  1. Rather than thinking how we can punish or turn our back on players for finding opportunities elsewhere, I think we should look for ways to celebrate with greater enthusiasm those who demonstrate an enduring commitment to UNT and spend all 4 years here. On senior day, all seniors should be honored but particular recognition given to those who signed here out of high school. Build that into a goal worth achieving and add positive incentive for players to hang around.
  2. Really enjoyed this. Another quality addition to the squad. If they weren't already, these guys are surely going to be checking out the board. Hope they find the community of fans here to be supportive and understand any critic on here to be born of a shared passion for North Texas.
  3. Another home run JD. Always impressed by your prep work for the interview and your ability to draw out authentic, thoughtful answers to your questions. Even more excited to have Buggs III in Denton
  4. Well spoken and clearly eager to make Denton home. Love to see that.
  5. Don't forget, earlier this month it was announced that we'd reached a new 3 year extension with Nike. Certainly if the future jersey provider was up in the air it wouldn't make sense to buy a new set of Nike whites.
  6. Incredible stuff. Gotta think the history and connection these guys have with each other and with Mosely will make for an incredibly supportive work environment.
  7. Thanks, as always, for all the incredible information and insight, @TheReal_jayD
  8. No way G5 AD's go for an arrangement of playing "money" spring games. If nothing else, the spring game is prime opportunity to get fans/boosters on campus so necessary hands can be shaken and greetings made, etc. Of course, in Freeze's world, Auburn and Alabama benefit and Troy and UAB lose out.
  9. I like where your head's at but, i mean, but if Justin Howerton can't get a look...

  11. Checking in on things overseas for our guys and looks like Javion is having an especially good season for the Bristol Flyers of the British Basketball League As of 2/25/23, he leads the league in Points/game Free Throws Made Free Throw % Also, Mike Miller sits at #4 in the league in assists/game Link: https://www.bbl.org.uk/competitions/?WHurl=%2Fcompetition%2F34065%2Fleaders

  13. I made impulse decisions I regret while in college. Shoot...I made plenty of mistakes this past week. I'm a bit confused where the value is in holding on to anger associated with the end of his NT career. Wishing him the best.
  14. Bill Connelly's put out his current SP+ Rankings for 2023 https://www.espn.com/college-football/insider/story/_/id/35651872/2023-college-football-rankings-every-team Way too early and absolutely meaningless, but fun to look at nonetheless. NT comes in at #84. 6 schools on the schedule ranked below us with ACU not ranked
  15. Had the same thought last night. His reads in the open court are exciting but open court play is more rare than an albino squirrel sighting
  16. For a game with zero points in the box score, Rubin sure made an impact on how things played out last night. His defensive activity clearly showed up with his 5 steals and his offensive contribution probably could've been more notable if not for some really great passes that weren't converted into buckets.
  17. Half the 2023 American had a coaching change this offseason. We're seeing first hand how they delayed opportunity to recruit HS and transfer players. Clearly the programs who were already at work in this area would have an advantage this cycle.
  18. I first noticed that talon image in recruit pics recently Apparently Root Sportswear is a fairly new company (founded 2016) and describes themself as, "Root Sportswear is all about the hand sign. We know your team’s hand sign represents your school just as much as it’s logo. That’s why we created a unique line of college game day merchandise focused exclusively around it. Now you can flash your hand sign in style."
  19. Always thought "A Certain Shade of Green" was an obvious choice The title has a clear connection to our nickname The song overall has a good energy The Intro has a clear impact moment for the team to take the field The crowd joining to yell "a certain shade of green" together would be cool
  20. I think this is your answer. Seems the prudent approach for the student not pushing to play spring ball at the new school... Link: https://www.ncsasports.org/recruiting/ncaa-transfer-rules
  21. Going to be played at a very deliberate pace. Both squads are among the slowest in the nation. I see Draftkings has the over/under at 114, right now. and without some lights out shooting for both squads, the under may still hit here.
  22. 1. Leads with personal integrity and demands the same from those underneath him/her 2. Dedicating to supporting the experience of the student athletes 3. Has from Day 1 and will maintain a close, synchronized relationship with the University president and other VPs 4. Well connected and well thought of by peers in the industry 5. Can articulate a vision for building alumni, fan, donor, and community support that rivals the top of the G5

  24. I understand coaches who are conditioned to provide as little information as possible when interviewed or in a press conference but it's certainly refreshing when a coach like GM comes across as candid and honest when discussing the team and program. Exciting to hear him speak of expanding the offense and explaining that the glacial pace and approach in recent years was intentional and strategic to match the strength of the roster/rotation. Sounds like his focus is tailoring the style of play to players rather than being rigid to a specific system.
  25. Who or what are we not talking nearly enough about across the mid-majors? Jeff Borzello: Conference USA being a potential multibid league should be a storyline all season. UAB might be the best team from a true mid-major league...Western Kentucky is absolutely loaded with talent.... Oh, and there's also North Texas, which has two regular-season titles and an NCAA tournament appearance over the last three seasons. We're going to hear an awful lot about all three of these teams.
