Pro: If we beat the Muts then we open 1-0 at home against Tulsa. That would help attendance since we haven't won our first game since 1996.

Nice win for Ohio, probably biggest in their history the announcers said. I still can't understand why Solich was let go by Nebraska.

Just received mine today, but missing a couple items; always something.

Plus, we wouldn't want to deprive ULM of being our homecoming fodder!

Some National press from the AP: North Texas game rescheduled for Oct. 29 at LSU September 9, 2005 BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) -- The LSU-North Texas football game, originally scheduled as the season opener for Sept. 3, has been rescheduled for Oct. 29 in Tiger Stadium. The postponement was forced by Hurricane Katrina. The shift came about after two games involving North Texas, Louisiana-Lafayette and Louisiana-Monroe were moved to different dates, LSU officials said Friday. An Oct. 29 game between North Texas and Louisiana-Monroe will be played on Nov. 19. The Louisiana-Monroe and Louisiana-Lafayette game scheduled for Nov. 19 will be played on Nov. 26. ``Our friends in the University of Louisiana System, particularly presidents Ray Authement of UL-Lafayette and Jim Cofer of ULM, as well as North Texas President Norval Pohl, have come to our aid in making this move possible,'' said LSU Chancellor Sean O'Keefe.

North Texas And LSU Reschedule Football Game For October 29 Courtesy: University of North Texas Release: 09/09/2005 DENTON, Texas – The University of North Texas and Louisiana State University, along with the cooperation of the University of Louisiana-Monroe and the University of Louisiana-Lafayette, have reached an agreement to reschedule their football game originally planned for Sept. 3. The game was postponed when Baton Rouge and LSU became staging grounds for the relief and recovery effort of Hurricane Katrina. The change will require North Texas to play at LSU on Oct. 29, when it was originally scheduled to host Louisiana-Monroe in Denton. The game against Louisiana-Monroe will now be played on Nov. 19, which was originally an open date for the Mean Green. “Because of the cooperation of our president Dr. Norval Pohl along with Dr. James Cofer at Louisiana-Monroe and Dr. Wayne Andrepont at Louisiana-Lafayette we were able to come to an amicable resolution with the administration at LSU,” Athletic Director Rick Villarreal said. “Bobby Staub at Louisiana-Monroe and David Walker at Louisiana-Lafayette were also very instrumental in the effort. I would also like to thank our head coach Darrell Dickey who has supported this process through a very difficult time for everyone.” With Louisiana-Monroe coming to Denton on Nov. 19, it was forced to reschedule its game with Louisiana-Lafayette, which will now be played on Nov. 26. North Texas will have to move its homecoming that was scheduled for the Oct. 29 game. “I am pleased that the three Sun Belt schools could come to the aid of LSU at a time when it faces many difficulties,”North Texas President Dr. Norval Pohl said. “I applaud the effort of Athletic Director Rick Villarreal and his counterparts to bring this to a workable solution.” Revised North Texas Football Schedule Sept. 10 at Middle Tennessee Sept. 17 Tulsa Sept. 24 at Kansas State Oct. 4 Troy (ESPN2) Oct. 15 at Florida International Oct. 22 at Louisiana Tech Oct. 29 at LSU Nov. 5 Louisiana-Lafayette Nov. 12 at Florida Atlantic Nov. 19 Louisiana-Monroe Nov. 26 Arkansas State

Streak Secondary For Mean Green In Opener

I think DD may be on to something! -
13-3 OSU at half. FAU shot themselves in the foot many times in the first half. OSU looks horrible for a Big?12 team. FAU has the quickness on defense to hold OSU. If only their offense can score FAU could shock em.
-
The line has dropped from 17 to 14.5 in favor of OSU. This will be played at Dolphins Stadium. I'm curious to see what kind of crowd FAU draws for their first big 1-A home game and National TV. NT plays FAU later at their campus field.

