  1. You are on the North Texas football forum bud. Why we suppose to care about anything from Florida except Minute Maid orange juice?
  2. Just curious (and hopeful) but where would 4 3 star recruits put us? Don't we have a JUCO or 2 in school now that were 3 stars post HS graduation? (I know they don't count but just curious again).
  3. Maybe three or even four 3 star recruits now? Never say never. (I still can't get over how UT "stole" a 2 star lineman from UHouston, though). Would three 3 stars tomorrow get us in CUSA's top 5 or 6 recruiting classes? GMG!
  4. This will be a nice addition to Denton. Not too far off I-35 at the Newton Rayzor Ranch land area. Wonder if the Mean Green Village will have something similar in its future? I'd bet they could find the space for it. Some of you remember when Mr. Rayzor hosted a Mean Green Club gathering at his ranch with all his Longhorn cattle nearby? Former Fry assistant and later UNT AD the late Andy Everest once told a handful of us that Rayzor would call him at all times of the morning just to talk about....everything.
  5. There you go! Some of you predicted some 3 star surprises! Load the wagons!
  6. So might you want to go over to the UT board and heckle them for wanting a "lowly" 2 star offensive linemen?
  7. UT with a 2 star offensive lineman? Oh, the humanity! Again.......2 star recruits really can become special. Coach Littrell and staff developed a few to get us to 5 wins last Fall. I believe North Texas is (unknowingly or is it by default) going with the Boise State model when player development from lightly regarded Bronco recruiting classes took them to the next level of the NCAA and annual Top 25 ranked teams. GMG! We want you in Mean Green Country, Tre'von! We really do! GMG!
  8. Apogee Stadium? Former Dallas Cowboy Super Scout Gil Brandt who computerized the NFL draft after his tour of Apogee said: "Apogee Stadium is the Taj Mahal of college football and trust me, I've seen every football stadium in the NCAA." So Gil Brandt was selling Apogee Stadium before any of our coaches back then seemed to be.
  9. Sweet! Very sweet! GMG!
  10. Looks like a bust or boom class tomorrow--no in between. I vote for......
  11. Great research to make your point, TTG. Feel better? My North Texas experience as a student apparently different than many. I actually witnessed 4 winning seasons in a row & still have our 1975 season as the bell cow as far as what & where a school approaching 40K students with a quarter of a million North Texas Exes in DFW should be. I hope we have a good day on Wednesday no matter what the reviews & reviewers are saying now. I think we all want that. GMG!
  12. How fast will it take for some to do a 180 if Seth & company hit a grand slam in the 9'th inning for this recruiting class? ? We all wanted 5 star recruits galore, but some of our best teams were a group of 2 star unknowns that became at least 3 stars at the college level that became bowl teams. We've had 6 bowl teams since 2000--not world beating but hardly the kind of half century walk in the wilderness of the pre Bill Snyder Kansas St. football program, either. Our problem for many of our alum's multi-decade adult lives has been in who we hire. The last coach should have been encouraged to resign when his health hit the skids--he didn't, I believe the ever present dark cloud of having a stroke affected his performance & UNT gets stuck with yet another contract buyout. All this while a brand spanking new stadium sat there on our west campus waiting for someone to recruit toward it. We'd become a haven of rest for many & the W/L records back it up. ➡️ No matter how good our class is this week I still feel UNT should go into pro-active over-drive & (still) hire away whatever assistant coach/recruiter from said opponent school who is giving us fits on the recruiting trails. That assistant who is loading his present school with 3 star recruits galore (& legally). There is no rule that says we can't do such. Recruiting is a contact sport.
  13. Sounds good! GMG!
  14. SUMG makes a good case for scheduling ?Brigham Young U home & home. They have schedule openings as I understand it. Lots of Mormans in DFW--lots!
  15. Not real worried about losing many future Texas HS Products to MUTS even if we've lost this one. We still have better facilities & location for a kid who graduates & wants a good job in the DFW area where almost a quarter of a million North Texas Exes reside. All schools are not getting every one they want.
  16. ✅ At the end of the day UH (like UNT) is still a G-5 program in a conference that doesn't have any better Bowl ties than CUSA. UH recently shot their last wad for this generational timeline to get in the Big 12 conference. HINT: The Big 12 doesn't want another Texas school in their consortium, especially Baylor & TCU. As a former UH fan since the 60's I can tell you they have been there--done that & (once again) are a G-5 school just like North Texas. In fact, after the Big 12 snub last Fall the UH president said there will soon be some dramatic athletic budget changes on Cullen Blvd. (& that does not mean an increase). ➡️ UH was really counting on a B-12 membership to solve their present athletic budget over-reach. North Texas just needs to get back to the level we were when we beat the Houston Cougars 28-0 at Texas Stadium the year before they entered what would be a limited stay in the Southwest Conference. Why not North Texas? ✳️Great school for academics! ✳️Great location for one who stays in DFW for a job after graduation! ✳️Apogee Stadium & the Mean Green Village with an Indoor Practice Facility apparently on the near horizon. ➡️ ✳️KTCK 1310 "The Ticket" personality Norm Hitzghes asked: "Why not North Texas as the next school to move up a la Boise State? ✳️Why wouldn't any UNT recruit not want to be part of something special; that is, be part of what even the regional sports media says could be so athletically & culturally dramatic as that which could happen on our burgeoning campus in Denton, Texas, America? ✳️Why not North Texas? GMG!
  17. Put saltpeter in the Gatorade? This could hurt this Baylor recruiting class with some parents who might ask their sons to think long & hard about their choice. (No pun intended, of course).
  18. Wonder how long some of them stayed up & studied for the urine test? (dad joke, of course).
  19. Hmmm? Green Brigade plays theme of "Ben Hurr" & "Chariots of Fire?"? Lets combine our long time influence with the UNTCOM & get on that project, Silver!?
  20. Do we have Houston's recruiting list? After all, we used to be in a conference with Houston & even now the AAC is not exactly light years ahead of CUSA. GMG!
  21. The model we have avoided is one much more successful than Memphis & that is the Boise State model. Norm Hitzghes on his top rated radio show once asked after Apogee opened: "Why not North Texas as the next Boise State?" (If you set low goals you will likely meet them). GMG! PS: If UNT signed 3 additional recruits with 3 stars how quickly would that put us in the CUSA top 3 classes? Never say never. ❓What if 5 of our 2 star recruits got coached into 3 star quality their true or RS freshmen year? ➡️ So many variables that could turn chopped liver into chicken salad. Proceed recruiting experts.
  22. I cannot think of a time when we have recruited so many linemen and with a few signing Mean Green LOI's could make for a very nice class. GMG!
