Will DD get fired at the end of the season
NT80 replied to UNT_playmaker's topic in Mean Green Football
It's either the coach leaves and the fans stay or the coach stays and the fan$ leave. Which way do they want it? -
It's going to take one certain person to get tired of it too for any change to happen. Perhaps you should interview him...RV.

Will we ever get any answers to these questions?

Decent? 41-60? Not even an average coach (.500). We can do much better, don't settle! style_emoticons/ -
There better be more than just rumblings.

We don't have a lot of deep-pocket donors, but we do have a lot of small donors that get turned off quickly when said University turns a deaf ear to them. I won't throw bad money after good if it's not appreciated and if I don't agree with the decisions made with it; and I certainly won't increase it during those events, that's stupid to think people would when mistreated. Bottom line is the University better pay attention to those 1000 small donors as much as they do to the few big ones, we're not staying where not wanted!

I still support RV. I remember the Helwig years and they would make anyone appreciate what we have now in terms of gameday experience and overall facilities. But, we do have issues RV needs to work on. I believe all current head coaches except for soccer have overall losing records. This needs addressed, especially in the major sports (BB, FB). We have fallen behind many mid-majors. Also, I would like to see better and more frequent communication with the fans. Build a new football stadium, get us into CUSA, start baseball, and have Top 25 programs in football and basketball and I'll be happy. That's all it takes. -
DRC FB 05 DB class show potential..Bleil hasn't

Good? We are 2-5 and have allowed at least one TD pass and over 150 yards passing every game this season. UT...3-tds...198-yds. Smu..1-td....159-yds. Tul..2-tds...275-yds. Akn..3-tds...173-yds. Muts.1-td....154-yds. FIU..1-td....248-yds. ASU..1-td....187-yds. -
I'm glad he is able to keep his sense of humor while running the program into the ground.

North Texas a favorite in men’s hoops race

Ya, I can't wait for us to take on those tough Jarvis Christian College and Belhaven squads! -
Totally agree. This is OUR program, not Dickey's. WE want it back!!
-
It all starts and ends with the head guy. The main problem: Dickey is a running-game first coach, and always will be. But he can't recruit properly for it. I don't believe he can adapt his offense to today's college game nor the players he can recruit to his offense. DD has tried to introduce some passing but always falls back to establish the run first. How many 1-A schools still run smash-mouth offenses? Few, and it takes a heck of an OL. The trend is for Spread or Multiple Offenses. Players want to play it, fans want to watch it. Time for a change. Time to take back control of OUR program!

Would you beleive who's on top in the WAC ?
NT80 replied to MeanGreen61's topic in Mean Green Football
If you look at all 6 DD's OOC 1-A wins, most all were classified by those schools as "all time worst losses". One coach was directly fired because of it and at least 2 others were let go the next season and it mentioned. SMUt's Bennett's fate has yet to be determined. -

Idaho beat La Tech 24-14 in Ruston. They were 2-9 last season (sound familiar?). Idaho hires Dennis Erickson this year and are now 3-0 in a conference for the first time since 1999. -
I too had trouble with the TicketMaster site in the summer making some changes to renewals. It finally got straighted out after a month and several conversations with the ticket office. I learned to make any changes directly with the ticket office. I told them and Mandy about the TicketMaster problem and thought it would discourage new members and ticket seekers. I like that potential new fans can get tickets thru TicketMaster but the bugs need to be worked out so it's smooth.

On a similar subject, Tech's Leach on what he thinks about Tech fans (yes, the ones who fund his salary)..... Booing bothers Tech's Harrell but not Leach 01:38 AM CDT on Wednesday, October 11, 2006 By TIM MACMAHON / The Dallas Morning News Quarterback Graham Harrell acknowledged after Saturday's loss to Missouri that it irritated him to be booed at home. Some Tech fans booed when Harrell re-entered the game after sitting out a series in the second quarter. Coach Mike Leach called the boos "just noise." He said he didn't care if fans booed and hoped Harrell would learn to ignore them. "His job description doesn't encompass hearing the boos any more than mine does," Leach said. "You've got work to do. You've got stuff to concentrate on. Who cares what those fellas have to say?"

