  1. Now we're getting some real ideas here!
  2. At a large school- I was able to have over half of my day be devoted to music. There is no way any student in my 2AA district could devote half of their schedule to anything (even Ag or athletics). Teachers are left fighting for students to share. Groups are left fighting for one day a week to rehearse, practice, or meet up because all the students are in drama, athletics, FBLA, band, Spanish Club, underwater basket weaving. To me, the benefits of a large school greatly outway the benefits of a small school. To the small percentage of kids that "falls through the cracks"... There's that small percentage of students at every school. 5% of 200 students just doesnt seem as offensive as 5% of 4,000 kids. The large stadium also offers venues for marching contests, soccer tournaments, football playoff games, and who knows what else.
  3. That would be awesome! I wonder who they got to record it? Or if they just grabbed it off the GB cd.
  4. .... <sigh>
  5. Also- for what it's worth. That stadium looked darn good full of green.
  6. I too have been waiting years for this! I was going to make a joke about the wind mills- but I noticed that they're there too!
  7. I'm rather surprised that they haven't been hyping the "Wingzone"... It's the signature of the stadium. It's in the logo of the stadium for crying out loud. It's the most marketable part of the stadium. Whatever promotion we come up with- it has to be huge. As far as I can tell, in the idea world: Alumni side for Alumni Student side for students Wingzone for random people from around the DFW, families, and groups that we offer promotions to Isn't this the ideal situation?
  8. A 600 person band is pretty ridiculous. But I know plenty of fine musicians that have come out of that band. They seem to be doing something right. I much prefer the larger school. Offers students a chance to become extremely specialized with what they want to to post-high school. At the small schools- students can only get a small sampling of what they can do at a high level.
  9. That's crazy... Just so crazy it just might work! But seriously- I kind of LOVE that idea.
  10. I dated a girl for 5 years. During these 5 years- I literally never heard her fart. And she was never in the bathroom long enough to poop.... 5 years! How did she keep that up??? When we broke up, I wanted to ask her how she did it, but the timing for that just didn't feel right for some reason.
  11. I knew someething was a little fishy about that a few years ago.
  12. I guess we are about to declare the Vote for Tony Campaign a success? I don't even remember getting to vote... Where were the polling locations? Are there polls still open? I need to vote.
  13. You forgot about us not going to the moon.
  14. Definitely excited about the silent auction! Since the gf's recital is in the evening- I should be able to make the whole event next weekend!
  15. My girlfiend is having a recital that day, which prevents me from participating in the game. However, I should be able to slip away at some point to bid on items. What time should I make it over?
  16. Now we're talking! These are the ideas that we need! I think RV should find 10 people to give him 100 dollars. And those 10 find another 10 to give them 100 dollars. And those 10 and so on! That would be a super easy way to get the Athletics Department some quick money.
  17. For what it's worth- the GB is getting new uniforms. I've seen them. They look pretty awesome. I give up on this argument.
  18. That isn't the pregame show. This is halftime. Not like the pregame Michigan show you put up earlier. -- Here is the pregame show from 1996. It had a fanfare, the school song, and a pretty awesome arrangement of America the Beautiful. Green Brigade 1996 This is the closest thing I can think of for what you're looking for. But the GB will never march high knees and run around the field like a bunch of crazy college kids, it's just not their thing.
  19. Best one yet
  20. Is there even the slightest chance that this could happen? I don't think so.
  21. If only it were that easy
  22. All bolds get a +1 IMO. So many good points in that post.
  23. If they even play the audio. When was the last time you remember hearing/seeing the marching band for long enough to draw an opinion other than, "yep, that's a marching band." They just show the marching band to add to the production value. To add affect (or effect? who knows). It doesn't matter what they play- it's not going to make the air anyways.
  24. <Opening the can of worms> For the record- schools like USC, LSU, and UT all have great schools of music. And secondly- the GB is going to get the same amount of air time regardless of what they play. Even the really big schools only get like three seconds of chopped up footage during pregame. And that usually serves as B roll stuff while random ESPN or school graphics are put over the B roll montage. The only time I've ever even seen/heard the marching band doing a show is during a bowl game in January. There no other games to cut to during half time, and they've already given the updates- so they just throw it to the band for a few minutes. I'll bet that the GB gets less than 15 seconds of pregame or half time love with both audio and visual.
