BLACKSBURG – Virginia Tech head coach Justin Fuenteannounced several additions to Tech's football player personnel and recruiting staffs on Thursday. Beau Davidson has been promoted to director of recruiting, Leah Joseph joins the staff as director of on-campus recruiting and Lino Lupinetti will serve as assistant director of personnel and recruiting. Davidson originally joined Tech as an offensive quality control coach in 2018 and spent the 2020 campaign as assistant director of player personnel. The Katy, Texas native has been instrumental in helping the Hokies land numerous talented players from across the country. During his stint as a quality control coach for the Hokies, he worked closely with Vance Vice and Tech's offensive line unit. He joined Tech after spending the 2017 season as defensive coordinator at Howard Payne University in Brownwood, Texas. He spent the 2010-16 campaigns in the Texas high school coaching ranks, working in a variety of coaching roles across the state, in addition to teaching chemistry and special education classes. In 2009, he served as defensive line coach at Northeastern State University where current Tech offensive coordinator Brad Cornelsenwas the offensive coordinator at the time. Davidson's resume also includes a stint at Trinity Valley Community College in 2008 after serving as a graduate assistant at his alma mater of North Texas in 2007. A three-year letterman at North Texas, Davidson played tight end and served as a long snapper for the Mean Green. Seems like a more proactive approach to this year’s event. Having PB available certainly doesn’t hurt.

Is it time to start lobbying for the AAC?

I like your spirit -
There’s depth but no clue if it’s proven depth unless you’re taking about the Murphy twins or Novil. Not trying to rain on the parade here. I’m encouraged that Brenner understands how damn important this positional are is and the need for rotations.

Good post. I would also add that Coronavirus will likely delay any expansion talk for awhile as programs are going to be focused on getting butts in the seats again. That said, I imagine donations are way down and therefore discussions on economics will return rather quickly. For my 2 cents, I think the realignment will return once the Texas decides to bail on the Big 12 and/or the Longhorn network contract is back up for negotiation. -
The prototypical slot receiver is a piece of the puzzle that the Buccaneers' offense has lacked thus far under head coach Bruce Arians, but has now acquired in Darden. Arians instead opts to put bigger, more physical receivers in the slot such as Chris Godwin or even Mike Evans on occasion. In 2020, the 6-foot-1, 209 pound Chris Godwin played 55% of his reps from the slot, where he is dangerous thanks to his glue-like hands and crispy route running. Although Darden specializes in the slot, his speed allows him to create separation when lined up outside, especially when running 9 (go) routes. With his 4.46 40 yard time and unbelievable 6.67 three-cone result (ranked in the 91st percentile), Darden is a speed demon with cutting agility that unlocks another dimension of Tampa Bay's offense. read more: https://www.si.com/nfl/buccaneers/front-office/tampa-bay-buccaneers-jaelon-darden-scouting-report-nfl-draft

Arizona’s decision allowing community colleges to offer bachelor’s degrees followed a debate similar to that heard in other states. Here, according to a 2020 brief from the Education Commission of the States, are the main arguments - pro and con - for the policy. Advocates typically point to three factors favoring such expansion: Community colleges are usually more nimble than four-year institutions and therefore can better develop degree programs that address changing workforce needs, particularly in high-demand fields. Community colleges can offer bachelor’s degrees to more diverse student populations, especially in areas without a nearby four-year institution. They’re often designed to serve nontraditional groups such as low-income, first-generation and older students, as well as students of color. A bachelor’s degree from a community college is usually much less costly than the tuition and fees charged by four-year institutions. Therefore, the policy helps reduce perennial concerns about affordability and student loan debt read more: https://www.forbes.com/sites/michaeltnietzel/2021/05/09/the-community-college-bachelors-degree-continues-to-grow/?sh=2c73de4d3dbb

From the sound of things, this year's Kansas quarterback battle will be like that of past years, meaning it will extend into the fall. That's likely especially true given Jason Bean, a transfer from North Texas, is not yet on campus. He's expected to have a chance to compete for the starting role when he arrives this summer. Here are their stats from the last year: Jalon Daniels (Fr.): 76-for-152 passing (50.0%), 718 yards, 4 TD (1 passing), 4 INT Miles Kendrick (Jr.): 73-for-120 passing (60.8%), 647 yards, 6 TD (all passing), 5 INT Jason Bean (So.): 79-for-145 passing (54.5%), 1,131 yards, 19 TD (14 passing), 5 INT Bean's statistics, of course, came at North Texas, while the other two passers were at Kansas. While his statistics were mostly better than the aforementioned two across the board, Bean will have to deal with the challenge of getting on campus in June, as compared to the others, who have been around the program for some time. read more: https://247sports.com/college/kansas/Article/Where-Kansas-football-quarterback-competition-sits-heading-into-summer-165187441/

Why can't he sign the good players right out of high school? Seems like he could beef up the first line of recruiting and evaluation process.
