Thanks so much for passing this along, fauouwls44! Hopefully they'll do a better job than our Mean Green Premium service usually does...that we have to pay for. You never know what you are going to get, quality wise. Thanks again!! Hopefully we're in for a good game today.

North Texas: Maligned Defense Rises To The Occasion
UNT 90 Grad replied to mgsteve's topic in Mean Green Football
I wondered the same thing. -
One of mine too. But I suppose we might be a bit biased since it was the helmet logo when we were attending the University. Say, is that Charlie Banks' helmet on the left? Dodge's drug testing has brought back fond memories of Coach "Straight Arrow" Gennero.

So I'm lying there donating blood today and notice that the Phlebologist has a UT ornament on his lanyard. (I instantly and unfairly think "UT douche".) I asked if he was doing okay after the TTU loss, to which he said he didn't get to see the game. He then notices I'm wearing a North Texas shirt and have a UNT lanyard on. He asks if I work for the University or just a fan. I explained that I'm a fan, alumni, and season ticket holder. To my surprise (again, unfairly), he responded by saying "what a great school to have season tickets to". He proceeds to tell me about how he has a buddy that had season tickets to the TCU games last year. He approached him about going to a TCU game with him, but the buddy said he wasn't using the tickets because he wanted to go to the UNT/Navy game instead. The friend said he thought North Texas does tailgating up right and better than any other school in the area. That's why he wanted to go to the UNT game. The Phlebologist and the friend wound up going to the UNT/Navy game and he said he had so much fun that he could hardly remember the game. I get excited when I hear we are doing things that attract new fans to our football program, especially those that don't even have any sort of affiliation with the school or Denton. Makes me proud. We need more North Texas Douches.

I noticed when going for it on fourth and one, Miami gave the ball to none other than Patrick Cobbs for the successful conversion in their 26 - 17 win over Denver today. That's a vote of confidence in Cobbs from the Dolphins in my book. He didn't get a lot of touches though. He was 1 - 1 rushing and 1 - 14 receiving. http://www.miamidolphins.com/newsite/news/...asp?docid=38388

Just noticed that the win bumped us up 23 spots in the Sagarin ratings. I didn't want to bring this up last week, but according to this scale, we were ranked worse than any of the teams in our former FCS affiliation, the Southland Conference. Not the case any more. I look forward to how far we bump up after next week's WIN! Go Mean Green!

Please, Lets Stop The Negative Stuff
UNT 90 Grad replied to Green Dozer's topic in Mean Green Football
Yes! Let's take the momentum of Dodge's first road win into the University's first ever win over FAU! I wanna see Schnellenberger's mustache wilt. This isn't the FAU of the past couple years. Go Mean Green! -
I followed this logic last night and had the DVR set to 4 hours of recording. I looked at my watch when the live game ended and thought this was plenty of time to archive the entire game. Unfortunately, 4 hours didn't account for the fact that the Mavericks post game show would go over leading to the Ch. 21 game broadcast starting even later than 10pm. The DVR cut off with 21 freakin' seconds left in the game. Thank goodness for ESPN 360. I watched the game live online and can still watch the end online.

Except that we went to the New Orleans Bowl the season after Smith died. The downward spiral started after Scott Hall graduated. Speaking of Smith's death, I wonder if the circumstances around his death have come up in Dodge led locker room discussions of late.

I like the idea, but I'm not sure what type of vote of confidence we are giving the team if we have the ceremonial last touchdown before the game starts.
-
You bet. Let's also put some plans in place to encourage them to come out to the games and see where the money will be going. We could have hippie races at half time to win free text books or something like that. Maybe get their help in constructing hemp seat backs for our GREEN stadium. Nothing against hippies. I was around during the 60's. (barely)

Has Anyone Else Figured This Out?
UNT 90 Grad replied to UNT_playmaker's topic in Mean Green Football
I can't believe anyone would accuse Dr. B of not being an athletic supporter! (I couldn't resist.) Seriously, I've seen her at every football game I've been to, home and away, and heard her speak to alumni and the media on the football program. She seems to be very pro athletics in her words. I will say her detailed knowledge of the game may be suspect, but that is probably true of many folks in her demographic...not to stereotype, I'm just sayin'. I would be shocked to hear someone like her talking X's and O's. -
Fw Startlegram Story On Truman Spencer
UNT 90 Grad replied to flyeater's topic in Mean Green Football
"It’s a helpless feeling for a punter when you’re losing," said Spencer, who also played safety in high school. "I wish there was something more I could do. But I’ve got to focus on my job and do the best I can do for the team. All I can do is try to pin ’em deep." At 6-3 and 220 lbs, it would be nice if he could out run the rest of the team down field and do something about the punt coverage issues we've had. If so, we could get him a cape with a big "S" on the back. ("S" for Spencer?) -
Good News Would Have Leaked My Now
UNT 90 Grad replied to MeanGreenZen's topic in Mean Green Football
I love following and rooting for UNT football and I hate to think about what a no vote will do to the morale of the athletes, coaches, and the A.D. I think Rick has done a lot of great things since he's been here and I hope his vision for this program doesn't change if the athletic fee doesn't pass. I'd hate to lose him. If it doesn't pass, we should contract Dodge to take his football recruiting expertise and put together a plan to recrute better students of the university. -
I wonder if the sample size selected was based on the high quality / low error margin standards of WBAP and the NT Daily.

According to the Tickets and Admissions section in the Game Day @ North Texas flyer, "Children of all ages are required to have tickets, except infants in arms." https://admin.xosn.com/pdf4/142812.pdf?&...;DB_OEM_ID=1800

If it's a no vote look for a big stale turd in the parking lot West of the Super Pit...for a long time to come.

Unt Asks Students To Have Faith In Future
UNT 90 Grad replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
We do need a new stadium regardless of the teams record, but to our friend from Arkansas' point, the current state of the program emphasises the need even further. We need everything we can get our hands on that will attract the best recruits possible to add further depth and support to what Dodge is building at UNT. I don't agree with Vito's spin on "faith". We don't need to have faith in the future of the team in order to justify a new stadium. We have faith that a new stadium will help justify for some hot shot to pick North Texas over other institutions he may have knocking on his door. -
I'll bet that's an A/C unit, since it has windows in the trailer.

Wow. That's sharp!

Reminder : Another Belt Game On The Duece 2nite
UNT 90 Grad replied to NT03's topic in Mean Green Football
I say yes...GO OWLS. (Tonight anyway.) My heart says root for Troy, but my noggin says root for FAU. If there is a fraction of an ounce of a chance for UNT this year, we should root for that chance. -
Without Looking At The Score
UNT 90 Grad replied to SCREAMING EAGLE-66's topic in Mean Green Football
I remember checking the stats on my CrackBerry as early as half time and noticed we were outdoing FIU statistically. I don't think the reserves went in until the 4th quarter. I think the real difference was field position starting drives. Of the 6 touchdowns scored by FIU, only 2 were on drives that even started in their own territory. Check out this link: http://scores.espn.go.com/ncf/drivechart?g...9&confId=37 -
From an email I received from an LSU grad/fan: "All in all, UNT looked better than I thought they would. I was very impressed with the O-line and how they protected your QB. LSU’s defensive front 4 is considered to be one of the best. I thought we would have seen at least 5 sacks. The offense continued to drive. Things might be looking up…"

Tonight's Game Is A Tremendous Success If...
UNT 90 Grad replied to Fitzyrection's topic in Mean Green Football
I don't think we missed any XP's/FG's either. Is 2 for 5 bad? Unfortunately we only had 44 yards rushing, turned the ball over once, and only scored 3 points.
