It was a great game, not just because who was in it, but it was back and forth and a lot of tension. NT was ranked #1 in 1-AA at the time and had already beaten Rice and Texas Tech that season. Scott Davis had over 400+ yards passing against UT. Marcus Camper as receiver and returner was unbelievable.

Ya, right. Since there are no 1-A teams wanting to join the SBC, and no 1-AAs moving up right now that's easy to say. Watch as soon as Georgia Southern or Texas State hints they are considering moving up how fast WW is on a plane there.

Ah yes, I think we called it Towel-gate from Logan, Utah. The team went to play Utah State and all visiting teams usually stayed at a place called I believe the Bahh Motel, because they have these cute towels with embroidered sheep on them. It was always customary for guests to take/borrow a few of the towels as keepsakes. Well, as I heard it, the team checked out of the motel and went to the game. As a they're in the locker rooms, police demand that the players luggage be unloaded and checked for stolen items from the motel. Apparently a few players decided to also borrow VCRs and other items.

The New Orleans loss really subdued any momentum that was gained with an 8-4 record. Saturday's attendance was 2100+ with 2 more home games Thu and Sat. If we had a 10-4 record heading into the game next Saturday against a good Denver team I could see 3000+ easy, now ? It's always one step forward then two back. As for planned promotions (?); they need to actively recruit students when classes resume with giveaways or free food, etc. Otherwise there are 2 main ways to attract attendance: 1. win or 2. a quality opponent.

That's actually not a bad idea, a 12-team MWC. UTEP would help bridge the UNM-TCU gap and Fresno would help bridge the SDSU distance. Only thing is Hawaii being left out, but that is an expensive trip for most programs.

If he's been recruited as a backup at other programs and we gave him the old "you can help us rebuild and start right away..." speech then he might be sold.

The recent 54-2, 54-7, 40-14, and 56-3 losses from this past season make more of an impact on a high school kid (and parents) about us than a player's name from 40 years ago.

Because it's college football related, as much as threads about the SMU AD, WAC, or Michael Vick are; and there are at least 10 other threads on the same subject/game. It is offseason, there's nothing else to talk about UNT-football related until we see an official recruit list or someone gets fired or quits. humm...

First, 1-A conferences base decisions first on football. They are moving toward all-sports only members, starting with them playing 1-A football. I can't see the WAC dropping a 1-A football-playing member (Idaho) to pickup a non-football playing member (Denver). I'd prefer a CUSA spot, otherwise I've always liked the possibility of an east/west division WAC/SBC. Something more like: West: Nevada Fresno St. Boise Hawaii Idaho SanJose Utah St. East: NMSU North Texas La Tech Louisiana Ark. St. ULM MTSU, Troy, TX St. or MO St. Opps, forgot Nevada...that would make a 14-team league more likely.

The Texas / USC game is being replayed on ESPN Classic today at 6pm. Personally, I think I'll watch Lucy reruns instead.

Sounds like Knight and Co. should do a better job of scouting a player longer before offering ships. This isn't the first player they tried to run off after signing. Wreck Tech!!

I've heard many SMU fans wish he'd go. Maybe Southern Mustang can give us some odds on his leaving. I'd also heard he was one of the roadblocks to renew the UNT/SMU football series.

I doubt it; outside Texas we won't play anyone probably in the Top 60.
