  1. Sad to say it but you are right. Our administration has never had the guts to hire people who can get the job done. They care more about their pensions than they do about good ole UNT.
  2. Why so? Why can do many schools like Houston who hired Kelvin Sampson after he had been clearly indicted or say High Freeze at Liberty. There are very few coaches who can win and move the pendulums where they need to.be. If we are not serious about winning then WTF are we paying someone 2.5 million a year?
  3. That may indeed be the case however would you like to explain this in more detail?
  4. We have great support we have great alumni and with the right leader we could go some very special places. Even with a very sub par product we still have tons of support at these games and on campus. It’s just a damn crying shame Seth has squandered this tremendous opportunity at UNT. 😪
  5. I mean I hear where you are coming from and all but damn man he has a very large like 3 million dollar or more buyout and our big money donors got stung badly when Coach McCarney refused to get another coaching job and we had to pay him every red cent. All I am saying is people here gotta understand that Wren added a lot to Seth’s contract when he extended it after the K-State offer. That said we obviously need to make a coaching change but it may need to be in a year or so once we have paid off most of what we owe Seth. I seriously doubt there are tons of donors in line to pay Seth off after what happened with paper bag Danny.
  6. I’m very torn. On the one hand I feel like we have sorta hit the point me and my first wife hit with the good ole “irreconcilable differences” or whatever but on the other hand my mean green heart is saying I gotta support the guy we hired. Anyone else feeling this way too?
  7. The Mean Green loss extends UAB’s all-time series advantage to 5-1, with the Mean Green’s lone win in the series coming at Apogee Stadium on Sept. 23, 2017. The teams’ game last season was canceled due to COVID-19 issues. The loss puts head coach Seth Littrell at 32-33 in his Mean Green tenure, and he is in sixth place on the program’s all-time wins list – behind fifth-place Hayden Fry (40). He falls to 1-3 in his career against UAB. The Mean Green loss puts the program record at 22-11 in Apogee Stadium under head coach Seth Littrell. The Mean Green are 1-1 at home this season. One of Littrell’s 22 wins at Apogee was technically a road game when UTEP traveled to Denton last season for a Miner home game due to COVID-19 restrictions in El Paso. The last time a North Texas team was shut out for a half was the first half of a game at Rice on Nov. 23, 2019 – a game UNT went on to lose 20-14. Sophomore QB Jace Ruder (Norton, Kansas), who transferred from North Carolina, made his third collegiate start and finished the day 6-for-13 for 34 yards and a touchdown. Sophomore QB Austin Aune (Argyle, Texas) entered the game on the Mean Green’s third drive of the game, which began with 7:35 to play in the first quarter. He played the remainder of the first half and finished 8-for-21 for 65 yards. Senior RB DeAndre Torrey (Gautier, Mississippi) had 82 rushing yards on 24 carries and a two catches for 4 yards along with 22 kickoff return yards to give him 108 all-purpose yards. Torrey’s 108 all-purpose yards on the day moved him past Johnny Quinn (2003-06) into fifth on the program’s all-time list for career all-purpose yards. Torrey now has 3,839 in his career. Torrey’s 82 rushing yards put him at 2,410, just seven yards shy of sixth all-time on the career rushing list (Kevin Galbreath, 2001-02, who had 2,417 yards). Freshman RB Ikaika Ragsdale (Las Vegas, Nevada) had six carries for 25 yards. Ragsdale had a 12-yard run to set a new career high for longest run. Freshman WR Detraveon Brown (Shreveport, Louisiana) finished the day with one catch for 3 yards and a touchdown. Brown’s 3-yard touchdown reception with 13:47 left to play got the Mean Green on the scoreboard and was the first reception and touchdown of Brown’s career. Sophomore WR Deonte Simpson (Beaumont, Texas) caught one ball for 18 yards. His 18-yard grab was his first of the season in his first game action of the season. He had his helmet knocked off and ran for what was seemingly a touchdown without it but the ball was blown dead after the 18-yard gain because his helmet was knocked off. Freshman WR Khatib Lyles (El Paso, Texas) caught one ball for 3 yards. Lyles’ 3-yard reception late in the game was the first of his collegiate career. Redshirt freshman WR Damon Ward (Beaumont, Texas) had two catches for 13 yards. Ward’s 8-yard reception late in the third quarter was the first of his collegiate career. Junior LB KD Davis (Ennis, Texas) finished the day with six tackles, including three solo stops. Sophomore DB DeShawn Gaddie (Arlington, Texas) finished the game with seven tackles, including five solo stops and a pass breakup. Senior defensive lineman Dion Novil (Abilene) finished the game with five tackles, including three solo stops, a tackle for-loss and a quarterback hurry. Novil’s blocked extra point late in the first half was the first blocked kick by the Mean Green since a blocked field goal attempt by Middle Tennessee on Oct. 17, 2020. Sophomore LB Kevin Wood (Converse, Texas) finished the day with five tackles, including two solo stops. Senior DL Kameron Hill (Fresno, Texas) finished the day with four tackles, including two solo stops, a tackle for-loss and a sack. He has 17.0 sacks in his career. Senior LB Tyreke Davis (Denton, Texas) finished the day with eight tackles, including five solo stops, two tackles for-loss and a sack. He has 6.5 sacks in his career. Senior safety Makyle Sanders (Tyler, Texas) finished the day with four tackles, including a solo stop. Two players made their first career starts on Saturday: freshman left guard Gabe Blair (Denton) and sophomore wide receiver Bryson Jackson (Houston).
