  1. No, you charge $80 a ticket (BCS prices) instead of the regular $15 for the OU home game. Most programs charge according to opponent's desirability. $15 x 30,000 = $450,000 $80 x 30,000 = $2,400,000 Give OU a $1 Million to come to Fouts and we still make $1.4 Mil.
  2. "...in conjunction with the Dec. 22 I-AA championship, which will become the "Division I football championship." Shouldn't that now become the Subdivision I football playoff championship? Make up their minds!
  3. That is a failure of coaching to make during-game adjustments and take advantage of what a defense is giving you. You know teams will defense us for run first, it's obvious (to some anyway) that you need a counter for a stacked line. Doh!
  4. "Following his four-year stint at NAU, Kragthorpe became the offensive coordinator at North Texas in 1994, spending two years with the Mean Green. At North Texas, he coordinated an offense that led the conference in total offense. While there, he coached quarterback Mitch Maher who broke single-season school records for passing yards and total offense." Before Dickey was hired I believe Kragthorpe was asked if he would apply for the opening. He was at A&M then as an assistant and declined. Thus, ..oh, never mind, you know the rest....
  5. humm..... 1965 Skelly Stadium was enlarged to 40,235 seats. The track was removed, the field lowered and box seats added. The excavated dirt was used to support the new south end zone stands. Seating was added to the west stands plus a new two story press box, escalator and elevator.
  6. Skelly Stadium's official capacity now is only 35,000. It had been 40K until they tore down the north endzone seats for an athletic center in Feb. 2005. Top crowds listed before then were 40-47K. Skelly Stadium bio and photo
  7. humm....well, at least it's not 65-0, but it's not 27-24 either.
  8. Sounds like he was being pressured out and he jumped at a good opportunity, although at 1/4 the salary.
  9. OU opens 2007 vs. North Texas
  10. 2006-07 Nebraska men's basketball schedule exhibition vs. Belhaven on Dec. 28? exhibition vs. Cameron again on Nov. 10

  12. "Orsini wouldn't reveal what the violation was, other than to say it was secondary and that all violations are taken seriously." Rhett Bomar called SMUt officials last spring from OU without permission to ask them some ethics and athlete employment questions.
  13. ..at least that part, yes. Wouldn't you like to hear him say: "SMUt is just a bunch of worthless f-ers....!"
  14. I believe the game is at 6pm Saturday in Akron. You could also drive to Canton, only about 15 miles away, before the game Saturday to see the Pro Football Hall of Fame too. Total Air, Taxes & Fees $234.20 - 1Adult one stop in DTW Fri, Sep 22 Depart: 3:55pm Dallas/Ft Worth,TX (DFW) Arrive: 10:22pm Akron/Canton,OH (CAK) Northwest Airlines Flight696 / Flight3725 Sun, Sep 24 Depart: 1:28pm Akron/Canton,OH (CAK) Arrive: 5:09pm Dallas/Ft Worth,TX (DFW) Northwest Airlines Flight5825 / Flight697
  15. I'd like to hear Dickey talk about opponents like he does fans.
  16. What is the status/use of the old men's gym "snakepit"? Could it be updated and used for a dedicated indoor practice basketball-only facility? Or do they want to build something new and multi-court at Eagle Point? Baseball would be nice too. But the Big Dog in college sports as far as image, revenue and conference reallignments is and always will be Football. While Fouts is currently serviceable, it has limited physical and mechanical life left. The faster we replace it with a more fan-friendly and true 1-A venue capable of hosting larger programs, then the faster all other sports will reap the benefits of increased revenue and perhaps a better conference to compete in.
  17. Very wishful thinking. It's the missing Keystone of the whole program. I hope for an update about this Saturday (sure). Are we even actively seeking any donors to this project? I've heard nothing about it in well over a year. New Stadium = CUSA
  18. Too funny. I love it when a BCS or especially a Big?12 school gets caught. As one fan suggested: DEATH PENALTY for OU!
  19. Thus my asking of earlier questions; for those who questioned the questions.
  20. Yes, what he said. P.S. - I received the info anyway from a GMG friend.
  21. What's the scoop, since we can't renew?
  22. We will continue to be thought of as small school (not in size, but stature) until we beat some big time schools.
  23. I started at UTA in 1976 and a new arena was an issue and need back then; it was slated for the South 40 parking lot then too. As mentioned, greater needs for academic buildings and budget cuts always got in the way, then the downsizing of Athletics later killed any momentum for an arena. "The Stage" is an interesting place to watch a basketball game, but I agree dangerous and embarrassing. Any moment you expect a musical or theater act to break out.
  24. Green Grenade mentioned the other day an idea he had for the Cookout on the AC deck. Roll the portable practice goal posts to the spot they will be in the new stadium. Mow the field and mark the yard line stripes and endzones off to show fans/donors where someday(?) our new Stadium and Field will be and how it will look from the deck. Not a bad idea from GG. Will it happen, probably not.
  25. Exactly. Judge DD's record by his games against other-than-SBC 1-A teams and you get the real picture how we stacked up against our so-called peers. 7-38.
