  1. Appreciate his time here. Can't take away his well-deserved 2016-2017 CUSA All-Freshman Team honor. I'll be rooting for him wherever he lands.
  2. I made this comp in the fall based on size and running style and while Jeff's added some weight, I think the measurables still largely support the comparison... Jeff Wilson: Measurable Measurement Height 5' 11" Weight 210 lbs 40 Yard Dash 4.56s Vertical Jump 35" Broad Jump 113" Ahmad Bradshaw: Measurable Measurement Height 5' 10" Weight 198 lbs 40 Yard Dash 4.55s Vertical Jump 34" Broad Jump 112"
  3. https://www.sports-reference.com/cbb/about/ws.html Bill James developed his system such that one win is equivalent to three Win Shares. My system deviates from James's system in three key ways: In James's system, one win is equivalent to three Win Shares. In my system, one win is equivalent to one Win Share. James made team Win Shares directly proportional to team wins. In his system, a baseball team that wins 80 games will have exactly 240 Win Shares, a baseball team that wins 90 games will have exactly 270 Win Shares, etc. In my system, a basketball team that wins 25 games will have about 25 Win Shares, give or take. James did not allow for the possibility of negative Win Shares. In his system, the fewest number of Win Shares a player can have is zero. In my system, a player can have negative Win Shares. I justify this by thinking about it in the following way: a player with negative Win Shares was so poor that he essentially took away wins that his teammates had generated.

  5. With a win, our Mean Green should lock up their highest end of season kenpom ranking since 2008. A look at our finishes since the 2007 NCAA tourney squad https://kenpom.com/ 2007 - 162 *NCAA 15 see lost to Memphis 2008 - 133 2009 - 152 2010 - 175 *NCAA 15 seed lost to KState 2011 - 174 2012 - 167 2013 - 259 2014 - 232 2015 - 245 2016 - 289 2017 - 320 2018 (current) - 149
  6. Impossible not to root for Jeff. He'll be in someone's minicamp - whether as a draft pick or UDFA. His decision to have an incredibly connected and experienced Leigh Steinberg represent him should be hugely helpful - either as a tool to sell him as a draft pick on him or to provide guidance as he selects where to sign in the post-draft UDFA chaos.
  7. Nothing to see here. In no way does this indicate Littrell is unhappy in Denton. This is likely just his agent working as he should for his client. It would've been noteworthy if he had submitted a resume for a G5 program...an SEC program, not so much. The only issue I have is with the fact that this information is now public - forcing him to address it with the locker room and his staff to make sure no one feels a disloyalty on his part. I trust he's already done this by now.
  8. This is an incredibly unique opportunity for our men and coaching staff to make and immediately implement and apply opponent-specific changes in response to a loss. Whatever the outcome tomorrow, I look forward to seeing a high level of intensity and a new wrinkle or two from McCasland.
  9. Good luck to him. With no information myself and zero interactions with the man, I'd rather not speak on his performance as recruiting efforts involve so many parties. In the end, it seems clear that the fit wasn't ideal and I'm glad to see him have an opportunity to try elsewhere. One thing I do kow...We all would've signed up in December for an off-season where Stenklyft would be the only staff member exiting the program.