  8. Yeah but wasn’t he the guy that stunk it up last week or something?
  9. Over the last 10 days, the rumor mill has heated up regarding the future of many Group of 5 conferences. National writers like Dennis Dodd from CBS Sports, Chris Vannini from The Athletic, and Yahoo's Pete Thamelhave all written about the subject. All of their stories have one common denominator: the UTEP Miners are not in the discussion at the moment. Nobody should be surprised that this is the case. The UTEP football team is currently 2-1 this season, but they are currently in a bye week after losing 54-13 to Boise State from the Mountain West. Head coach Dana Dimel needs a winning season and a trip to a bowl game in order to start resurrecting the football program. The last time the Miners went bowling was 2014 and nobody seems to remember or care about that game or team. A winning football program is also one of the biggest factors for schools looking to change conferences. Of all the sports in college athletics, nothing drives an athletic department's budget like a winning college football program. That is why schools like BYU, Houston, Cincinnati, Central Florida, and Boise State are all sought after by G5 conferences. All of these universities realize that a consistent winner in football is the major chip to ante up in any poker game that involves realignment. 10. I am confused on which one is better? I think AAC is what we have said we wanted for many months now but now it seems like the board is wanting Mountain West. Can someone help explain which one is best for us right now as things stand? If Houston is in Big 12 it makes the AAC less for me.
  11. Bob Bowlsby made something clear after the Big 12 welcomed BYU, Cincinnati, Houston and UCF to its ranks last week. The conference might not be done expanding. “We’re always going to be open to opportunities as they present themselves,” the Big 12 commissioner said. “We’re living in a fast-changing athletic environment ... and as targets of opportunity present themselves or as there are situations that dictate that we change composition, we’ll be prepared to do those things.” read more: https://news.google.com/articles/CAIiEEDUapbKnQjJBwhuZawZ71UqGQgEKhAIACoHCAow29iECzCJyoEDMNj3gwY?hl=en-US&gl=US&ceid=US%3Aen
  12. He did a completely separate tweet for the express purpose of naming UNT as an option. What is it with you guys and all the negativity? We are going to get into either the AAC or MWC or maybe both! And the reason why?
  13. Wren hasn’t fired one coach since he has been here and Inseriously doubt he has plans to fire one that has such a huge buyout as his first!
  14. Why would the author of this speak specifically about North Texas if they weren’t interested. I am not following your logic.
  15. I think we will look back 100 years from now and say that Littrell was the only missing piece. Really quite a shame as we have been hoping for this opportunity for many many years.
  16. Which conference do we want? If Houston and some of the other teams leave the AAC is it still as good as the Mountain West? Also will our fans be willing to travel out west?
  17. I feel like this is a unique moment in our history where we must have a proactive and inspired leader. We cannot wait for our future conference to call us. Act inspired North Texas!
  18. BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — The UAB Blazers are preparing to open Conference USA play on the road against North Texas this Saturday after a 56-7 loss to No. 2 Georgia in Athens. UAB coach Bill Clark and a couple of players spoke to the media Monday morning to discuss the upcoming game and the loss to the Bulldogs. Here's what they said: On what is different about UNT this year… “Offensively they are high tempo and they run a lot of tempo plays. Their biggest improvement already is their defense. They’ve had some times that they were good on defense and probably weren’t quite as good as maybe they wanted to be the last few years. I see them coming back. You know they made a change at their defensive coordinator spot, I know him. They’re going to be better there and they’re always tough.” read more: https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.wvtm13.com/amp/article/uab-looking-to-rebound-from-georgia-loss-in-cusa-opener-against-north-texas/37579579
