Here's hoping we can get some serious & instant JUCO help for our defense & offense line on our 2018 team. AND...will we ever see English play on this defense? What's his status or is it still a secret for whatever reason?

You can't coach speed & unbelievable (for a G5) team speed with talent killed our favorite team Saturday. Boise State became an annual Top 25 fixture with the kind of speed & talent we saw today & the Broncos used to be a fellow conference mate I always wanted our school to copy cat their program--we haven't yet. ❓Wonder why Lane K's predescessor couldn't coach what he recruited? He for certain left LK a tremendous cupboard of talent before he got fired. If FAU isn't a Top 25 team then all of us at the G5 level are wasting our time & inve$tment trying to become one.

Still, we had a 2 year recruiting lull in DMacs last 2 years. It showed today. That's why you have to pull in a good recruiting class every year instead of 1 every 4 years hoping all your projects develop. Today? Their defense team speed were running circles around our offensive line. Fine not the problem--their team speed was the problem. Seems like they were in our backfield before the ball was hiked! FAU looked like the U of Florida Gators last year. GMG!

NO EXCUSES! The year the Mean Green beat the UH Coogs 28 to 0 and then we beat those vaunted SEC Tennessee Vols 21-14 at General Neyland Stadium we got man-handled in our season opener that Fall to the tune of 61 to 7. So..........you just never know when the fickle finger of pigskin fate is going to dump on your parade---------you don't. Fact remains, we had a blaring 2 year hole in our recruiting that culminated in a Portland State disaster that Seth Littrell inherited....that is NOT on his plate, folks. Exceptional team speed by an opponent can make any team look extremely slow at times. FAU recruited for team speed & Lane Kiffen was the beneficiary of it. GMG!

It's ""FRY" without the "E" dammit! :) ...the purple for the word "without" in honor of TCU who received a little paddling of their own, today, by the OU Sooner Boomers! ______________________________________ The Moral for all who lost today is: Shit happens to every college football team who ever played the game & even ever once in awhile. Remember last time shit happened to TCU when lil' ol' U of North Texas schooled the Horned Frogs in the art of playing college football (?) ......and......FAU hasn't seen the last of NORTH TEXAS nor have all 24 of their fans, either.

I would tend to agree with you, BTG__Fan1. We need to really broaden our competitive horizons beyond the Sun Belt & to another NCAA geographical region (for possible future T25 votes) & that is not saying Troy doesn't have a good team by any means. GMG!

Yes, BG, we seriously need to step it up in recruiting. Gray Eagle said it not long after Apogee opened & I still agree with him that we have yet to recruit to Apogee Stadium to this day. Apogee is arguably the best thing to happen to North Texas football in my adult lifetime. We cannot allow it to become a Super Pit 2.0, though, as in..........Great Venue--Few Good Teams.

We'll be alright....we just all be disappointed. Honestly, I watched the "highlights" of our first game with FAU for the first time just yesterday and I was blown away by their team speed & I mean---I WAS BLOWN AWAY! I had hope today--we all had hope today, but we going to have to recruit all future hope and I won't mind if we get about 4 JUCO's who can play many, many minutes next Fall. GMG! PS: I think back to the 1981 season which was Bob Tyler's "only' season when we won 1 game. Might have been the worst season for many of us Mean Green fans who can still remember. Nothing will ever get that bad again.

Senior moment of being redundant all over again? It's humbling & many times embarrassing to get old, but at least I still have some memory left in the Mean Green Moments part of my brain--the rest is probably all gray matter. GMG!

Mean Green fans are forgiving fans. Remember UTEP end of last season? Yet remember how many of us bought tickets to the HOD Bowl game again? Don't burn our barn down to kill a few mice, fellow MG fans and alums. We've survived far worse. Hell, I'm still celebrating our wins over UTSA, USM, La Tech, UAB and others. GMG!

Again, obviously seems FAU's prior staff recruited better & more players with speed than what DMac left behind for SL. I know this is America and we always have to blame somebody and we usually do, but I choose to blame the ones who were here prior to Seth Littrell who (seemedly) were not planning on staying long in Denton so they recruited that way in the end and eventually sprung a Portland State on us for all to see. Just sayin'...

What's happening today is not totally on our present coaching staff's plate. The 2 classes prior to Seth Luttrell's arrival were from a coaching staff who had a Def. Coord. that when hired was told he didn't have to leave the Denton city limits to recruit future defensive stars. Imagine that? Having a Def. Coordinator who would usually be the main guru of HS defensive talent, yet ours not being on the Texas HS recruiting hotbeds like DFW, Houston, Beaumont, East Texas, etc, closing, closing, (always closing) the kind of kids who could have helped today? The next 2 recruiting classes are vital. They will be Seth's 3'rd and 4'th class & not really sure how much time he had to recruit for his 1'st class truth be told. I know he did answer a call from a kid from Oklahoma, though. BUT....Haven't we had a helluva' good time with what he SL did with his first 2 recruiting classes? This was one of my all time favorite seasons as a Mean Green fan in spite of what happened to us twice in Boca Raton. We will all survive--we always do. GMG! Just think...we have an almost $20 million Indoor Practice Facility on the way. Does FAU? If so, they could play all their future games in it with bleachers for all their fans.

Can we slow this damn game down on their part. (bad Dad joke)? Nevermind. The FAU players act like they all have hot dates waiting and we are slowing them down from getting to them. This needs to get better. Maybe NO"s would be the best bowl. I don't see how Troy could be this damn fast. This what's happening today was the fear of many of us me'thinks. Speed kills. Never watched "lowlights" video of the last game until yesterday and my thoughts: Good Gawd', who we playing here, Ala'freakin'Bama?

Their speed is phenomenal. Can't coach speed, right? Come on Mason, MAGIC TIME!

Early on we look like boys among men. Not sure I've seen a first year HFC in the NCAA have such a quick success as Kiffin. What the hell kind of mojo does this guy have anyway? Their players look like speed merchants from every position thus far. I don't know, fellers. Still early but... How close can we keep it until we find ourselves is my main question. GMG!

Cancel Army game? Did anyone else enjoy their Game Day experience at Apogee vs Army? I'm sure there was a very good reason to cancel Army. Someone else in the Lone Star State will sign them up. GMG!
