From Google: The NCAA selects host schools for the basketball tournament based on several factors, including: Regional ranking: Schools with higher regional rankings are more likely to be selected as hosts Geography: The location of the school in relation to other teams Facilities: The quality of the school's facilities Attendance history: The school's history of attendance Revenue potential: The school's potential for generating revenue Willingness to host: The school's interest in hosting the event Travel costs: The committee may consider schools that are closer to other teams in the pod to reduce travel costs The NCAA also considers the ability to create a great experience for student-athletes. This includes providing ample lodging, ensuring the location is easy to travel to, and adhering to NCAA principles for safety and respect. The NCAA selection committees also build the brackets and decide which schools will host each weekend.

We could easily be 7-1 and in the top of the conference with just an average defense. He and the program would be more in the National spotlight then. It is a wasted opportunity for all up to this point because of the defense.

WEST POINT, N.Y. -- Army star quarterback Bryson Daily will miss Saturday's game against Air Force with an undisclosed injury/illness, Army officials told ESPN. With Daily sidelined, junior Dewayne Coleman will fill in at quarterback and make his first career start. There is no timetable at this point on how long Daily might be out of the lineup, but Army officials don't think it's a season-ending setback. https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/42147762/army-star-qb-bryson-daily-miss-game-vs-air-force

A PAC/MWC merger plus adding Gonzaga and GCU would have been the best outcome. But none of the Conference-level staffs wanted to be purged out so they both played hardball. These fringe additions like UTEP, NIU, Akron, Texas State, SAC St don't move the needle more.

I trust Ross to find good transfers like he did last season. If the secret scrimmage results were accurate that was a good sign. Last season we got into some injury situations I hope we avoid this year. I'm anxious to see the new roster play together....it's like Christmas.... see what we got!

We weren't going to win head to head initially for players with a P4 scholarship offers, and sometimes not even for walkons. 20 more ships per P4 is not that much impact considering how many players there are. We get homesick kids and kids that just want a change and more access to the field. It's the P4 players #85-105 that we can still target and who will soon tire of being just practice fodder at a P4, even on scholarship. NT offers better opportunity for those players. Just think also of all the FCS, Dll, JUCO, etc level players there are too we can still attract. I believe Morris has a good eye for transfers that have interest in us. He just needs to overhaul the defensive side for next season.
-
Exactly, that's the point. Nothing has really changed for us. The reason we can attract over-rostered P4 players is they want "playing opportunity" that we can provide. I was responding to your point of "Meaning we're going to have a much harder shot at landing those players."

I wonder if it is demoralizing to the offense as it is to fans to know our defense will probably let the opponent score again? Our offense keeps trying to get the team back in the game, but it’s like they are fighting the opponent’s defense as well as our own defense.
-
Yes P4s will fund all of their roster spots. But the thing P4s can’t offer to all 105 players is significant playing time. We could offer a player like Chandler Morris, coming back from injury or on the depth chart, perhaps a better opportunity to play sooner.
-
No, 105 players will be allowed on a FBS roster (not 128 like now) and all 105 can all be on scholarship, but it’s not required an FBS program make them all scholarship spots. If the AAC only requires 85 scholarships then the rest can be walk-on or non-scholarship.

Still, he didn't have to let Benford stay in charge. An Interim coach would have done a better job, or even a Fan out of the stands.

Agree. Wren's first rookie mistake at NT as an AD was letting Benford stay for his 5th year as men's basketball coach. He did find a nice replacement after finally firing Benford the next year, but it should have happened sooner. Same for keeping Seth too long. It's like he didn't want to fire anyone under contract. As for Wren leaving NT for WVU, I thought he would move up eventually. But that job location is a difficult place to make fans happy. Don't enter the Portal and take the NIL without considering the warnings!

From Vito.... Morris named to Davey O’Brien list UNT quarterback Chandler Morris was among 35 players named to the Davey O’Brien watch list on Tuesday. The honor goes to the top quarterback in the country each season. The TCU transfer has thrived in his first season with the Mean Green, throwing for 2,873 yards and 26 touchdowns. Morris has thrown for more than 400 yards in three of UNT’s last four games, including 449 in the Mean Green’s loss to Tulane last week. https://dentonrc.com/sports/colleges/mean_green/unt-women-s-basketball-team-to-get-glimpse-of-new-mix-in-exhibition/article_3d4f623e-9655-11ef-b9ea-97860fa7c24b.html

Opening MBB opponent Evansville had an exhibition game against D-ll Tiffen last Saturday, winning 86-60. You can get an idea of their starters, minutes, and shooting percentages from the box score. They were led with 22 points by a 6-7 Freshman from Italy (NBA Global Academy).... https://gopurpleaces.com/sports/mens-basketball/stats/2024-25/tiffin/boxscore/11811

Huge offensive talent this season....wasted because of no defense on the other side.
-
I think the MWC made them all sign away their GOR this time too. Locked them in like the ACC.
-
Agree. Keeping on the same DC and expecting different results is ....you know........
