From another thread: GDMG Today, 10:36 AM Post #12 According to Mandy McKinley, he was in Denton preparing for a group from the NCAA that will be in town this week. They are apparently picking miscellaneous schools to visit and check out. I guess this is something they do every year, and we are one of the ones chosen this year.

Games and championships will be forgotten over time, a stadium keeps making an impact at least 53 years.

Cobbs needs only 121 more yards to break the school rushing record. Does DD know about this? Not to take snaps away from JMo, but it would be nice if PC achieved this record at home against Tulsa!

Only three read his column: his mom, Vito, and the bird in the cage sitting above it!

No mention of DD not running up the score?
NT80 replied to MeanGreen61's topic in Mean Green Football
I was confused when DD took the FG points off the scoreboard and accepted the penalty against MT and the ball back. I was yelling at the TV "we're up 17-7 and you do what??". I thought he wanted a TD (more points ala Baylor) instead of the FG. Then I saw them down the ball and realized MT was out of timeouts and they didn't have to risk a kickoff this way. All is forgiven, except 21-7 would have looked better in the papers! -
Like every year, I would like to see more blitzes from our Defense. Marks had too much time to throw, and although he had 3 ints, he was like 21-27. More QB pressure is needed against Tulsa as their QB tore up OU for 3 quarters, leading 9-7.

Yes, PLEASE!!

I think it did. The team had no negatives coming into the game, except inexperience. The more they hung with MTSU, just waiting for good things to happen, the more they did happen. I don't think we'd have the same confidence and patience if we'd been beat last week.
-
Agree, not a bad night for a first game. I think we'll see him get better with experience, as in the 25-second clock, he didn't make that mistake again. I am still concerned with his health, he seemed to sprain an ankle later in the game and they re-taped it, and the announcers mentioned his shoulder too.

Scrap The Spelled Out "North Texas" on the Helmet!
NT80 replied to PlummMeanGreen's topic in Mean Green Football
No, it was the same green as last year. They didn't have time to change the green for this season before the order was due so it will be next year when we get the new color on the unis. I like the new logo font better than the script. And I was afraid they were going to make the Texas smaller then North as in the decals they gave out with the season tickets. I'm glad they kept the words the same size and just offset them. It could be larger to be more visable from a distance, and better yet would be just a NT on them! -
North Texas 14, Middle Tenn. St. 7 Preview - Box Score - Recap Middle Tenn. St. September 10, 2005 MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (AP) -- Maurice Holman returned a third-quarter interception for 99 yards and a touchdown as North Texas defeated Middle Tennessee 14-7 on Saturday. Patrick Cobbs scored North Texas' only touchdown on offense later in the same quarter on a 4-yard run. Cobbs rushed for 103 total yards, caught four passes for another 36 yards and returned two kicks for 56 yards. North Texas (1-0) was playing its first game of the season because its season opener last week at Louisiana State was postponed by Hurricane Katrina. The win extends the Mean Green's 26-game streak over Sun Belt Conference opponents -- the longest conference winning streak in the country with its last league loss coming in 2001 against Louisiana-Monroe. Middle Tennessee (0-2) gained more total yards than North Texas -- 383 to 274 -- but had trouble with turnovers. Their only score came on a 6-yard run by Eugene Gross in the second quarter. Gross finished with 129 rushing yards. MTSU's quarterback Clint Marks completed 21 of 27 passes for 195 yards, but he was hurt by three interceptions, including one with 3:44 remaining in the fourth quarter. The Blue Raiders also lost two fumbles. North Texas quarterback completed 10 of 15 passes for 122 yards, but the Mean Green had no interceptions or fumbles.

Muts are snakebit against us. Meager was 10-15 no ints., not a bad night for a first start. We looked young, and are, according to George the third youngest 1-A team out there. A win is a win especially a win at Muts!!
-
I like the new helmets, the logo looks better than the script. The jersey color is the same as last year because they didn't have time to order the new color before they were due to the manufacturer. They will be different next year. I also like the Mean Green on the jerseys, larger and easier to read than the smallish North Texas on them last season.

Wow. Maybe a little let-down playing SMUt after beating OU? I bet TCU comes out after a halftime yelling and gets back up.
-
Pro: If we beat the Muts then we open 1-0 at home against Tulsa. That would help attendance since we haven't won our first game since 1996.
-
Nice win for Ohio, probably biggest in their history the announcers said. I still can't understand why Solich was let go by Nebraska.

Just received mine today, but missing a couple items; always something.

Plus, we wouldn't want to deprive ULM of being our homecoming fodder!
