  1. How do we know that is happening with an Admin person or staff? No wins and losses to judge by. As fans we have limited knowledge of goals and accomplishments for the AD as a whole... as far as meeting Master Plan timelines, marketing, donations, season ticket sales, business renewals and additions, etc. We judge by fan engagement and communication or mess ups in ticketing, events, etc.
  2. I guarantee if he gets 20 wins this season he will see outside interest. Coaches here either get eventually fired or not renewed if they lose, or get hired away if they win. The only coach I can recall that retired at NT was former football coach Odus Mitchell. He retired at age 67, after coaching football 1946-66, with a record of 114-83-9.
  3. We are not, and never should strive to be the "University of Denton". Is the ECU basketball intro: Welcome fans to "Greenville, America!"??
  4. He's a $mut fan = troll.
  5. Exactly. More fans on campus year-round should be the goal.
  6. Nice. I haven't had time either to see TSU's mens/womens sports offerings to our, plus Title IX and budget comparisons.
  7. ECU fans love their Baseball....some more than their Football. They have a very good program and it gets a lot of support. AAC is one of the best baseball conferences in the country...we should be a part of it!
  8. Yes, that is a nice looking facility. Just what we need!!
  9. Yes, lost to Virginia, also in OT.
  10. Baseball would be more than another sport. It is a spectator/revenue sport, unlike track, tennis, swimming and golf. We need something in the spring, more than softball, to engage fans back to campus. Fans are becoming more detached from actually attending sporting events at the school = less interest = less donations. If we're not going to market better for football and basketball at least have another sport in spring to lure fans to come back.
  11. I wouldn't consider Idaho a prime baseball state. Texas however, is. I think we are one of only two schools in the AAC without Baseball. Embarrassing!
  12. Long article, but a good recap of where many issues stand. Main summary is that a unified Congress (Republicans) may be able to finally quell the lawsuits and keep the NCAA from eating its own over revenue to the biggest programs... ....................................................... "A bipartisan group of senators is drafting a measure to help prevent a split among NCAA schools." "Many in college sports believe that an unregulated market will inevitably push the small group of schools that generate most of the industry's revenue to sever ties with the rest of their Division I peers. A split could create less interesting matchups for fans and jeopardize the ability of smaller schools to keep funding sports at their current levels. Cruz said he wants to give the NCAA the tools it needs to stop that from happening." "Nobody wants to see a handful of super schools with unlimited cash, all the best athletes and nobody else even able to survive," Cruz said. "For too long the NCAA failed to address issues to protect athletes, but obviously there is new leadership there at the NCAA," Blumenthal said. "There is also a real need to make sure there is a level playing field among schools, or at least as fair as it can be." https://www.espn.com/college-sports/story/_/id/43348934/house-settlement-ncaa-sec-big-ten-nil
  13. No, not so sure. The new(er) PAC with partial expansion (they still need another football program) has NO media deal yet. The AAC gets $82mil/yr until 2031 and mainstream ESPN exposure. Let's compare apples to apples...media exposure and revenue when the PAC gets some estimates.
  14. Tulane was, and USF at one point.
  15. UNLV was offered a "Boise" type deal with higher revenue than the other members to stay in the MWC. They may come to regret it. The PAC needs at least one more football member. I believe they will make another run at Memphi$ when they get more media deal info. I'm surprised the AAC hasn't floated a GOR agreement already with current members to keep them in-house.
  16. Why do you think UT, OU, USC, UCLA, etc wanted out of their cozy P4 Conferences? They would have an easier shot at the CFP from those....but they know a bigger shift is coming...
  17. A retro Flying Worm basketball uniform would be cool! Yes, I remember it as a Drake head coach said after we beat his good team that coming to Denton and playing North Texas was like playing in a "snake pit" I think some students after that started throwing rubber snakes on the floor during games to intimidate opponents, lol. Here is the reference... "Before being named for Bahnsen in 2005, the gym was simply called the Men’s Gym. However, the “Snake Pit” caught on as a popular nickname. There are many rumors of its origin, but much of the credit of coining the name goes to former Drake University head coach Maury John, according to meangreensports.com. “This is the worst d--- place in the world to play basketball,” John said after a game against UNT. “This place is a snake pit.” The name caught on quick. Students would bring fake snakes – some stories even claim they brought real ones – to games following John’s statement. The moniker lasted to the stadium’s retirement from NCAA basketball." https://www.ntdaily.com/sports/bahnsen-gym-holds-key-spot-in-unt-basketballs-history/article_84617a0b-5971-5638-a84c-782e592af4ff.html
  18. It's not being "too cheap". It's not wanting to give $$ to a random guy in a dark trench coat saying it will be given to some random player. It's similar to believing a poster named "Deep Throte". ....but I do think you know what's really going on, so I do believe you, lol.
  19. Sorry, if you don't have an SEC or Big10 patch you're not on any lifeboat.
  20. Agree with this. Denton has never embraced UNT as "it's" school to support with the town.
  21. Those qualities may be fine for us, but nor for ECU or Charlotte or USF, etc. There is no way they want another Texas school in the AAC. They would rather have Ga State, or Jax St., or James Madison, or App St, or WKU. Also, a 16-18 team conference gets too big. It needs to stay 12-14 football/basketball members at most.
  22. I didn't notice any fans on the TV broadcast wearing the T-shirt handout. I saw one 12-year-old with a bright green Flying Worm sweatshirt on...it looked great by the way! Nothing else retro noticeable or discussed on the broadcast...other than how the Super Pit got it's name and the Snake Pit got it's name. The AD, most staff, admin, coaches, etc are not NT alum nor attached to it other than for the paycheck and job. Fans are here because of support for the school or team, not the paying job. Fans have been around long enough to see effort or lack of effort.
  23. He played the last two minutes of the game. Thought they were going to get in sooner. Rice never got closer than 20 in the second half.
  24. The worst thing they did was end the Mean Green Club. Now it's little to no communication or insight on what's happening and pass the collection plate to buy a player for 10 months that will just leave before the Bowl game.
  25. We were fortunate to have good weather = a good crowd and favorable playing conditions. Had the artic front arrived a couple days earlier it would have impacted the game play and attendance with that strong, cold north wind and freezing temps.
