desires of staying who will use Apogee & the Mean Green Village as true positive selling points (which they truly are). Not sure after McCarney had his stroke if he saw UNT as a long term job. A stroke for many of middle age usually means a time to slow down or even retire. GMG!
  22. Fort Worth Star Telegram Mean Green beat reporter John Henry gave North Texas a very nice upbeat front sports page bowl coverage in today's Star Telegram. He added all these North Texas Coach Seth Littrell quotes: "We may not have accomplished our mission of winning a bowl game, but these men sitting up here & those downstairs accomplished a lot this season setting a solid foundation. Although we didn't win we got better today." Seth Littrell added: "What a fun game, two really competitive teams getting out there, guys that made plays...a lot of true freshmen out there making plays, playing this game, and that experience is invaluable. I think our future is very bright. I think we've got men that are learning what it looks like, understand what our culture is going to be moving forward, and I'm excited to get back to work." Grandpa's slow...but Grandpa's old. Hey! I kinda' like this Red ink thing. . PS 2: Anyone know how long our home and home series with Army is?
