  1. It would be the HOD Bowl officials dream game as far as attendance & selling tickets is concerned. Easy to predict a Mean Green vs Red Raiders matchup would be close to or maybe even be the HOD Bowl's largest attendance game; especially since UNT has already brought 35K to 40K Mean Green fans against UNLV. We had another great turnout of fans dressed in green last year vs Army. http://www.meangreensports.com/genrel/022715aaa.html
  2. And I'm sure Fry was the only coach in the history of the NCAA (who had a good team) that did that? He could not have gotten his team in the Top 20 on his single vote alone was what one college sports expert of that era told me when I asked. (Little ol' unworthy of anything NTSU had to have other votes to get in). Good luck, NewDenton, in overcoming our illustrious teachers college past & the Nestor's on the downtown square who've had a corner of the Denton college $tudent market for about 125 years. (That group & all their customer$ could have easily filled the rest of Apogee last Saturday night---but---didn't). Some things still seem to stay the same. Maybe Wren Baker can change it. GMG!
  3. TRAP GAME? Don't feel good about this game at all. Please......injury free?
  4. Tech received an SWC invite in 1956. Fry's UNT Assoc. AD DeWitt Weaver I believe was the TT HFC in 1956. I cannot remember the last time the Red Raiders actually won a conference championship (outright) in football. They did tie for an SWC football championship one season. Texas Tech put one entire side of (then) Jones Stadium on railroad ties to move it closer to the field. That was considered quite an engineering feat of that era. GMG
  5. H-Towners, Sonny Looks Sirloin still open? Make the short drive to Galveston & eat at Guidos off the sea wall near Stewart Beach--I know it's still in business. Is Bill Bennetts still open or am I really showing some extra crow's feet by asking?πŸ€”πŸ™„(We'd go there after some UH Coog games in the Astrodome but that's been awhile back, of course). Used to be a BB's in Rosenberg where our HS football team ate many post/game meals for out of town games. GMG!
  6. Sumlin ain't done yet as a high profile FBS HFC. He's smooth, polished & just had the wrong deal down there in the Brazos River bottomland. If we were looking I hope he'd be toward the top of our list if not at the top. My gut tells me we have SL for another 3-4 years & that's a good thing.
  7. Bobby Bowden's FSU SEMINOLES would have played before a Fouts Field sellout in 1976 according to Wayne Ray (Ticket Mgr) had we not had a half foot snow storm on that Game Day. Seminoles had a great snowball fight after that game, though. It was a funny thing to watch. GMG!
  8. Did I read somewhere on this forum English might still play in the final 2 games after we play Rice? GMG!
  9. Trying to temper this, but can't. Right now he's the best I've seen at North Texas doing all that he does. He hits receivers on those sideline patterns like an NFL'er. Now I just hope our recruiting goes to the next level because we have one helluva school & football venue to sell toward. They can also start recruiting toward the IPF now if it's going to be completed within 2 years. It's All Good! It's all Green! (right, FFR)?
  10. Should have scheduled TSU-San Marcos instead. They'd bring 5k paying fans & right now would be more beatable than Liberty. We have to schedule some teams just like TCU use to know exactly when to schedule us which was never in the 1950's, 1960's & 1970's. GMG!
  11. About 27,000 did the other night at Apogee & we'll have 30K-40K traveling Bowl fans whether it be FW, Dallas or Shreveport.
  12. Almost 27,000 at Apogee other night (minus Army faithful) are glad SL accepted that call from Locust Grove. A Tulsa Golden Hurricane beat writer now wonders why they didn't recruit Fine. (Is this Heaven or Iowa going on here of late)? GMG!
  13. With a passion we need to sign the contract to continue this series. I noticed many Mean Green fans having a blast fraternizing with Cadets & Army fans at pre-game tailgating. We get coverage in New York & surrounding areas, too, where we would eventually be known enough to get Top 25 votes from a very important media part of the country. GMG!
