We have a very college-basketball-experienced team. I think the announcer said we were something like Top 10 in D1 in total player's college years?
-
Yes. A comment on the Oregon St board said we like to "muck it up". He thought it was good for their team to experience it and stay close on the road.
-
I heard him say in the preseason something to the effect that "starting" the game to him doesn't mean those players will play the most minutes or are necessarily always the best players. It's more about effective playing, and as the game goes on the roles increase or decrease by what the game entails who is in or out.

Big10 and WCC.
-
Maybe we should start the Bench players!
-
I had no doubt.
-
Lorient. And he should be starting over Sissoko.

All D, no O.
-
OSU has gone with a big lineup. We need to "start" hitting our outside shots.
-
Time for some halftime adjustments on Offense. 33% needs tweaked.

From the Oregon St fan forum: https://bennyshouse.com/thread/28427/osu-mean-green Undersized, athletic team that plays physical D. Need to apply some offensive pressure to get them some fouls. Too much standing, they're very "handsy" when we penetrate.

Uniform police: I approve of these home uniforms!

Chandler is fine. He just needs to check down to a lower gear than 'warp speed" sometimes.

A home softball game probably averages 500 fans, more for bigger teams. Similar for soccer. I think baseball would attract more, and the AAC is a quality league. Say 1000 attend. That's 1000 more per contest than attend golf, swimming, or track events. Those fans and alums are potential donors, and potential sponsors for advertising, or other sports attendance. Anything to get an alum back on campus supporting the school is a positive. The non-rev sports? Why do we even fund them or need them? Title IX? Check the sports offerings at schools with baseball and Title IX is not a consideration. I say re-allocate resources to revenue sports.

Sources: East Carolina to promote Blake Harrell to head coach
NT80 replied to NT80's topic in Mean Green Football
Yes, lol. Timing is everything for an interim seeking the permanent job. -
I agree I'd like to see where those schools get the dollars to buy out 3-year's worth of head coach salary. It's time for G5 programs to go to 2-3 year head coaching contracts max. If the guy is really good he will leave anyway for a P4 job. If he's really bad you want him gone, and if he has potential then add extensions as needed...but not Seth type extensions...so be careful!
-
I would also like to see Vice and Mason get more minutes. They looked good in the limited action I saw them. Senior privilege minutes for Sissoko and Stone are at the expense of better players.
-
We all know you hate baseball. If you make a dollar selling a ticket, it's revenue, and a revenue sport. Profit is different. Few college sports make a profit for an Athletic Department at the G5 level. Baseball (as opposed to golf, swimming, track, etc) would lure fans to campus in the spring, spur donations, as well as tickets and merchandise. It's not always about making money (profit)...it's keeping relationships with fans and alums year-round. Non-revenue sports aren't doing it.
-
If you sell tickets to it, it is a revenue sport. If you don't care about it then that's on your fans and AD.

"ECU fell behind 21-0 to UNT on Saturday and stormed back for an emphatic 40-28 win. In the aftermath of that emotional victory, the players amplified their rallying cry to keep Harrell as the coach." The National ESPN article includes opening video of ECU scoring at will on us.... https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/42602928/sources-east-carolina-promote-blake-harrell-head-coach

ESPN Spread is NT -6.5

To hire a Coach that isn't such a risk takes $$. Otherwise you: -hire a fired former Head Coach and take a chance (McCarney), -hire a hot shot Coordinator at a P4 and hope he knows how to become a HC (Seth), -or hire a HC from a lower division and hope he can translate his style to FBS level (Morris)
-
Seriously? The AD doesn't care about verbal fan demands...unless you have a check with lots of $$$ on it to give?? Every fan of every team that is below .500 is also demanding their coach and AD be fired. It's a yearly tradition. One we have participated in far too often. Anyway....the point is (most) everyone on this board is a fan, and nobody is happy about losing. The first reaction in losing is fire the coach. You already know it won't happen until money is not an issue. Why didn't we fire the DC on a 2-year contract after his first season? $$
