  1. Excellent show guys.
  2. Has there ever been any explanation for this? Did the state decide to stop supporting us and lowered the budget or was this a decision Hurley made on his own. Hurley seems to have a real mixed bag of review. On the one hand many give him a lot of due credit for maneuvering UNT into a very large enrollment growth phase but he also seemed very short sided in terms of reinvesting back into the university through things like athletics and facilities. He seemed like a guy that always wanted to do things on the cheap. Again, that may not be his fault but the fact we had little political support in Austin and a budget to match.
  3. This is awesome. Great info @NT80. Thanks for sharing it. This could be a huge deal for UNT and I love that they accepted our logo's etc unlike the south Dallas facility who basically shunned us.
  4. Good question but won't really likely know until we have a couple of games to evaluate would be my guess. I sure hope they can at least coach as good as Seth's staff.
  5. Do we have any late additions that are not showing up on the roster right now who might be able to make an impact?
  6. Have you read the letter? This is not some bullshit accusation, this law firm is very well respected and isn’t jumping in this if there is not a very good chance they will win. Not a good situation for Wren nonetheless.
  7. How many times has UNT taken advantage of these huge opportunity games? I would hazard a guess we have one the worst closing percentages in the history of ncaa
  8. The FCS does not help the power rankings which become more important with a 12 game playoff. How sad would it be to miss the 12th spot because you bought a win against Texas Southern?
  9. DATCU Stadium sounds fine.
  10. Man you may well be right. The PAC10 will be a shadow of its former self. I like where the AAC is positioned for the future.
  11. John O'Quinn Field at TDECU Stadium
  12. We have some of the lowest percentages of student fees in the country. Giving has always been an issue at UNT but it seems to be getting better.
  13. Joe Bessner ('15) has a blast at work every day, literally. The UNT alum works as a pyrotechnician for the company Pyrotecnico, handling firework shows for music festivals, concerts and has even come back to UNT for the Homecoming bonfire. Pyrotecnico's latest contract is with Beyoncé for her Renaissance tour, and Bessner will be working at SeaWorld's nightly show HydroPower: Xtreme FX this summer in San Antonio. He first came to UNT because of the radio, television and film program, that exposed him to theatre. He decided to switch paths and ended up graduating with a theatre degree. On campus, he was heavily involved with the UNT Talons, a student organization that upholds many UNT traditions such as the Homecoming bonfire, the cannon, spirit flags and more. "I was always the kid who spent hundreds of dollars on fireworks growing up. And then at UNT, when I saw that I could shoot a cannon off and build fire legally, that swayed me into it." When one of his classmates asked him if he'd be interested in helping the lighting company she worked for with a fireworks show, Bessner jumped at the chance and never looked back. read more: https://northtexan.unt.edu/issues/2023-spring/lighting-lives
  14. But if the coaches can make millions and the ADs get rich why can’t the players expect a little extra? Also if NIL is based on name image and likeness, why do some teams like SMU pay 30k salaries to every scholarship player? Are all of those players truly earning that NIL?
  15. If a player transfers to UNT do they have tp stay for a period of time or can they immediately leave? I am not clear on the latest for this.
  16. Mine is Daizon Carroll. He has played a lot of football for us and I think he could be a big piece to the running game this season in the AAC.
  17. They are doing that solely due to Frank Harris returning at QB period!
