The last time we beat Tech was in 1999, 8 seasons ago. They were not a good team either then and promptly fired Spike Dykes after that season. The great? Cincy we beat in 2002 finished 7-7. Baylor WAS a bad team in 2003, and beat us with basically the same team the next season 37-14. SMUt is, well, SMUt. Yes, we beat a Top 110 team. Big deal.

I wouldn't bash Kent State too much, they beat Akron by 22 points the week before. That's the same Akron that beat Dickey by 20 points. Thus it appears North Texas would be about 31 point underdogs to that lame Temple program! style_emoticons/

NT should do the same thing NOW and give the fans some relief and hope for the future. Name Kenny Evans as interim head coach since he's already assistant head coach. Reassign DD and RF to other duties for the remainder of their contracts or until they get hired elsewhere. That's probably the biggest knock on his coaching style, inflexible, and not able to adapt to the changing college game. A Run offense today is not easily successful. I think he found out this year what a mobile QB can do for his system, but his system is too predictable and it doesn't really matter if the QB can run or not (unless you're playing SMUt).

Sure, a name head coach would command $$. But would an up and coming assistant turn down $200K to coach a 1-A team and build his name up? (1-A for the sake of hiring purposes). And couldn't any new coach do as good a job as what we have now? "I've seen the enemy, and it is our current system!"

The real games are now over for this season, except for La Tech. I'm sorry I paid $9.95 to watch that mess. My son and wife laughed at me that I wanted to watch a NT game on streaming video, or that I wanted to watch a NT game period... Back to DD's FantasyLand....the SBC....Let the pretend 1-A teams and games begin!

Fine, keep him on the payroll until the contract ends, but does it have to be as head football coach? Why can't he be "reassigned to other duties" within the Athletic Department like Matt Simon was? Make him head of alumni relations or stadium greeter or something else.

I actually remember driving from Denton back towards Dallas after a NT basketball game and thought about going to the 2nd half of this game until I heard the lopsided score then turned it off and went on home.
