Disagree. La Tech may not have been so foolish in not re-joining the sinking SBC instead of the WAC. Our AC is nice, but Tech's football and baseball stadiums are better than ours (oh right, we don't have a baseball stadium). NT's campus has more potential, but we all know where potential will take you (?)...

I believe what Adler was referring to was right after the game ended. The players ran or walked off the field right past the section where the NT fans were and only about 3 made jestures or looked into the stands, probably saying hi to parents. Most non-parent fans don't go visit the locker room area so this is the last time many fans see the players. If you looked at the La Tech players or players from many other schools, the players stay on the field after the game ends for a few seconds to either stand for the playing of the school song if the band is there or to jesture to friends/fans in the stands, WIN or LOSE. I hadn't really noticed it before at Fouts until the post a few weeks ago, but the players walking off when the school song is played is not respectful. As for the away games after a loss, I know the players feel bad, so do the fans. But to ignore your supporters, win or lose, as a politician would say, is just not good manners.

North Texas Board of Regents Chairman of BOR, Athletics Council, and rumored protector of DD. He is very pro-UNT Athletics and I'm not sure about his protection of DD label. Helped secure Eagle Point for Athletics, funding for the Athletic Center, etc.

Because the school has been shut down since Hurricane Katrina, it's projected the university will lose $200 million this school year. If Tulane does drop football, CUSA will need another school or football-only school. Would UNT join CUSA for football-only? Would CUSA invite us over La Tech or ULL? I doubt CUSA would invite us based on our recent football demise, but maybe they'll look at our... our...something...and be impressed. Maybe not.

Only beating the Bottom 10 teams in the country is the reason we're in the mess we're in now. The "4 Bowls, 4 Conference Championships" hide the fact our record against the rest of college football (including 1-AA) over the same coaching period is 7-41, soon to be 7-42.

Maybe the phone line to the locker room was out? I passed by after the game and saw George interviewing DD outside the locker room, like they were talking into a small recorder. Still....we probably already know the standard answers: youth, inexperience, turnovers, didn't execute, penalties, poor field position, blah, blah......

OU wore throwback uni's against us two years ago. Flying Worm throwbacks for our homecoming would be great!

Exactly. The SBC has been a good "temporary" home for us since the breakup of Big West football. But I never saw it as a final stop. We win it 4 times and what have we really achieved, what are we offered? A WAC invite (only because of location), and a CUSA visit (again because of location?). To get more and accomplish more, we need to beat the teams we want to be with someday...the Tulsas, Houstons, USM's, Memphis's, La Techs, Smuus, etc. We haven't done it. That MUST be the goal, not just another SBC trophy.

That's a good regional group to beat out for a player.

I think you should review the past 7 years OOC scores.

The question was: "Will/Should DD get another contract extension" The answer (phrased another way): NO Now if the question was: Should DD's contract be renegotiated (salary only) to include criteria based on factors like attendance and OOC wins then I would say yes. But no length extension past 2009 until we see some OOC improvment. This is the biggest negative right now on us getting into a better conference!

I believe this is all rumor. It started many months ago when the SBC was wondering if FAU and FIU would qualify for 1-A and if ULM would jump to the SBC for all-sports and we wanted 9 for football. There was general board talk about what 1-AAs may want to move up (Texas State, WKY, Ga Sou, FAMU, SW Mo., etc.) Texas State admins said no to 1-A and I think Mo State also has NO planned move to 1-A; cost and attendance mentioned. Let them rot in 1-AA. BTW: did anyone catch the SFA at Sam Houston game on FSN Thursday night? Brought back memories of our Southland days...bad memories, very high schoolish looking.
