Kansas State vs. North Texas HOD being projected by SI
PlummMeanGreen replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
IMHO we need to coalesce another mega-crowd of Mean Green fans locally at the HOD hoping there will be a very nice ❇️colorful❇️ flyer of a pic of Apogee Stadium & info on how each fan who brings a HOD ticket stub or the flyer (or whatever) can get 50% off a "Family Plan For 4" with all its food & drink percs for our 2018 home opener or any variation of this or....anything that gets them up to Denton & the Wing Zone. CBS 11 Live in Denton with Coach Littrell
PlummMeanGreen replied to ScrappyD's topic in Mean Green Football
Bump! You gotta see the D Magazine feature & video. ✅ If one of you can create a new thread on the D Magazine UNT feature & put it on GMG.com please do so. Not sure of this magazine's circulation but I see it at Walmart, doctors offices, coffee tables at auto repair places, etc. We keep all this up & watch for Texas Monthly getting on the Mean Green Bandwagon! One of our great alums just shared an unbelievable feature from "D Magazine" (just out) about ""GET ON THE MEAN GREEN BANDWAGON NOW!" on my Facebook page with a special highlights video! ➡️ I'm on my IPhone or I'd post it here. ( Baby Boomer computer illiteracy)? This thing is getting out of control, folks! You gotta' love it! 😃💚💚👍👍. We all deserve it, especially all you "older" alums. :) Thanks to Smatresk, the BOR's, Wren Baker, SL & the MEAN GREEN for laying the groundwork for even greater & mightier things! -

PlummMeanGreen replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
Honestly, hope he stays but if he left we make a mad dash after Kevin Sumlin. Last coach we hired who left Denton above .500 in career wins was a fired former HFC from another ex SWC school.- 74 replies

KSU would bring more fans than TTech IMHO. KSU brought a big bunch to Denton at the Fouts Field swan song game. GMG!- 36 replies

LET'S GET REAL HERE...(a mini-manifesto of sorts). We've had our low attendance moments for sure, but SMU's attendance problems makes us look like we're on the cusp of solving ours. (As a fan of Texas intercollegiate football, I wish we were all selling out our various stadia). SL? Let's have a Top 40 recruiting class or 2 or 3 plus a few annual finishes close to (as in votes?) or end of season finishes inside the Top 25 before we worry that we're losing the 2'nd Coming (of Another Oklahoman)--DKR? ➡️ I think if he stayed, SL can do all the aforementioned mentioned above & to a much more appreciative fan base with thousands & thousands of more fans than he'd have at SMU. SMU has all but bottomed out in the area of attendance. We know how they must feel.. Also, our present level of P5 competition against some schools I (honestly) never heard of the day we beat Tennessee in 1975 will be looked at. Some out there looking for a HFC may look at UNT the way they may be looking at FAU as in--"do we have a One Hit Wonder thing going on here?" STILL KEEP'N IT REAL...Look how (understandably) excited we all get after one above .500 season & how many of those have we had the last 20 years? (We have had plenty of 2 giant steps forward--4 giant steps backward moments since I graduated in 1976, though). Those times in our history need to become a thing of our OldDenton past. DON'T KID YOURSELVES➡️NCAA COACHES DO LIKE TO WALK SIDELINES BEFORE SOLD OUT STADIUMS .....If AD Baker can find the magic formula to get our most impressive traveling HOD bowl fan base up to Apogee we'd have a sold out on-campus football stadium on a regular basis like, uh, over night? PROBLEM SOLVED! 👍👍 GMG! PS: I think expanded lanes on the new Super-I-35 from Dallas to Denton will also be part of that formula for many of our fans; and to an extent from Fort Worth to Alliance to Denton on I-35W.- 74 replies

North Texas’ bowl predictions ranked
PlummMeanGreen replied to Salsa_Verde's topic in Mean Green Football
Was the writer on meth when he wrote this article about North Texas vs whoever at whatever Bowl? Journalists are a rare commodity in this country of late. GMG! -
👍👍 for Apogee Stadium! I sat in Fouts Field from 1973 to 2010 & others did much longer than me so I have no complaints concerning fabulous Apogee Stadium whatsoever. The sound & light features really adds to Game Day. I believe a new sound system is in the plans? "It's a Taj Mahal of college football stadiums (& I've seen them all)." * Quote of Ex Dallas Cowboys Super Scout Gil Brandt after he first toured Apogee. ** Brandt was the first to use a computer for the NFL draft. GMG!

