  1. DT: Brandon Kennedy, North Texas At tackle, Brandon Kennedy was named Sun Belt Player of the Year in both 2002 and 2003. While sacks weren't officially recorded then, North Texas credits Kennedy with 44 tackles for loss over his final two seasons, including 10 sacks in 2002. Those would be impressive numbers for an edge-rusher, but they are ridiculous numbers for a nose tackle. Even Ndamukong Suh had only 36.5 tackles for loss in his final two seasons at Nebraska. 2. Not a bad idea at all. They sort of do that on the Wing side but it would be less dangerous if it was padded.
  3. @MEEN2018 your updates are the best out there. Thanks for all you do. I am so excited about this NFL season and JD.
  4. Thank you and appreciate all you do for UNT athletics.
  5. The Ticket just said Bills to Austin has wheels.
  6. I am hearing Aug 6th

Does McCrae evolve into the DE we thought he would be - No 5. Can Shorter become WR1 after last year - Yes 6. Who has the best chance to break out - WR from Greenville 7. 8. Don't have that but do have this:
  9. I agree that this is what should happen but the Baylors Techs and TCU's all look at us like we are lepers or homeless and whatnot.
  10. That school that is not allowed to be named on here has the grass end zone and it has become a great place for families with young children to roll down the hill and not worry about spilling drinks and whatnot.
  11. I was skeptical but after watching the attached video I am a believer. He is a GREAT shooter. I just don't get how he flew so low under the radar at 6-4 with that stroke. There is clearly more to the story here.
  12. This stuff is crazy but he’s a damn good player.
  13. Remember we still have an outstanding issue with where the main diamond vision scoreboard is currently placed. It covers up the patio backside of the athletic center (bad architecture and planning) and the rumor is they are looking to dump the screen and place smaller screens in each corner of the stadium (bad idear).
  14. I think Brint Ryan has that possibility. His tax and accounting company is worldwide and worth billions although not yet close to Fertitta but still quite a lot. Notice that the CUSA media days were called “Ryan”? He is a very impressive alumnus and loves UNT very much. Fertitta is a Born on the Island (BOI) and has been a major investor in Galveston which is exploding right now in terms of tourism And real estate etc. he just started up a new IPO tied to Vegas and gambling etc. I believe he has ties to the Maceo family which owned the gambling business in Galveston and now owns Landtry’s and many other successful businesses. You are absolutely correct in saying a person like Fertitta makes a huge impact if a conference like the Big 12 is looking for the right expansion candidate and trying to see if they have the support required to help build your conference and gain payoff spots in the future.
  15. In his defense it seems like he doesn't get very good seedings. Also, a lot of times they have to play on the opponent home turf with their refs. Soccer refs can really impact the winners and losers especially when you are on the road.
  16. Yes but we are also trending upward. Just had the 10 year anniversary of Apogee's construction. The indoor facility for basketball and now football were just in the past 3-4 years. We moved up conferences several times. Our coaching salaries and AD budget is solid for a G5. The basketball team won their first NCAA tourney match. We have good academics and a good location (DFW). So if you are being fair, you look at not just the entire history but how things are trending and you see very good things have been happening here recently. Our only downside is we have had issues with hiring good football coaches.
  17. If that is true and we really have no lobbyists in Austin supporting the cause we are S-C-R-E-W-E-D! How could a university of our size not have this in place?
  18. Maybe instead of trying to emulate what SMU does with all the transfers, let's go to the high school coaches and say we believe in the high school players and coaches and will focus much of our resources and scholarships in that direction. Do the opposite of what SMU is doing right now and maybe we could land some more high school stars that get overlooked, especially with what covid did to the scholarships. There are so many great high school players in our backyard that we could have a better chance of landing.
  19. Stoops was hired by OU in 1996. In his 1st 5 seasons: 1999: 7-5 - Tied for 2nd - Independence Bowl L 2000: 13-0 - 1st place - Orange Bowl W 2001: 11-2 - 2nd place - Cotton Bowl W 2002: 12-2 - Tied for 1st - Rose Bowl W 2003: 12-1 - 1st Place - Orange Bowl L Stoop's worst record in a almost 20 year span as HC was an 8-5 in 2009 and 2014. Seth Littrell was hired by UNT in 2015. In his 1st 5 seasons: 2016: 5-8 - 4th place - Heart of Dallas L 2017: 9-5 - 1st place - New Orleans L 2018 9-4 - Tied for 2nd - New Mexico L 2019 4-8 - Tied for 4th - No Bowl 2020 4-6 - 4th Place - Myrtle Beach L You could argue - albeit at a much lower level - Seth was on a Stoops type trajectory in years 2-3. So WTF happened in 2019? The only thing I can point to is he no longer could live off of McCarney's players and the K-State job opportunity came and went. You could also say there was a huge amount of assistant turnover he had to deal with but welcome to the G5. Does he get a Covid pass for 2020? These are all questions that will have to be analyzed by Wren (or Jared) during and after this season. But it is interesting to see how boldly Littrell began his career at UNT and how quickly it came apart.
  20. We agree on most of your points but I disagree that they are just sitting on their hands. I think they are probably concerned but with the buyout over 2 million dollars there isn't a line of donors stepping up with their checkbooks. Keep in mind, we got stuck with the entire McCarney buyout because he retired and never got another job after UNT. Donors that funded his buyout were told that some of that would not have to be paid because we expected him to at least land an assistant gig. Most of the time when coaches get canned they take other gigs and that offsets your buyout. Simply put I don't know that we can afford to buy Littrell out now. When K-State came calling, we really upped his guaranteed compensation to keep him here for a long time.