  14. BπŸ’°UπŸ’°LπŸ’°L SπŸ’°HπŸ’°IπŸ’°T ! πŸ’ΈπŸ’ΈπŸ’ΈπŸ’ΈπŸ’ΈπŸ’ΈπŸ’ΈπŸ’ΈπŸ’Έ
  15. Is this you? Upvote! We need "ALL" our fans to come to the MG family dinner table. Now we can officially have a food fight! Welcome back from your sabbatical! I've had to take a few thru the years to keep my sanity from those who kept rubber stamping mediocrity & pay raises for such.πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™‚οΈ WE ARE... NORTH TEXAS & NewDenton (and there's no turning back now)! GMG!
  16. We beginning to remind me of a conservative political party in the USA who eats its own. (I'm Indy--not part of that 3 ring clowns circus). Come on folks. BV is A-OK even if we don't like a theme or 2 he writes from time to time. (He just doing his job)? And I say that before I took any of my meds & herbs this morning.😳 Wala! Just took them & I still feel the same way. GMG!
  17. πŸ‘πŸ‘ At Louisiana's State Fair (all aluminum) stadium I once watched the late, great Mean Green defensive lineman Walter Chapman knock a football loose(lose) from a La Tech RB who from the 5 yard line was fixin' to score the winning touchdown in the closing seconds of the game. We recovered. MEAN GREEN WIN! (1'st & only time we played in that venue). Only a 5 hour drive from my ranchero. GMG!
  18. Wonder how we'd fare against SMU now!
  19. Fact is many G5's going bowling are not going to be fully satisfied having another G5 school as their opponent. Sure, we'd be happy with even a "former" member school of a P5 conference as our bowl opponent since they'd have some semblance of name ID, but we should know from past experience that those kind of schools will not be overjoyed with "1" winning season in a row North Texas. Now had we had a run of 7-8 winning seasons in a row that could make some difference, but how long has it been since that happened at our favorite school? GMG!
  20. Been around all this Mean Green business almost half a century. Off & on but mostly on. I turn 99 this week (kiddin') but I've rarely seen our situation so well put together & well stated. πŸ‘πŸ‘ Yes, a media coach could be in order for all concerned. More winning will mean more TV interviews-- for coaches & players.
  21. I & others were on the Mason Fine bandwagon before he threw his first Mean Green pass, and most of us never down played or dissed his competition for starting QB, either. I like who our backup QB just happens to be. Hope we build enough lead in our bowl game that 'Shan gets some serious playing time. GMG!
  22. Insert Handel's Hallelujah Chorus & don't forget to stand (per King George's example). WOW! Movin On Up! (Insert that TV theme song, too)! Time for some Top 25 votes, too! (if we were located on the northeastern seaboard, we'd be getting those now).
  23. If you were HFC at U of Kansas or Iowa St. would you turn down a job interview (& job offer) at U of Michigan? We ain't the only ones who face this dilemma from time to time & you all know it. if we got beat by FAU by the same score (& we won't) we still on this theme? "We all have our fickled fans moments." Dr. Phil? GMG! PS: Relax, breathe & count to 12 (& 3)! BEAT THOSE PESKY RICE OWLS!
  24. How we do at FAU & our bowl game will probably be major determining factors for "said school" putting "an only 2 yrs at UNT" SL on their check list. Season obviously ain't over yet, folks. I think our slow start of the last 2 years in recruiting Texas HS talent is not a plus for SL. I think that he & staff will make a remarkable upward turn this recruiting season, though. He's here at least another 2 or 3 Years IMHO. Note: Funny the difference a year makes inasmuch that the UTSA HFC had 17 3 star recruits last year & was not too shabby the year before but....how many times is his name being mentioned now for a new coaching gig? (I'm sure I'll get another quick -1 from regular GMG.com visitor Rowdy and/or the other 2 regular visitors from UTSA with that being said)! Seth also has some pretty cool things to look forward to as well with an almost $20 million Indoor Practice Facilty at the top of the list. GMG!
  25. Go to Fouts Parking lot for $10. Arrive about 1 1/2 hour before the kick-off. You can walk over to Apogee pretty quick and its not that long a walk. Sorta' neat walking over I-35E. Good view of Pilot Knob, too