Upon further review, the bowl people, especially when it comes to p5's try to match bowls with who they think will travel the most fans to a regional bowl game. Of late, we bring more Mean Green fans to the HOD Bowl at the Cotton Bowl Stadium than we (presently) do at Apogee. When our AD finds the formula to get our bowl fans up to Apogee is when that stadium's expansion plans immediately goes to the top of the Mean Green Village construction list. ➡️ UNT has never had the old "SWC private schools luxury" of having 10K-15K traveling fans come to our campus stadia, but we will soon see how that worked for those schools when Texas Tech comes to Apogee in a few yrs. That would be the time when a (minimum) 40K seat Apogee will have come in handy. 💰💰💰There will be record-breaking gate receipts when the Red Raiders invade Apogee in a few. 👨👨👧 Our young gun alums will see such a day in their future while the rest of us are, uh, pushing up 💐..... tulips? 😳 GMG!

So "IF" FAU win this Saturday, they could "pick" the HOD bowl game?😳 That game offers the best known (Big 12) kind of opponent of all CUSA-affiliated bowl games. We need to win this Saturday, folks.

First of all, every one wants to play a Top 25 program in a bowl game no matter who they are-- P5 or G5 even UT-Austin & Texas Tech. Secondly, all those who thought Tech and UT were not going to get all condescending about playing us stand up! That's what I thought. Remain seated. * Remember what snobs OU fans were when they had to play the Boise State Broncos in the Fiesta Bowl? Arguably the best bowl game many of us had ever seen as the snobbish Sooners got their butts beat. Boise State had reached as high as #2 in the Top 25 that season. Not too shabby for our former conference mates, eh? Some of that attitude (certainly a small percent) is that they've been sucking hind teat last few years and UNT is showing signs of life and even breath fog in a mirror; the kind of life that beat Texas Tech 2 out of the last 3 times we played them in Lubbock and which inspired this: DO YOU BELIEVE IN THE MEAN GREEN? (that quote from the great George Dunham whose given us hundreds of thousands of dollars of free air time on KTCK 1310 "The Ticket" since 1995 when it went on the air). Texas intercollegiate colleges have always had a pecking order from the top to the bottom and the way you climb to the top of that order is win most every season, schedule & beat a few Top 25 schools and then get inside the Top 25 like our former Big West conference-mates Boise State did for years--even after they kept changing Head Football Coaches about every 2 or 3 years. _____________________________ BOISE STATE? This is some of the Broncos HFC's short tenures, but (amazingly) during this time changing coaches often the Broncos were establishing their football program as a perennial Top 25 program. Pokey Allen era (1993–1996) Houston Nutt era (1997) Dirk Koetter era (1998–2000) Dan Hawkins era (2001–2005) Chris Petersen era (2006–2013)

CUSA Championship Score Prediction Thread

Kiffin says he is sticking at FAU
PlummMeanGreen replied to Coach Bill Lewis's topic in Mean Green Football
I'm hearing the same thing, but Tennessee is in on the deal with Kiffin, too. He'd prefer SEC. Kiffin and other coaches need to tone it down when it comes to "job offers" time of the year. They can be deceptively misleading to their fan bases. Coach talk is the order of the day but try being as truthful as you can be? GMG -
This time of year "rumors" is the key word concerning almost anything happening in the NCAA--even bowl game matchups. GMG!

Same here. Please, no more outside the region teams unless its Big 10. GMG!

BRING IT, HORNS! 70K inside the Cotton Bowl Stadium! 40K-45K wearing green! 🤔 Is this heaven? (No, Joe, it's still Iowa, but with lots of people dressed in apple green & some in burn't orange)!

Recruiting will be toward the top of any list of any school looking for a new HFC. Honestly, I think SL's recruiting will officially take off this recruiting season based on wins, better attendance & the fact that the players have bought into his program. Potential recruits will see that when on campus, especially when they visit with our present players. Our "D" is where its at now because we don't have enough players to spell some fine athletes we already have on our "D"; but that mostly due to recruiting that took place before Seth Littrell was hired. Guess a school should then recruit solid every year or at least that's how it appears those perennial winning programs who have 7 or 8 winning season in a row do it. CAN YOU BLAME THEM FOR LOOKING & TESTING THE WATERS? (Always nice to be wanted)? Fry interviewed at (then) SWC Rice U after his 3'rd season at North Texas. Rice AD & former Owl great Dickie Moegle offered him the job as I recall reading in the DMN. Yet Fry (the forever salesman) came back to Denton saying he had a better job at North Texas. We got 3 more years from him before he took the Big 10 Iowa Hawkeye job. I hope we will get at least 3 more years from Seth Littrell so he can finish building the solid foundation he has going now. GMG!
