  1. Nice conference.
  2. Thanks Harry for the reply. I appreciate the practice reports because I want to know how things look out there when I can't see it myself. Why doesn't Athletics put out a practice roster on their site? Didn't they used to in the past for Spring plus a practice schedule? Another wasted opportunity for fans to get excited about football again. They should encourage fans learning who players are and might even try to sell some tickets ala Idaho in the spring.

  4. I believe it's official school name was "North Texas Female College" and it closed in 1935, but you can still find postcards from it on eBay for sale. A brief history of it's Sherman history: "The Sherman Male and Female High School, also known as the Sherman Male and Female Institute, began accepting students in 1866, making it one of three private schools registering students in Sherman. In 1873 the Sherman Male and Female High School became the North Texas Female College and offered primary, preparatory, and college education. In 1876 Austin College, a male college, relocated to Sherman from Huntsville.A public school system was established in 1883, and, along with Austin College, the North Texas Female College, and Mary Nash College, provided Sherman with a wealth of educational institutions. While Kidd-Key College (formerly the North Texas Female College) closed its doors in 1935, a number of private schools and colleges remained open."
  5. It would help if we had a 2006 Spring roster on the official site instead of 2005's.
  6. Never say never. It's very hard to use a logo on a uniform without a third color for trim. UNT has started using black as a third trim color, and I like it, especially with the Kelly green (much preferred over the copper and navy that was tried). The UTA "A" logo even as depicted will need a trim color (red was used recently for UTA) and especially against a dark blue uniform you can't use black. I see some orange trim in your future even if the AD says no. New UTA logo
  7. Thanks Cullen, good luck to you in the future. Illuvius32, you're fired as practice scout! (just kidding) Seriously, we need to find out who #5 really is and what class he is, etc. Harry, any guesses? one of the walkon invitees?
  8. MUTS proposed baseball stadium

  10. Selling football tickets in February?...and they are going like Hotcakes? Hummm wonder why....
  11. I was always kind of fond of that Unicorn that used to be on the helmets.
  12. Emerging Sports: An emerging sport is a sport recognized by the NCAA that is intended to provide additional athletics opportunities to female student-athletes. Institutions are allowed to use emerging sports to help meet the NCAA minimum sports-sponsorship requirements and also to meet the NCAA's minimum financial aid awards. For purposes of reviewing emerging sports for women proposals, a sport shall be defined as an institutional activity involving physical exertion with the purpose of competition versus other teams or individuals within a collegiate competition structure. Furthermore, sport includes regularly scheduled team and/or individual, head-to-head competition (at least five) within a defined competitive season(s); and standardized rules with rating/scoring systems ratified by official regulatory agencies and governing bodies. The following are women's emerging sports: Archery Badminton Equestrian Rugby Squash Synchronized Swimming Team Handball
  13. Thanks for the update/info. Good luck to UTA on the Special Events Center. Maybe then UTA/UNT can renew their basketball rivalry. UNT has had a great President in Dr. Pohl who is very pro-athletics but he is leaving soon. I'm concerned about the next guy being as supportive. Our Chancellor seems aloof to me and I'm not sure about his desire to see new heights in much of anything for UNT.
  14. That is sad how far we've fallen.
  15. What's the latest on fundraising for the new UTA gym? Any more talk about bringing football back to campus? I started college at UTA and have always been curious about their athletic direction. They never seemed to break away with their own identity like UTEP has nor found enough of a fan base in Arlington for successful athletics.
  16. Who has been doing the placekicking in practice?
  17. Myopic? I can't even spell myopic.
  18. I agree. A varsity spring sport like baseball is nice but football, and more important football attendance and facilities, is the cash-cow that will make or break our CUSA entry. A football stadium should not be pushed down the food chain.
  19. That shows we still have a long ways to go towards National recognition (despite 4 SBC trophies).
  20. Did their school colors change? There is no red to be found on any of the logos or wordmarks, but orange has been added to several. I'm not fond of the "A" or emphasis on Arlington, looks and sounds too high-schoolish. It's like UTEP going to an "EP" logo.
  21. I'm glad we may get it again, but baseball wasn't a factor for Tulsa, SMUt, and UTEP.
  22. Even more the reason for a push to get into CUSA for us. They would show clips of our games vs UH, SMUt, Rice, UTEP etc.
  23. Video is a need but you could have the whole game available on video ( like the WKU game was) and the major local channels will not show any of it because it was a 25 point loss for UNT and to a team most here have never heard of. Won't happen unless it was against a Big?12 team or local school. Again, it's who we play.
  24. I heard La Tech may be trying to move their game in Denton to 2007. I hope not, we've got a good OOC home slate for once.