If you take out the 1-AA OOC wins, it becomes a 6-41 record. Totally Unacceptable!

We could trade them DD and RF! A two-fer!

Garcia also wants to return to Miami as AD in 2010 when their current AD leaves. He needed some actual AD job experience, so this (FIU) location was the perfect spot to intern until the opening at UM. He'll do what he can at FIU but his heart is really at UM.

Tell that to Boise State.

IMO, there have only been a few coaches or Administrators that wanted to "shake things up Athletically" at NT and said so in public. Some did, some did not: 1. Hayden Fry. As coach and AD, not afraid to say NT should be big time and not afraid to ask people for bigger donations. He shook Denton up from his first day. He had great charisma with players and fans alike. None since like him. 2. Dr. Pohl. NT Athletics is the window to the University. Who could have said it better or been a better fan as a school President? You felt he was one of the guys you could go on a road trip with. 3. RV. So positive all the time for the Green; if he only had more money to work with at NT we'd get everything we wanted Athletically. No AD has improved gameday more. My only wish is that he would demand more of coaches and show it, demand more of fans for a New Stadium and better Conference, and return to Quarterly Meetings. 4. Corky Nelson. Wanted to play big name schools and beat many as a 1-AA program. Not the best AD but could motivate an underdog team and fans. 5. Bill Blakeley. Never has a coach been so vocal to refs on a court. Don't get within throwing distance of his coat jacket! He'd never say he was pleased with a loss. Fan favorite and not afraid to play any program. Hosted topranked DePaul with Mark Aguirre and nearly beat them. 5. Vic Trilli. Could talk the talk but couldn't ever walk the walk. Told recruits NT would be in CUSA soon, we're all still waiting. He talked like NT was headed to the Final Four every year, and could recruit the talent for it, but couldn't coach a lick of it. 6. Matt Simon. Give him a Safeway parking lot and he would play anyone, anytime. Wanted better facilities faster than Helwig would give it to him and was fired for continuing to ask.

Old MUTS coach vs. NT = 0 - 5 yrs. New MUTS coach vs. NT = 35 - 0 Note the changing variable in the above equation: Old/New Coach

The last time we beat Tech was in 1999, 8 seasons ago. They were not a good team either then and promptly fired Spike Dykes after that season. The great? Cincy we beat in 2002 finished 7-7. Baylor WAS a bad team in 2003, and beat us with basically the same team the next season 37-14. SMUt is, well, SMUt. Yes, we beat a Top 110 team. Big deal.
-
I wouldn't bash Kent State too much, they beat Akron by 22 points the week before. That's the same Akron that beat Dickey by 20 points. Thus it appears North Texas would be about 31 point underdogs to that lame Temple program! style_emoticons/

NT should do the same thing NOW and give the fans some relief and hope for the future. Name Kenny Evans as interim head coach since he's already assistant head coach. Reassign DD and RF to other duties for the remainder of their contracts or until they get hired elsewhere. Could they screw up the ticket office any worse? ......................................................................................... McNeese replaces Tate as head football coach October 3, 2006 LAKE CHARLES, La. (AP) -- Tommy Tate has been removed as the head football coach at McNeese State and offensive coordinator Matt Viator will take over the program on an interim basis, the school announced Tuesday. "I regret that this has happened during the course of a season," university president Robert Hebert said. "But I believe it is in the best interest of our program." The Cowboys got off to a 1-3 start this season under Tate, the head coach since 2000 and a member of the coaching staff since 1979. Tate finished with a 49-26 record at McNeese, including three straight Southland Conference championships from 2001-03. In 2002, the Cowboys made it to the Division I-AA national championship game, losing to Western Kentucky. Hebert refrained from saying the slow start was the reason for the change. "I guess you can just say we had different philosophies," Hebert said. On Saturday, the Cowboys lost 20-17 to South Dakota State. Their other losses were to I-A teams programs -- 41-10 at South Florida and 41-7 at Toledo -- but McNeese was outscored 55-0 in the fourth quarters of those games. The lone victory this season was 76-0 over West Virginia Tech.