  10. Not certain... Here's my source: http://barttorvik.com/teampbp.php?sort=6&year=2018&conlimit=
  11. Looking at Mercer's offensive profile, I think we're looking at a similar philosophy to Marshall - Moreyball. They rate #23 nationally in lowest % of their shots coming from two point FG attempts not at the rim... Marshall FG Attempts At the Rim - 37.7% Threes - 45.6% Non-rim Twos - 16.7% Mercer FG Attempts At the Rim - 40.8% Threes - 40.6% Non-rim Twos - 18.6% Compared to Marshall, they actually shoot better from three Marshall 3pt % - 35.2% Mercer 3pt % - 38 Perimeter defense will be a key to victory
  12. Thought I'd bring this over from the BBall recruiting page... Found this from 14 months ago. 13. Great pickup! Gotta hold on to him. Found this from 14 months ago. Could be a very valuable relationship for the program... https://www.burntorangenation.com/recruiting/2017/1/13/11998504/san-antonio-wagner-tristan-clark-jalen-jackson-kevin-mccullar-jelen-hanspard-braelon-seals
  14. https://www.minerrush.com/2018/3/12/17111212/utep-officially-names-rodney-terry-mens-basketball-coach "Rodney Terry, who led Fresno State to the 2016 Mountain West Conference Tournament title and three postseason bids in the last five years, was appointed the 19th head coach in UTEP men’s basketball history on Monday" Impressed with this hire... Raised in Angleton, TX Long time assistant at Texas for Rick Barnes Mid-major success as HC Some may disagree but I think moves that raise the profile of CUSA are a good thing, in general - and poaching a coach from the MWC does just that.
  15. Apparently, I'm in the minority in thinking this is money well spent. This program needs to begin to set a culture where postseason action is the expectation. The 5 win 2016 football season ended with an academic-driven HOD Bowl invite, but I think we all saw how beneficial that was for Littrell and his staff to support their culture change with the players. I see similarities with the CBI - especially if we can make a run
  16. Much of it was familiar to those of us who get to hear Littrell talk frequently but it still felt great to have such a positive advertisement for our program on such a popular (and primarily Power 5 focused) CFB podcast. Of course, Rubenstein's pronouncement that this is The Year of Littrell sure had a nice ring to it.
  17. https://www.solidverbal.com/2018/03/08/seth-littrell-air-raid/ Ty and Dan are joined by Seth Littrell, head football coach of North Texas, to discuss the evolution of his air raid offense, the process of teaching his players and staff, the ways that defenses are adapting to his system, and emerging trends in offensive football.

  19. I think an area were we may see noteworthy improvement is in our turnover margin (#121 in the nation in 2017). Another year of seasoning for Fine and ball carriers who may protect the ball better than Wilson did. I also expect that the coaching staff continuity this off-season compared to 2017 could really help our defense play faster - hopefully resulting in more takeaways.
  20. Per NDT Scouting, Jeff's Weigh-in results.. Height: 5'11" Weight: 210lbs https://www.ndtscouting.com/nfl-scouting-combine-2018-player-measurement-tracker/
  21. Whatever their stated budget status, someone will still be dropping bags for their hoops program. After "landing" Mitchell Robinson (#9 national recruit per 247sports) in 2017, WKU is reportedly in on Charles Bassey (#3 national recruit) in 2019... https://www.courier-journal.com/story/sports/preps/kentucky/2018/02/14/western-kentucky-basketball-mix-nations-top-2019-recruit-charles-bassey/332583002/
  22. Heading in to 2017, the DBs were thought to be the strength of our defense, if not the entire team. After failing to live up to the expectations a year ago, Reffett and Nate Brown should be feeling quite a bit of pressure to really right the ship in 2018. I recognize that editing and small sample size play a large part of my perspective here, but in scenes of Beyond the Green when Reffett was coaching up the DBs on the sidelines, it felt like his schemes may have been too complex to allow players to play with speed and confidence. This interpretation of their interactions seems to match the play on the field. I'm hoping the staff takes a close look at how the scheme fits with the players on the roster and make the necessary adjustments this off-season.
  23. Indoor practice facility will be great but - as Vito makes mention of - this week's weather should help in evaluating the kicker situation to see if we can be confident with what we have heading into fall camp.
  24. These late losses really hurt but the positive is that the squad is young and the McCasland era is fresh. Plenty of opportunity to apply the lessons being learned as we close out the season (hopefully with a deep tourney run) and continue to move the program out of the Benford bleakness.
  25. Sport on... Possessions per game (national rank): Marshall = #4 North Texas = #162 Three point attempts per game (national rank): Marshall = #9 North Texas = #136
