Sources: UConn, Big 12 in early talks for potential membership
NT80 replied to NT80's topic in Mean Green Football
Both UConn men and women's basketball teams are elite and have been National Champs, multiple times. Memphis has been to the NCAA Final Four 3 times, but no championships. They did win the NIT in 2002 and 2021. They also vacated wins in some seasons and have been on probation several times. Memphis is a smaller media population of about 650K. I'm sure UConn being fairly close to NYC would be considered to draw their media. Memphis football > UConn football. Guess it depends on what market and area a conference is trying to cover. -
New Bomber Jacket Rollout from Homefield

I have seen it in white on other apparel... -
These feel-good games against marginal teams is just a record padding. I'd rather see us play at least similar competition; same for basketball.

North Texas vs South Alabama Prediction Thread
NT80 replied to jtm0097's topic in Mean Green Football
I hope this is not another FIU-like road game. QB Morris must stay healthy for the Offense. The Defense is still an experiment in progress. Too many "ifs" at this point of the season until we see real performance. I predict a slow sluggish start and a $mut comeback to win... NT 37-34. -
From the S. Alabama Fan Forum... "Weather forecast for Saturday: 50% chance of rain early to midday, 94 at kickoff. Definitely going to be steamy." Game thread... https://247sports.com/college/south-alabama/board/59456/contents/game-week-north-texas-235124956/?page=1

Not sure why they had to put the NT in yellow? NT in White would show up much better on that logo, plus yellow is not a school color. -

Our basketball, as good as we think it is or could be, would never get to the level of us being a P4 basketball-only invite. Cincy and Houston both had some really good basketball teams over the years, yet it was their combined good football, and locations, that won them invites to the Big12. They would not have been basketball-only invites either. An overall good athletic program (especially football) is the best formula for any move up potential to the P4. Otherwise, I am intrigued by the P2, best of the MWC and best of the AAC combination. I would hope we could be a part of that conversation if it shows potential. If not, then lets work on stealing Air Force and Colo. St to the AAC! -

You can never go wrong with the Flying Worm, fits perfect on the helmet. Easy branding and makes the players faster and ready for contact!

I'm no fan of the "wings and tailfeathers only" helmet either. Put the Full eagle on there or change the mascot. Would $mut put only the rear end of a Pony on their helmet? Yes, they should, lol. Oregon has the trademark on feather helmets....

Big12 wants their basketball, but not all their athletics (especially their pitiful football). UConn has probably countered with an all-or-none. I doubt it gets agreed to. -
A lucky 5-point win over a 2-10 team last year. You were favored by 30. You could easily be 2-10 this year with that slop, lol.

The UTA AD and administrators said the same thing when they were justifying dropping football. Their basketball is still the same, lame. No change in 30 years even being the spotlight primary sport now with additional funding and a new arena. Football drives the bus with donors and is the basis for realignment invites. It gets the majority of media coverage for a college. It always has. -

It's totally about Big 12 Commissioner Brett Yormark wanting their elite basketball programs. He earlier had floated the idea of UConn and Gonzaga as basketball-only schools, but I guess it fell thru. The article mentions it'a not near a done deal and several schools have pushed back against it, probably because of their poor football. Perhaps UConn made a counter offer for all-sports and time to get their football in shape? -
I heard from a fan friend that attended the show that Coach Morris took some of the football team to watch/support the gals soccer game, so he missed the show. The OC and DC talked instead and he said they were very good.

"The addition would be for all sports, and the delay to 2031 in football would in theory give UConn a chance to catch up to be more prepared to join the league at that time in terms of funding and a talent upgrade through NIL. The other sports, including UConn's dominant basketball programs, would be added whenever UConn could negotiate or wait out the 27-month waiting period to exit the league." https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/story/_/id/40968712/uconn-big-12-early-talks-potential-membership

I like the best of G5 merger idea, but that gets tricky with exit fees and shopping for new media rights deals. Any new realignment will be Brand vs Media location. Is being a Brand better or a school's location better as a quality? Brand's can change over time as coaches and players leave and strong teams are no longer strong. Location can't change but a school's impact on that location varies. We are a perfect example of being in a huge population area, and great recruiting area, but not taking advantage of either really.
-
Football is totally about finding a quality QB, and keeping them healthy. Then they transfer or graduate and you start over again, or you fail if you don't find one as in Littrell's case.
-
I will certainly acknowledge he had the program on the right track...until... he didn't take the K-State job and Mason Fine graduated, then all the air just went out. He couldn't find a new QB and never get over the hump of winning a conference title or Bowl game. But he was a good .500 coach.
-
It was a typical Seth ending; a summary to his whole time at NT....Big buildup full of expectations, then failure to finish Big games and Bowls.
-
It's a stupid goal and low bar to set. It implies minimal expectation, effort and confidence in players and our program.

Who can say "herosports.com" is even in the Top 40 of ranking services? It's all just a guess. -

Anyone know where I can find this exact shirt?

Similar style logo, t-shirt, sweatshirt, and hoodie option; but I have never used this site..... https://teeshirtsherpa.shop/product/north-texas-state-benchmark-sweatshirt-2550665/?gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAjwoJa2BhBPEiwA0l0ImCRZCdkaFk6TNGMMn2dlp8a9HqGnySgl67MKWnyMOYjNoeBVfamM9xoCGpQQAvD_BwE