Owls excited about national TV game FAU says it will win, even if it loses game, thanks to exposure By Ted Hutton Staff Writer Posted September 8 2005 In the long run, the score of tonight's game between Florida Atlantic and Oklahoma State will not mean as much as the fact that the Owls played a Big 12 opponent on national television. "Anytime you can get on television it validates you to a degree," said FAU coach Howard Schnellenberger. "Our thinking is it is better to be on television and not win than it is not to be on television at all." ESPN2, which reaches 88 million households, will broadcast the game at 6 p.m. CST at Dolphins Stadium. "The exposure is more than you can hope for," said Kurt Van Valkenburgh, FAU's assistant head coach and recruiting coordinator. "It's justifying what we have been saying all along -- this is where we are going. "Here we are, on national TV, playing Oklahoma State. It's not a dream. It's real." It is the only college game on the schedule, and football fans will have just one choice until 9 p.m., when the NFL season opener between the Super Bowl champion New England Patriots and Oakland Raiders begins. "This will certainly go a long way into introducing our program to the nation," Schnellenberger said. Despite being underdogs, FAU already has won, Athletic Director Craig Angelos said. Getting a nationally known, Big 12 opponent to come to South Florida, and then having the game on national TV is something Angelos never anticipated, because FAU is starting its fifth season and first at the Division I-A level. "For us to get that, for them to come to us first, that is unheard of," Angelos said. "It is nothing we did other than be really lucky." FAU and Oklahoma State agreed to the deal in which FAU would play at Oklahoma State twice, with the Cowboys playing in South Florida once. "Typically they'll want you to come up twice and on the third one they'll buy you out so they don't have to come to your place," Angelos said. Instead, Oklahoma State agreed to play in South Florida first because that fit better with its future schedules, and the Owls will play at Stillwater, Okla., in 2006 and 2007. Originally scheduled for Saturday, the game was moved to so it could be on ESPN2. No matter what happens on the field, Van Valkenburgh said, recruiting will be easier. "By November, kids will have forgotten the score, but they know you will have played on ESPN2 against Oklahoma State," Van Valkenburgh said. "It was my dream, but when I got here I figured it wouldn't happen," offensive lineman Nello Faulk said about facing a Big 12 team on national TV. "We are a top team now. People can just turn on the TV and they'll see me playing. They can watch us newcomers and see what we can do." While Schnellenberger and Van Valkenburgh know how the game will help build the football program, Angelos said the impact on the university is tougher to gauge. "You can't exactly pinpoint what it does tangibly. People say these games are like a three-hour infomercial," Angelos said. "What we want to do is get more national attention to legitimize who we are."

NORTH TEXAS NOTEBOOK Villarreal sets Thursday deadline DENTON – Athletic director Rick Villarreal set a Thursday deadline for the school to reschedule its football game against LSU. The game was scheduled for Saturday but was postponed because of Hurricane Katrina. Villarreal said UNT must set its schedule and finalize plans for homecoming festivities, which are set for Oct. 29. One plan to reschedule the LSU game calls for UNT to move its game against Louisiana-Monroe and play the Tigers in Baton Rouge, La. UNT has a $500,00 contract to play LSU. Quarterback situation familiar for Dickey DENTON – Coach Darrell Dickey said his experience as a player and a coach will help adjust to playing with an unproven quarterback when the Mean Green open the season at Middle Tennessee on Saturday. Dickey led Kansas State to a 19-3 win at Missouri in 1979 in his first start as a redshirt freshman. Dickey later coached Andrew Smith, who started the final 12 games of his redshirt freshman season in 2002 and led UNT to the Sun Belt Conference title and a win over Cincinnati in the New Orleans Bowl. Dickey has named redshirt freshman Daniel Meager the starter for the season opener. Freshman Matt Phillips and redshirt freshman Kellen Haynes are also expected to play. Pruitt questionable for Saturday's game DENTON – Junior defensive lineman Sky Pruitt (shoulder), a starter at tackle, is questionable for the opener against Middle Tennessee on Saturday, coach Darrell Dickey. That looks like a scene out of a disaster movie made in Hollywood. A sad ending to some fine memories for NT. -
I was going to say I was shocked ULM wasn't on that list after losing to NW State. The SBC will get no respect until they: 1.) stop losing games to 1-AA teams 2.) beat a 1-A team from another conference 3.) stop getting beat 60-whatever to any BCS school
