The reward(?) with our funding is that we are stuck in the SunBelt Conference. :-(

Maybe he can kick too? I'm a little concerned about our placekicking position.

To give ULL a chance to set up a play?
-
I wondered if he would be recruited for another position. TD must be happy with the way things have turned out lately. Got college HC job without moving, wins state title with son, son named player of year, signed quality recruiting class, meets President in Oval Office, son gets ship to his alma mater, ....what's next?
-
It's better than him signing with SMUt or the Froggies. He could be a junior before he ever takes a snap with uT.
-
Let's at least get through Spring Practice before we start buying Bowl tickets.

Jetblue Meltdown
NT80 replied to JayDub's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
There are many factors in aircraft delays involving weather. With freezing precipitation, this usually involves de-icing an aircraft before it can depart. With some forms of freezing precip, airlines cannot de-ice them and they cannot depart until it stops. In de-icing, an aircraft taxies to a de-icing station, usually an out-of-the way ramp area. This process to de-ice takes from 20-30 minutes per aircraft, depending on size of the plane. Then, there is limited time in which the plane must takeoff or it will need de-iced again, usually less than an hour depending on the de-ice mixture. That's only the mess at the departure airport ramp. Then there are delays for snow removal from taxiways and runways, and closed or non-priority runways that restrict arrival/departure rates. FAA's traffic management unit is quick to stop departure traffic if an arrival airport has weather problems and restricted arrival rates. Many times airlines get the delay scoop before the tower controllers do. Sometimes it's a circus to make it all work. -
I like the new Green and look of the new basketball and track (pictured) uniforms, trimmed with black and white. Sort of a Marshall look. I hope the new football unis are sharp as well: http://www.meangreensports.com/ViewArticle...p;ATCLID=803431

from DMN: A state rep is drafting a bill that would realign Angelo State University with Texas Tech University. A group of ASU boosters met with Gov. Rick Perry this week to ask that the school be taken out of the Texas State University System. TTU-San Angelo?

I assume by travel time you mean for away games. Hank normally wouldn't be entertaining potential donors to away games anyway. RV is usually at home basketball games in his courtside seats, many times by himself. I'm sure he would be happy to escort Hank's next big donor to the game. Come on, give them some credit for knowing how to handle a potential donor. It's not like there is ten millionaires coming thru the door every day wanting to see a JJ home game with Hank or else they're taking their money to SMUt. Geez.
-
It was mentioned when this fundraising firm was hired last fall that results would be back to NT in mid-January (2007). Shortly after mid-January the $1.5 stadium donation was announced officially at the basketball game as a kickoff for the new stadium. Coincidence? I think the fundraising campaign is further along than just the "what-if" phase.

Another meltdown last night at home to a 14-14 team. One SBC coach this season said UNT has the most athletic conference team, which further leads me to believe it's the coaching failing us. Reminds me of another UNT basketball coach recently that could recruit but not do Xs and Os. When does spring football begin?
-
Hank is not the only fundraiser in the Athletic Department. I'm sure a major donor will get the attention he needs, chill.
-
Hank does a great job on the broadcasts and we are lucky to have a quality broadcast team like Hank & George. Just listen to some other school's radio guys sometime (try Smut's for a real laugh) and you'll see how fortunate we are.
-
I thought the best news from Hanks report was the initial stadium size now appears to be 40K instead of 32K as in the original plans. I believe the funding is closer than some think and I expect to hear about a definite time line and lower-$-donor campaign this spring. Judging by all the "new stadium" talk the NT administration is mentioning in the past 6 months it appears to be on the top of RV's to-do list. Placing baseball on the back burner until the new football stadium happens also says it's a priority. Fouts has limited life left as a structure before costly renovations are needed. This will help push the issue.

Dodge Story I Promised Told By Hank Dickenson
NT80 replied to MeanGreengdub's topic in Mean Green Football
It only makes sense to recruit DFW-area kids. It's more local advertising for UNT in the area papers and makes inroads to the local high schools for general student recruitment. Local players also attract local family and friends to NT games. If you google the name "Todd Dodge" you'll find 39,700 entries! An interesting column about Dodge's near electrocution: http://www.theoldcoach.com/archives/000628.php -
AD's are not normally groomed to replace another. There are AD searches conducted just like for coaches when one leaves. And who is to say Hank won't leave before RV? He almost got the AD job at A$M-CC last year.

Then it's built by the same company that built SLC's because it was on Carroll's "google" page. Check out the likeness to these "real" Carroll Stadium photos.... http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=htt...l%3Den%26sa%3DN
