  1. Humm....Is there an announcement set for next week?
  2. No other place to put a track at the time and UNT still hosts regional state HS track meets. The bleachers were a quick fix to a capacity requirement that had to be met to go 1-A.
  3. 2009 for that first game may be a tight timeline, unless they get started ASAP....
  4. the SLC fans are happy about that....
  5. Along those same lines of promotion, I would like to see us start selling season tickets sooner, like in February. Even if the schedule is not set officially there will be 5 or 6 home games. Charge $75 for a season ticket reserved/bought during the early period, $100 for it later.
  6. The approval is to exceed $500,000 over an entire contract, not $500,000 per year. Don't read too much into this formality, it just makes any negotiations with any potential coach easier when it gets to the salary point. Patience grasshoppers. I'm hearing that we may be hearing about something to hear sometime when there is something to hear about.
  7. It won't officially be out until usually spring. We do open at OU and play at SMUt and host a MAC team and WKU plus the SBC schedule should reverse from this year as far as home/away games.
  8. The head coach sets the dates. DD always liked his finished before spring break started.
  9. A lot of positives now after a gloomy fall: a new football coach soon a new stadium campaign soon men's basketball winning again new UNT Prez seems interested in athletics
  10. Don't you think they also know how to google someone's name? BTW, it's FAMU (Fla. A$M), not FAU.
  11. Besides the huge tenure flap there was the case where he was accused of plagiarism.... "January 20, 2005 Plagiarism in the provost's office UNT Provost Howard Johnson first got himself in hot water this year by changing the exam schedule for a football game. Now he's involved in something a bit more serious: two important university documents were apparently plagiarized from other schools: the academic plan, and the tenure guidelines. An anonymous e-mail obtained by the Daily in December led reporters to the "Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs Promotion and Tenure Checklist." The document was produced by the provost's office and outlines the steps for advancement at NT. Sections of the document were found to be copied directly from a book written by a former professor at Syracuse University. This comes less than a month after Provost Howard Johnson issued a campus-wide e-mail explaining why he copied almost half of his proposed "UNT Academic Plan for Distinctiveness and Excellence" from official documents at five other universities. The president of one of the schools accused the administration of theft and threatened to sue NT if the situation were not resolved. "I drew from a number of best practices and planning documents from across the country to give the academic community at UNT food for thought as it formulated its own vision for the future," Johnson said in the Dec. 21 e-mail. "I did not post attributions for these ideas because I did not want the source of the ideas to unduly influence the discussion." I'd like to know if Johnson intends to accept this as an argument from students accused of plagiarizing now. This kind of behavior is disgraceful."
  12. Why can't the university just terminate him?
  13. If those players are truely interested in UNT then they know we are going thru a coaching change now. Patience grasshoppers!

    Harbaugh

What # interview was he? More to come?
  15. Price confirms his interest in Tulane Tuesday, December 05, 2006 By Fred Robinson Staff writer Texas-El Paso offensive coordinator Eric Price confirmed Monday he has had brief conversations with Tulane Athletic Director Rick Dickson about the vacant Green Wave football coaching position. Price, 40, the son of UTEP Coach Mike Price, has spent the past three seasons as the offensive coordinator for the Miners. "I'm interested in getting involved," Eric Price said while on a recruiting trip in Houston. "I've talked to Rick (Dickson) a couple of times." Price said he is waiting to hear from Dickson. "I feel I'm ready to make the move," Price said. "This is the first time I've actively put my name in the hat. I'm just waiting to hear back." Price is familiar with Dickson. His dad was the football coach at Washington State when Dickson was selected the school's athletic director in 1994. Dickson left for Tulane in December 1999, and Mike Price left for Alabama in 2002. Mike Price, however, never coached the Crimson Tide and became the Miners' coach in 2003. Eric Price followed his father to UTEP, where he has served as the offensive coordinator. Altogether, he has coached seven years with his father. During the 2000-01 seasons, Eric Price was on the New York Jets' coaching staff. Also showing interest in the Tulane job is former Green Wave assistant and current Clemson assistant Ron West. West, Clemson's outside linebackers coach, was on Tommy Bowden's staff at Tulane during the 1997-98 seasons. West said he has not been contacted by Dickson. "I just look at what Tulane offers, and I think Tulane is a great fit. I definitely think it can get back to where we had it. They were close a couple of times," West said of the recently fired Tulane staff. "I think it can be a good place." Besides coaching at Tulane for two seasons, West, 49, coached at Southwestern Louisiana (now Louisiana-Lafayette), Baylor, North Texas and Texas Tech. He has coached offense and defense. FRANK SCELFO IN THE MIX? Former Tulane offensive coordinator Frank Scelfo's name has surfaced as a possible candidate for the North Texas coaching position. Scelfo was with Tulane for 11 years until the firing of Chris Scelfo and the Green Wave staff last week. Frank Scelfo was in charge of Tulane's offense the past seven seasons. When reached Monday afternoon, Scelfo had no comment. Sources said Scelfo was in contact with North Texas Athletic Director Rick Villarreal about the position, although he hasn't formally interviewed. Villarreal did not return a telephone call to his office. The North Texas job opened nearly two weeks ago when Darrell Dickey was fired after nine seasons at the Denton, Texas, school. Dickey had an overall record of 42-64 and had guided the Mean Green to four appearances in the New Orleans Bowl. However, back-to-back losing seasons prompted Villarreal to make a move. Dickey's team was 3-9 this season and 2-9 in 2005.
