PAC with 7 members still needs to add another football school to be a legit conference. Their biggest gains were Boise, SDSU and Gonzaga. The MWC got gutted and had to find low-hanging fruit to refill. The best (strongest) result for both is still to merge it all.

Yes, crazy. But NIU has been out West in a conference before... Northern Illinois has played 39 seasons in the MAC over two stints from 1975 to 1985 and since 1997. It was in the Big West Conference in football from 1993 to 1995 and operated as an independent from 1986 to 1992, as well as in 1996.

I saw Fritz Von Erich wrestle there back in the 70's when it was the Mens Gym. I knew it had a capacity of around 5000 once. We played a UNT men's game there about 10? years ago for some confliction reason.

You can never have enough QBs, or any position player for that matter in this era. With injury and portal it's just good to have as many options as you can for a long season. You may need any and all backups in a Bowl.

It's even more that way now with most of the players being just contracted employees rather than loyal and committed to the program.

This was only Texas State's second ever Bowl game, after their last year's same game. Of course they show up...it's still new to them. It reminds me when we had 4 straight New Orleans Bowls. We felt like we were Big 12 ready. Also, we ended our season 1-5 and lost our starting QB and best receiver for the game to NIL and Portal. That cost us easily 5,000 more fans.

Arizona State and $mut and every fan of a team that was an underdog in a game could say this. The outcome may have been expected, but it wasn't sealed until the final 30 seconds of the game. The storylines were the best part of our game. ESPN put an article about it on their main page.

Competitive performance could have been improved with more live game reps during the season for Mestemaker, which is the fault of the coaches. There were several times we had large leads or Chandler was gimpy and Mestemaker could have played longer. Also for in case CM bailed on us in the portal before a Bowl...duh. With both Rogers and CM leaving us after one season, I hope this has opened coaches eyes. Give backup QBs and other players more live reps when able during the season.

Our Bowl was a loss, as most here thought it would be, because of the players that left. But because of the players that stayed it was an exciting game, better than most believed it could be. And the side story of our new, inexperienced QB gained us extra National media. We got a month of extra practice for the team and found a surprise player.

The men's gym is not as nice or as much seating as this. It would take some renovation $$. I don't see it happening.

We were behind after the first quarter. In trying to stay pace our passing was more effective for quick offense.

WE all care about the direction of NT Athletics or we wouldn't be on here,,,, well, except for Cougar Q, Smut2006, et al. AS fans we want wins and something positive to show upward direction. It's hard to find positive with many losses but we did better yesterday than most would have thought.... being 14 point dogs and losing a starting QB and receiver. The portal needs fixed or tossed completely. Binding contracts need to happen with players.
