Normally not a fan of the Black unis, but the Green pants add just the right splash of color. I think these are also an attempt to mimic Army's uniforms a bit...

There is a fine line with some coaches of being in control vs running up the score. I don't see Ross having us over 100 in a game anytime soon. We also need to empty the bench and get the other guys some floor time. Mavs did this last night for the final 5-7 minutes of the game. It was fun to see the newer guys show off a little.

Yes, we had several players injured last game, QB, RB, receiver, etc. I doubt we hear much about any player status until Vito breaks any bad news pre-game. Same for Army with their starting QB. Coaches don't share much before a game.

I would hope we have a solid showing against Wayland without playing any starters. These non-Dl games are good to work on team chemistry I guess. It has to be hard for players to keep their intensity up once the game is 20+ points.

It could be a great win, become Bowl eligible, and energize our fans for the stretch run of the season! Or, just more false hope.....

A nice Mean Green basketball shoutout from Mavs announcer Mark Followill tonight in the 4th period. He was commenting on the Mavs being up nearly 30 on the Bulls. He said he saw the Mean Green up 29 on Evansville last night. Almost a half minute of UNT basketball media. Good advertising for us!

Post-Practice (11/5) Video Interview: ARMY OC Cody Worley
NT80 posted a topic in Mean Green Football
On Tuesday, the Black Knights return to the practice field as they continue in prep mode for their upcoming Saturday opponent, North Texas. Army will take their potent offense, which leads the nation in rushing at 340.1 Yards Per Game. Following yesterday’s practice, Offensive Coordinator Cody Worley met with the media... -
Interesting topic. But I wonder if fatigue in the second half plays a part in the poorer shooting then? Ross and a player mentioned the team being winded in the second half last night (1/7 from 3).

Mean Green Beat Evansville 80-63 In Season Opener
NT80 replied to Dannymacfan's topic in Mean Green Basketball
I still have concerns about our interior offense/defense. Evansville got 40% of their points in the paint (26 of 63), mostly guards/forwards driving to the basket -

Aces battle to the finish in season opener https://gopurpleaces.com/news/2024/11/5/mens-basketball-aces-battle-to-the-finish-in-season-opener.aspx

Yes, there were only 11 Division I men's games scheduled last night for a reason.

First half was great and dominating. 3's were falling easy, but we had difficulty working it down low. Second half was lazy and ragged. Almost like Ross told them to give Evansville some confidence before they go home. Lots to work on overall. Sissoko is a big body but still has not improved his shooting touch or ball handling much. No apparent backup yet. We are in trouble down low in bigger games. Stone tries and hustles, but I'd like to see other options for his minutes on the floor.

Yes, obviously you can't play all 15 players every game. But a player like Brock Vice, the #32 ranked center in the country in 2022-23, saw no game time last season at Creighton. He's not coming to UNT to sit another full year on the bench, otherwise he will be back in the Portal.

Army star QB Bryson Daily to miss game vs. Air Force
NT80 replied to NT80's topic in Mean Green Football
I hope he plays. We want no excuses because the backup had to play. -
The context was total schedule. You haven't played anyone with a winning record like a Texas Tech, Memphis or Tulane... or NT.
-
Players that aren't contributors are more likely to just hit the Portal again than just wait till their time and develop. It's really difficult for coaches now to keep all roster players happy about their roles and return the next season.

Memphis's Tyreek Smith Hits Portal Hours Before Opener

What that says is that Army controls the clock and the game by long drives and clock-running plays. Opponent's offense doesn't get on the field enough to keep up.

We have played a much tougher schedule than Army. Who have they beat that we couldn't beat?? vsLehigh W42-7 @FAU W24-7 vsRice W37-14 @Temple W42-14 @Tulsa W49-7 vsUAB W44-10 vsEast Carolina W45-28 vsAir Force W20-3
