  1. Hey folks! UH's coach left for U of Texas 2 years ago; SMU's HFC left for (well, you know where) last year; Fla State's Jimbo Fisher left for TAMU last year and look at all the other HFC's who left for what appears to be on paper a better situation. This is old news now, but Boise State lost 4 HFC's in the space of about 8-10 years but you know what happened during most all those years of HFC turnovers? How's 'bout Boise State remained a Top 25 fixture most of the time. They were ranked #18 until yesterday after OSU drilled them in Stillwater but lets see how far they drop & if they drop out of the Top 25........... .........I'd bet the Broncos will find their way back in it because that is what they've built their program to do as an objective with their improved facilities and a stadium expansion several years ago. After we split from BSU when they were our Big West conference mates they started their move up the NCAA ladder. They had and have the formula--we should copy it in Denton. ONE GAME AT A TIME SO............LETS BEAT LIBERTY THIS NEXT SATURDAY! GMG!
  2. Still agreeing with you on this subject, ADLER! Didn't we all enjoy the national hoopla North Texas received today after our huge win over the Razorbacks? Will this be the last of such coverage this season? Probably so. Don't we deserve this kind of stage more than once a football season? Of course, what school & its fans would ever turn down what we experienced today? Is it back to OldDenton vs NewDenton? We know who needs to win that contest.
  3. I smell a kind of "the fix is in" kind of shenanigannery with CFU's dramatic upsurge. Some in the western part of the Metroplex do not want a QB from North Texas to fare well with their award. Ask FFR...he'll tell you about the politics on this side of DFW. Me'thinks Central Florida has probably received some good ol' Lone Star State hospitality, but I'll still vote for #6 for the 4'th day in a row next 24 hour cycle because when it concerns Mason Fine.............IT AIN'T OVER TILL IT'S OVER! If everyone who was at the Arkansas game today in Fayettville & we who watched it on TV would all vote...MASON FINE WOULD BE BACK IN THE LEAD! LET'S DO IT!
  4. It’s because (collectively) we haven’t been voting every 24 hour voting cycle. We can still catch up if each will vote now, then tomorrow at this same time & on & on. ➡️ We have the numbers to make this happen, but we can’t depend on “that other alum’ to take their slack. GMG !
  5. I took lots of Psych courses at the alma matter (UNT) of Dr Phil (where he received his PhD) but let me try to psychoanalyze that, too, Deep Green, after I take my cocktail of anti-depression meds, of course.🙄
  6. Told an alum right after we signed these 2 that we had one helluva’ possible story in the making & hoped we didn’t drop the ball on it. Seems Mason is insuring that we won’t! 👌
  7. THE TORTOISE & THE HARE.. On this Game Day against a high profile SEC opponent Harry’s GMG.com will have (undoubtedly) record heavy traffic so... ...if all who are signed into GMG.com “right now” will vote on the Davey O’OBrien Award simple math (& our enormous cyber fan base) will almost guarantee that by Kickoff in the Ozarks at 3:00 pm we could easily add at least 150 more votes on behalf of the MEAN GREEN NATION for Mason Fine. (#6 will sacrafice his body & lay it all on the field to win this game—what will we sacrifice as we sit in front of our keyboards sipping on cups ofcoffee)❓🤔 🙄 Being the Baby Boomer cynic that I am, me’thinks that other schools fans from (most likely) Texas are voting for the Central Florida QB to try to keep Mason & his supporters from getting any more “lights out” publicity than we’ve already been getting all week long, especially the last 24 hours with the announced largest contribution to North Texas Athletics in school history from all our newest MG folk hero’s—the Lovelace family of Denton, Texas, America! 🇺🇸 (Thanks, y’all)!🤠 GMG!
  8. Bump! Can we help Mason Fine win this thing? He's played a huge part in helping re-direct our culture to where many have dreamed for decades it could go. Note: You can vote every 24 hours
  9. A grateful (Mean Green) Nation thanks the Lovelace family a million times! 2.5 million matter a fact! Building should have their name on it, of course. Can't wait to see a closer to reality rendering of the IPF. GMG!
  10. To the Mean Green Coaches and the Mean Green football team: Yall have inspired many, many people! BEAT ARKANSAS!
  11. A literal Godsend for a school that deserves it & more. A special thanks to the Lovelace family for making this happen much sooner than later.
