  1. Over the last 10 days, the rumor mill has heated up regarding the future of many Group of 5 conferences. National writers like Dennis Dodd from CBS Sports, Chris Vannini from The Athletic, and Yahoo's Pete Thamelhave all written about the subject. All of their stories have one common denominator: the UTEP Miners are not in the discussion at the moment. Nobody should be surprised that this is the case. The UTEP football team is currently 2-1 this season, but they are currently in a bye week after losing 54-13 to Boise State from the Mountain West. Head coach Dana Dimel needs a winning season and a trip to a bowl game in order to start resurrecting the football program. The last time the Miners went bowling was 2014 and nobody seems to remember or care about that game or team. A winning football program is also one of the biggest factors for schools looking to change conferences. Of all the sports in college athletics, nothing drives an athletic department's budget like a winning college football program. That is why schools like BYU, Houston, Cincinnati, Central Florida, and Boise State are all sought after by G5 conferences. All of these universities realize that a consistent winner in football is the major chip to ante up in any poker game that involves realignment. 2. I am confused on which one is better? I think AAC is what we have said we wanted for many months now but now it seems like the board is wanting Mountain West. Can someone help explain which one is best for us right now as things stand? If Houston is in Big 12 it makes the AAC less for me.
  3. these guys are already here!
  4. Bob Bowlsby made something clear after the Big 12 welcomed BYU, Cincinnati, Houston and UCF to its ranks last week. The conference might not be done expanding. “We’re always going to be open to opportunities as they present themselves,” the Big 12 commissioner said. “We’re living in a fast-changing athletic environment ... and as targets of opportunity present themselves or as there are situations that dictate that we change composition, we’ll be prepared to do those things.” read more: https://news.google.com/articles/CAIiEEDUapbKnQjJBwhuZawZ71UqGQgEKhAIACoHCAow29iECzCJyoEDMNj3gwY?hl=en-US&gl=US&ceid=US%3Aen
  5. He did a completely separate tweet for the express purpose of naming UNT as an option. What is it with you guys and all the negativity? We are going to get into either the AAC or MWC or maybe both! And the reason why?
  6. Wren hasn’t fired one coach since he has been here and Inseriously doubt he has plans to fire one that has such a huge buyout as his first!
  7. Why would the author of this speak specifically about North Texas if they weren’t interested. I am not following your logic.
  8. I think we will look back 100 years from now and say that Littrell was the only missing piece. Really quite a shame as we have been hoping for this opportunity for many many years.
  9. Which conference do we want? If Houston and some of the other teams leave the AAC is it still as good as the Mountain West? Also will our fans be willing to travel out west?
  10. I feel like this is a unique moment in our history where we must have a proactive and inspired leader. We cannot wait for our future conference to call us. Act inspired North Texas!

  11. BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — The UAB Blazers are preparing to open Conference USA play on the road against North Texas this Saturday after a 56-7 loss to No. 2 Georgia in Athens. UAB coach Bill Clark and a couple of players spoke to the media Monday morning to discuss the upcoming game and the loss to the Bulldogs. Here's what they said: On what is different about UNT this year… “Offensively they are high tempo and they run a lot of tempo plays. Their biggest improvement already is their defense. They’ve had some times that they were good on defense and probably weren’t quite as good as maybe they wanted to be the last few years. I see them coming back. You know they made a change at their defensive coordinator spot, I know him. They’re going to be better there and they’re always tough.” read more: https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.wvtm13.com/amp/article/uab-looking-to-rebound-from-georgia-loss-in-cusa-opener-against-north-texas/37579579
  12. Was sorry to hear about Bush being injured. He looked so promising. Hope he gets well soon.
  13. Isiah will have to step up. And I think he will.
  14. Yes I agree. Clark has been so successful that they haven’t had to be down that often. With Seth we’ve had lots of issues with being down over the past 6 years.
  15. Wow that’s a surprise. I’m betting Graham Harrell is the interim HC.
  16. The twins are indeed a bright spot and I thought Novil player better. The defensive line is not the problem here.
  17. I was very unhappy with this decision. The team could have used their support.
  18. Don’t agree with your number 1 but you’re number 2 is spot on.
  19. Yes I agree but I just wish we had gone to the portal ourselves more often over the past 3-4 years.
  20. Yeah well I feel like owed us that after last week when he looked like he had iron hands.
  21. Seth is nowhere near the hot seat just like Sark is not after UTs embarrassing loss. He will be given an entire season to be evaluated as he should be. If we start blowing up at the end of the season, Hope will come back to many of the UNT fans who feel disappointed this morning. There were good signs yesterday no matter what some may say.
  22. This is difficult to accept as a fan but I think you speak the truth.
