You paid too much.... another NT mini
  2. So, does this recruiting service serve as a way to find kids a program is looking for or just to provide text messaging to them?
  3. Yes, that's it Thailand. I think the Development Office stole him from Athletics after he bought that large block of tickets. They hate it when donors give $$ to Athletics instead of Music or Academics.
  4. We still have Talons at the games? I thought they left along with the cheerleaders?
  5. We had to show 17K average "tickets sold" in 1994 to be able to move up to 1-A in 1995. An alum from Malayasia bought 10,000. Plus, we had a good team in 1994 with Mitch Maher and Co.
  6. L. J. didn't want an "NT" logo on the helmet because he didn't think it stood for North Texas. We had NT on the helmets almost as long as he's been L. J.
  7. Thank you Darrell.
  8. Me too. With Dr. Pohl being forced out and LJ selecting his own I expect a decline of emphasis in Athletics. Not good times ahead I fear.
  9. Well, you will also note our best 4 consecutive years record-wise were 01-04. Yes DD years, but they also happen to be the start of SBC conference play (7-38 OOC). Keep it in perspective.
  10. Hey, I have a good memory, it's just short!
  11. If DD ever achieves a National Championship or Orange Bowl win for NT I'm sure we'll be happy to honor him too, until then...
  12. Can he coach the football team too?

Very nice. I'm anxious to see the ones we ordered.
  14. It was a great game, not just because who was in it, but it was back and forth and a lot of tension. NT was ranked #1 in 1-AA at the time and had already beaten Rice and Texas Tech that season. Scott Davis had over 400+ yards passing against UT. Marcus Camper as receiver and returner was unbelievable.
  15. Too bu$y flying to Kansas, Missouri, and Houston.
  16. If UNT wanted the most media ever for beating Texas, this would be the year to do it. Hint: don't bet your house.
  17. Ya, right. Since there are no 1-A teams wanting to join the SBC, and no 1-AAs moving up right now that's easy to say. Watch as soon as Georgia Southern or Texas State hints they are considering moving up how fast WW is on a plane there.
  18. Ah yes, I think we called it Towel-gate from Logan, Utah. The team went to play Utah State and all visiting teams usually stayed at a place called I believe the Bahh Motel, because they have these cute towels with embroidered sheep on them. It was always customary for guests to take/borrow a few of the towels as keepsakes. Well, as I heard it, the team checked out of the motel and went to the game. As a they're in the locker rooms, police demand that the players luggage be unloaded and checked for stolen items from the motel. Apparently a few players decided to also borrow VCRs and other items.
  19. I have not seen a predicted schedule yet that lists the 12th game. This one is unofficial: North Texas (Sun Belt) 9/2 Sat @ Texas 9/9 Sat vs. Southern Methodist 9/16 Sat @ Tulsa 9/30 Sat vs. *Middle Tennessee State 10/7 Sat @ *Troy 10/21 Sat vs. *Florida International 10/28 Sat @ *Louisiana-Monroe 11/4 Sat vs. Louisiana Tech 11/11 Sat @ *Louisiana-Lafayette 11/18 Sat vs. *Florida Atlantic 11/25 Sat @ *Arkansas State
  20. The New Orleans loss really subdued any momentum that was gained with an 8-4 record. Saturday's attendance was 2100+ with 2 more home games Thu and Sat. If we had a 10-4 record heading into the game next Saturday against a good Denver team I could see 3000+ easy, now ? It's always one step forward then two back. As for planned promotions (?); they need to actively recruit students when classes resume with giveaways or free food, etc. Otherwise there are 2 main ways to attract attendance: 1. win or 2. a quality opponent.
  21. Not a glowing report.
  22. How about adding in the talent level of coaches to the equation?
  23. The line for the NT/UT game just dropped 28 points. Now at -40.
  24. That's actually not a bad idea, a 12-team MWC. UTEP would help bridge the UNM-TCU gap and Fresno would help bridge the SDSU distance. Only thing is Hawaii being left out, but that is an expensive trip for most programs.
