  2. Good point. Is this also where the HS all-star is to be played that he was to coach in? That will be some good PR for NT too as it is a National TV game.
  3. A coordinator at a quality program like that is a good hire. And perhaps he was their recruiter for DFW/Texas? Dodge is not going to waste a hire on a person he doesn't think will contribute something good to NT. There are hundreds of coaches that would love to get an assistants job at a 1-A program; I trust TD to know who he wants from the start.
  4. Mean Green Blog January 03, 2007 A few notes on the UNT men Jonathan Jackson is still hobbling around on a bad knee and didn't practice on Tuesday, which is not good news for the Mean Green. Jackson, 6-8, 240, is another big body the Mean Green could throw at Arkansas-Little Rock forward Rashad Jones-Jennings on Thursday. The senior is a rebounding machine who always gives UNT fits. Late word out of Little Rock on Tuesday indicated that sophomore guard De'Andre Eggins was planning on meeting with head coach Steve Shields soon and could be back in time for the UNT game. That would be bad news for the Mean Green. Eggins is one of UALR's top scorers and would give the Trojans a lift heading into Thursday's game against the Mean Green. UNT was supposed to play the Hilltoppers on Saturday, but never made it to Kentucky due to the weather. The conference will likely want the game played due to the importance of the conference standings when it comes to seeing for the league tournament at the end of the year. 5. Perhaps they should offer the Boise coach instead?
  6. I believe Evans had applied for the A$M-Kingsville HC job, but they recently hired someone else.
  7. What has Harbaugh done besides lure a recruit from one private school to another? Stanford is not what I would call a hard sell. The kid may be from California? Dodge will do fine at UNT. He need not win 10 games his first year to prove it. It will take a while to un-DD the current players and fans. Ticket sales, public relations, team discipline, offensive excitement, etc. will be his first positive doings.
  8. Great to hear, thanks.
  9. If we eventually win like Southlake...let 'em!
  10. All these coaches can stay in their same homes and not disrupt their families too. Has to be a major consideration for some.
  11. Boise/OU was certainly the most entertaining Bowl. It also had a LOT of underlying importance for mid-major vs. big program.
  12. I think it's excellent he brings his coordinators and former coaches with him. That's much less time to make a playbook and develop a program when all already know the terminology and techniques and have previously worked together. Good move.
  13. I would love to see Dodge open up against OU with one of those trick plays Boise used, or even fake it just to rub their noses in it!
  14. Strongly disagree. Troy has limited name recognition, weak basketball and facilities, and is not an easy location to get to.
  15. Wow, what an ending!! I hope TD was taking notes for our game with OU in Sept.
  16. The Bowl years were fun, although trouncing thru the SunBelt allowed a false sense of invulnerability with some of our fans. We saw in the '03 and '04 Bowl games how undersized we were and how athletic other mid-majors could be. I could have lived without enduring the '05 and '06 seasons, except the SMUt win was nice. The Dodge hire has re-energized the fanbase to where it should have been a couple years ago. I hope we take advantage of this positive time to push hard for a new stadium as well. Strike while the fire is hot!
  17. Good stuff, thanks!
  18. As I understood it, the initial stadium concept was to have the suite/pressbox level at walkin level, thus eliminating the need for a ton of elevators and expense. However that also elimated the ability to have a large seating area below the suite level and the need to put more seats above. While I agree it is best to have a single level of stands (see Utah's stadium), this will have to be balanced by the cost of moving the pressbox and suites higher. We either dig lower (can this be done with the water table there?) or build suites and elevators higher. I'm also in favor of having as few endzone seats as possible. I'd rather have upper deck (sideline) seats than endzone seats anytime.
  19. Wow; a little hard hitting for Vito, great! I like his attitude in this article. A lot of things may be changing.
  20. I only knew that because Craig James and Stratford beat Plano in the State final his senior year...then went on to SMUt...double grrrrrrrr.
  21. How? Sell season tickets and start the Stadium Campaign!
  22. Craig James played at Houston Stratford. His son may have played at Celina.