  16. Harbaugh talking to Tulane, N. Texas UNION-TRIBUNE December 6, 2006 The latest stop on the Jim Harbaugh national job interview tour this week was New Orleans, where the USD football coach met with Tulane officials concerning the school's vacant head coaching job, according to sources with knowledge of that search. Next on the docket is an interview today for the vacant job at North Texas, according to sources. Tulane is looking for a replacement for Chris Scelfo, who was fired last month after eight years there. North Texas is looking for a replacement for Darrell Dickey, who was fired last month after nine seasons in Denton. The opening at Stanford, created by the firing of Walt Harris, has been speculated as another possible interview stop for Harbaugh, a Palo Alto High graduate. Harbaugh, who just completed his third season with USD, is prevented by the terms of his contract from commenting on his candidacy for other jobs. His agent, Jack Bechta, also has declined comment. Last month, Harbaugh interviewed for the then-vacant job at Iowa State. – BRENT SCHROTENBOER
  17. Reneau said the company would look at both structure and dollar figures on what it will take to make the university competitive with other schools in the Western Athletic Conference or Conference USA. “I believe the bottom line will be the money,” Reneau said. DUH! Tech wants a Big12 program on a High School budget. Can't be done. And if you've ever been to Ruston the local term Rust-On the campus is very accurate. Good luck with 1/10 of any funding and upgrades they hope to make.
  18. From DRC today.... "Davis working way back into shape Kendrick Davis has removed the bandages from his left hand and wrist and could return to UNT's lineup by the end of the month, Mean Green head coach Johnny Jones said Tuesday."
  19. Where is Tim McM when we need him to find out what's really going on. Vito is just frosting, no cake.
  20. That was a good game.
  21. Tell Bama's Crimson Tide or Nebraska's Big Red about that.
  22. I was not happy that DD had never been a HC, and I was VERY not happy that he was coming from SMUt.
  23. Simon went to the NFL as asst coach with Baltimore Ravens. I think he was let go before this season.
  24. Gators Prez To Push For Playoff (Main Board) posted by ManzanoWolf , Albuquerque Metro, 12-05-2006, 14:12, from 68.35.31.49 Found this on another board and thought you guys might be interested: A gray-haired 62-year-old with a master's degree in pediatric dentistry and a doctorate in educational psychology normally wouldn't come off as the most powerful person on a football field. But here was Bernie Machen, president of the University of Florida, moments after his Gators won the SEC championship Saturday at the Georgia Dome, throwing out the most important bit of news of the college football weekend – he is going to fight for a new championship season. "We need a playoff," Machen said . . . Machen perhaps is the most powerful person ever to make that statement, let alone promise to champion its cause. Playoffs need a proponent, and it can't come from the coaching ranks or the media. It can't be a simple fan or even a television executive waving billions in broadcast rights. This thing has to be changed from within, and that means president to president, Ph.D. to Ph.D. He told The Gainesville Sun he already has discussed playoff ideas with Florida State president T.K. Wetherell, who has also recently pledged support. For more go here: http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaaf/news;_ylt=Am...=yhoo&type=lgns