  12. Easy to say that the 1968 North Texas football team would have competed for the Southwest Conference championship—very easy to say. North Texas had integrated with Abner Haynes & Dr. Leon King about 15 years before UT beat Arkansas the next Fall & won the 1969 NCAA Football National Championship with the last all white team to do so. Again, North Texas had integrated 15 years earlier & lost some scheduled games with other (then) SWC schools because of it, but...at least Arkansas did not drop us on theirs & for that—a belated posthumous thanks to AD & Coach Frank Broyles & the UA administration of that era. GMG!
  13. Just voted again. Mason now behind 301 to 282. Come on Mean Green Nation!
  14. THIS IS HUGE! 👍👍
  15. North Texas may want to study what Brigham Young U is doing with their athletic program. Their fans do not want in the G5 Mountain West Conference. They are holding out to try to get to the level where there is TV revenue & still a chance to have a national presence. It would be a gutsy call for North Texas to do what BYU alums want for their school, but what the hell do we have to lose? Membership in the far flung Conference USA? Just speculating, that's all. GMG!
  16. This is what happens right before your family has you committed, but "happily" committed because your favorite college team just beat _______________________. (fill in the blank) :)
  17. Voted again after a 24 hour wait! Mason needs more votes, folks. GMG!
  18. AN EXTRA WRINKLE TO THIS STORY... When Ron Shanklin was an assistant coach for Corky Nelson he recruited the Fort Worth area. I invited Ron to drop by my office any time if in the west FW area & we’d go to Dos Gringos (then off 7’th St). Shanklin loved his Mexican food (as most we Texans do). Well, one particular day Ron dropped by my office with a friend from Dallas—the great ex North Texas All American Abner Haynes so the 3 of us load up & take off for my favorite Mexican eatery in the Cultural District of Cowtown. I had heard forever from folks like drex, Dallas Green, GrayEagle (and more recent) Deep Green about that game which I believe all of the aforementioned had attended. So while at the restaurant I go to the very one who could give his own account of “the Catch” (which became “the Non-Catch). Of course, Ron concurred with all who saw him catch that football for what would have been a huge win (our biggest) over the school that would play Darrell Royal’s Texas Longhorns the next Fall for the 1969 NCAA College Football National Championship. • Our favorite school was playing that high quality of college football, folks. (I was still in High School when that North Texas vs Arkansas game was played). Anyhow, the 3 of us talked about that game as we chowed down on fajitas & then our friend the late, great Ron Shanklin added this nugget: ❇️ ”You know, fellas, a few years after that game one of the Razorback stars of that Arkansas football team called me & said... “Ron, we know you guys won that football game.” To quote Paul Harvey: “And now you know the rest of the story.” Many of us on this board knew & loved Ron Shanklin & on the 29’th of this month when Joe Greene’s statue is unveiled I think some way/somehow “Shank’ will be there with us in spirit in an important historical day to honor our school’s greatest ambassador—his friend Mean Joe Greene. GMG!
  19. ✅ DONE! ❇️ impressive lead thus far for Mr. Fine.
  20. North Texas....48 Arkansas.........34 Mason Fine......Passes for ❇️•375 yards. ❇️•3 TD’s. ❇️•0 Interceptions GMG!
  21. I posted this back in 2013 but here tis' again----Mean Joe Greene and the North Texas Freshmen Team vs. Texas Tech As a Frosh' Joe Greene wore #72. GMG!
  22. Anyone visiting from Razorback Country would you have access to an archived film or video of our 1968 game with your favorite team? UNT fans would especially love to see the last part of the 4'th quarter. GMG! Added extra below on former Mean Green star, the late, great Ron Shanklin--friends to many of us on this forum. https://stillcurtain.com/2015/04/29/steelers-draft-legend-ronnie-shanklin/
  23. Our RB’s need to dart to extreme right or left a la Jeff when they get in a quagmire of human flesh 2-3 yards past our center. (OK, Grantland Rice I’m not)!🙄 GMG!
  24. With a 3 o’clock kick it could easily be a 1 day trip, but apparently a moot point. GMG!
  25. Just fans being fans. http://forums.hogville.net/index.php?topic=667727.0
