  1. @BeyondTheGreen , Please focus much attention on the DBs this season. Thanks in advance
  2. Very impressed by the production quality and the cooperation of Wilson's family and Elkhart community.
  3. This. He's been extremely vocal and enthusiastic on Twitter about the changing culture in Denton despite having to wait his turn to help provide on-field evidence. Hurts that his wait just got extended.
  4. They open against Houston and Baylor. Hopefully they find a replacement in camp and can bring CUSA some national attention by landing an upset or two.
  5. Curious how much credit is due Tommy Perry on this front. Ultimately, let's hope our 3rd down conversion rate improves significantly enough to make the drop off here less impactful
  6. Good move...A test of variable pricing could impact future home schedule if it's determined that the market will bear higher costs for a more premium product.
  7. The program needs to really promote our seniors with NFL draft potential this year because the drought HAS to end. While I assume it's a genuine and honest assessment, but still glad to see Littrell make specific mention of McClain and Wilson
  8. Death, Taxes, and Josh White free throws... Excited for his induction (and the others' as well)
  9. So much to love about this. Definitely a window into both his energy/enthusiasm for coaching and his dedication to building the players and staff into a close-knit group.
  10. Wonder if the plan is to make Choice the 10th on field assistant down the road since we're currently without a dedicated running backs coach. Of course, glad to have Buyers back around the program
  11. Interesting look at some commonalities among the last 5 champs... In short, 3 components were found in each of the 5: Create big plays on offense Get off the field on 3rd down defensively Have an experienced signal caller under center Read more: http://coachingsearch.com/article?a=Study-Common-factors-in-the-last-5-Conference-USA-champions-2017
  12. I still miss the old "Kickoff Cookout" and the Under Armour uniform unveiling at the 2007 event was perfect
  13. The only thing more exciting than the news of this recruiting battle victory is seeing an overwhelmingly supportive thread surrounding a recruit's announcement Welcome aboard, Jason!
  14. I think it's reasonable to expect at least 1 CUSA championship across FB, MBB, or WBB during this time frame...and I think we've got the leadership in place to see that through.
  15. As a Mean Green fan who enjoys following the recruiting battles without following each recruit on Twitter, I actually appreciate Vito getting this information out to his followers. In my opinion, it's much more valuable than the 5 point lists DMN requires him to produce
  16. Hadn't seen this data presented before but can't say it surprises me... https://www.footballstudyhall.com/2017/6/21/15845208/college-football-three-and-out-rates-clemson-north-texas Noted in the article... As was noted by the guys at TexasFootball.com when they assessed the Three Things on the NT To Do List , I think improvement up front on both sides of the ball will go a long way to making the proposition of success on 3rd down much more likely. Whatever the cause, definitely an area that needs focus as we head into 2017.
  17. Really enjoyed and agree with this assessment of some of the key areas of focus for the upcoming season...
  18. He may look elsewhere but in doing so I hope he'll come to be only more convinced that Denton is the perfect place for him to become another Carlos Henderson, Zay Jones, or Corey Davis - skill position players who found the right fit and made NFL draft waves by doing so. As a general opinion regarding the tone taken in some of the posts in this thread - I think it serves the program better to avoid commenting negatively about elements of the recruiting process in a public forum.
  19. Count me among those choosing to trust Wren when he seems to clearly indicate that both Liberty and Army are the initial steps in a process he's taking to reshape the schedule I don't understand the need to evaluate these moves as if they're in a vacuum - part of the draw is that Liberty would seem to have greater date flexibility than would Army. I'm expecting these moves were made based on a greater need to accommodate a to be announced series. I can also appreciate the consideration given to our coaches/players needs regarding the schedule. We lucked out in 2016 to have off dates immediately before each Army game.
  20. Opportunity for Baker & Co to hear and address thoughts and concerns over this and steps being taken to prevent similar issues going forward..
  21. Well done as always, Ashton! Managed to touch all the key elements of the off season to date in a way that both provided a general summary while also allowing us unique access to the process (ex: in the segment covering National Signing Day we get a picture of the commitment board allowing viewers to become familiar with most of the names but the narrative focused on the coaches/coordinators themselves as *they congratulated those commits) *interesting call to leave in a shot of Ek congratulating a recruit Was it just me or did B. Garner look noticeably leaner? Wonder if they're asking him to be lighter/faster this year (or maybe it was just camera angles
  22. I have zero artistic ability and therefore my opinion really means nothing but the branding looks pretty good to me. The new look seems to come across well on the football uni displayed. The basketball uni though...
  23. The Mic'd Up videos have all been incredible this week - especially in that they have allowed us to become somewhat acquainted with the new faces on the staff.
  24. Haven't seen a thread on this yet... https://www.amazon.com/Mean-Joe-Greene-Built-Football/dp/0998627305/ref=tmm_pap_swatch_0?_encoding=UTF8&qid=1489159106&sr=8-3 http://footballmatters.org/mean-joe-greene-built-by-football/ "Better known by his nickname “Mean Joe” Greene, Charles Edward Joseph Greene acquired his moniker as a reference to his school’s nickname, the University of North Texas Mean Green (then known as North Texas State). During his three seasons in Denton, the 6-4, 270-pound defensive tackle led the Mean Green to a 23-5-1 record. In his 29 games, the team held the opposition to 2,507 yards gained on 1,276 rushes. A per carry average of less than two yards per attempt. His collegiate coach, Rod Rust, said of the 1968 consensus All-America, “There are two factors behind Joe’s success. First, he has the ability to make the big defensive play and turn the tempo of a game around. Second, he has the speed to be an excellent pursuit player.” Waiting for my copy to arrive but thought it worth its own thread here.
