  1. no joke! i kept waiting for him to mike off, clear his throat, and return sounding like a human but it didn't happen. "oh too bad"
  2. if this hire happens, this will be huge for the program. i'm a big beleiver that true change happens in the spring when weight and speed are improved. that, to me, is the difference in our program and the big boys. they have strength and conditioning coaches making big $, we don't even have one.
  3. exciting pick up. i don't think a team can have too many quality QBs.
  4. is there history behind it being shot off at the end of every quarter? it makes sense to fire it off when we score but it seems like the only reason to shoot it between quarters is either history or a bored crew wanting to scare everyone so they can get their laughs in. it's not even one of those things where you jump and then laugh about it, instead you jump and think, "well, we're down by 20...that was ridiculous"
  5. after a saturday without a football loss and a sunday with a cowboy win, my sports week will be off to a great start if coach jones and co. can pull this one off. either way, i'm anxious to see the team since i had to miss friday for HS football.
  6. i'd like a shot at daddy d as well. eppy, count on me to come in late wielding a chair if things look grim.
  7. i don't think there's one in the golden triangle mall, but i did see some reversible hoodies at the champs at vista ridge about a month ago. here too, there were a bunch of UT, notre dame, ohio state and such hoodies and then in the same display there was also the matching NT hoodie. it was a good looking shirt but i so rarely need to wear a hoodie that i didn't make the purchase. it seemed like they were the "champ sports" brand.
  8. if we can't win our homecoming, at least we can win other schools'
  9. thanks for the video. it was as beautiful as i imagined it!
  10. much thanks for the convoy picture. it's now the wallpaper on my computer.
  11. last night i was listening to jub jub on the call of the game as nwigwe picked off the past sealing the game for our mean green. i completely lost it with excitement and couldn't wait to watch the game and witness what georgio called "the convoy" of players escorting nwigwe into the endzone. well, somehow my DVR decided to cut off after 3 and a half hours of the game leaving me bitter this morning when i found that i didn't have the footage i'd been waiting for. if anyone has it and can post just that final play on youtube or something, i would be forever grateful.
  12. i can't speak for eppy, but i do side with him on the arguement that's spawned from this thread. i think i know a thing or two about football, but i would never say i'm qualified to coach a division one football team. i doubt i'm qualified to coach a pee wee team to be honest. there's more to coaching than installing a playbook, and it's those things that i wouldn't begin to understand. what drills to put in place to produce improvement. where to focus. how to motivate. these are things that coach dodge has the experience that i will never have. for that, i HAVE to trust that he has a better handle on it than i would. with that said, there's nothing anyone here can do about the coaching position, so what's the benefit of calling for his head on gmg?
  13. i will never understand the benefit of calling for dodge's head on a public forum like this board. i understand impatience and i understand venting about frustration with your buddies who share the passion for the program, but i don't understand doing so through a public, anonymous medium. i think everyone on here will do anything they can to help improve the program. when will that include restricting oneself from blasting the program on gmg?
  14. WE ARE... NORTH TEXAS!
  15. yes, i've reached the point where basketball is the contingency plan.
  16. the video was more than halfway over by the time the drumline got in front of the student section. they should not have been playing at all. why do they play in front of the visiting team's fans anyway? when i get to rice the last thing i care about is a performance by their drumline. i'm not trying to be negative because i'm very grateful for the green brigade, i'm just confused.
  17. the more i think about it, the more inexcusable that nickname is. i will no longer be visiting that site. i get my information from gmg.com and gmg.com ONLY from here on out.
  18. even with the slow start, i trust coach dodge. he NEVER said riley would redshirt. in fact, he's ALWAYS said that when he meets with freshmen he tells the to expect to play because he just wants to get the best players on the field. that includes riley. riley knows the offense better than anyone and can probably play any position. if you don't agree with him getting the best athletes on the field, then that's what you're upset about. riley is one of our best athletes so under t.dodge's philosophy, he should play.
  19. as frustrated as i was by the drumline situation, i can't be upset looking back at it because their decision to play their songs 1000 times faster than normal during the fourth quarter was pretty funny. also, the situation on the field created a less than ideal scenario for debuting that video anyway.
  20. this may be the funniest thread to date. either that or i can't be sane about anything right now with the game on the horizon
  21. i just finished the 2010 season with NT and as i was going through the preseason stuff for 2011 i found that tre newton had transfered in from UT with two more years of eligibility. do with that what you will
  22. it's not a big deal. i've seen much worse from this board. the "look-a-like" threads are all in good fun. i'm sure that post was as well.
  23. everything i hear suggests the student support is growing so i'm going to say 27,320
  24. i guess we're supposed to bag on SMU at any opportunity but i think we can all gagree that jones will greatly improve that program in the same way dodge will fix things here. what i saw last night was a team full of youth learning a new system against another team with experience at critical positions running a more familiar system.
