  1. I'm not sure what the intended message was from this post. It says you listen, which I inferred to mean you listen on a regular basis, but you call out one night where there were stories about other universities, but not UNT. I'm assuming you are talking about the sports segment. One night isn't really a trend, though it looks like other posters are dog piling with the assumption that this is normal coverage. I listen to KNTU periodically on the way home, but not every night of the week. I've never had a problem with their coverage of UNT athletics. Yes, they do cover sports news outside of UNT, but when there is something newsworthy with UNT athletics, I've found it's usually covered too. It's a daily news show. The statue story didn't really break yesterday. The movie night story, from what I can tell, can only be validated through someone's recount of a twitter posting and isn't a sports story, though I suppose could have been reported in another segment if an unknown movie being shown in two months at the stadium is newsworthy right now. The Mitchell story came out on Monday, not yesterday. It wouldn't surprise me if it was covered on Monday. My two cents.
  2. It's not a list of schools that haven't cheated. It's a list of schools that haven't been found guilty of cheating. Just sayin'.
  3. I'll always remember Sam running with a raised talon on his way to a touchdown against Navy. He was taken way too soon. So tragic.
  4. Didn't he wind up getting a red shirt for last year anyway? Could he have taken two redshirts in a row? Looking for a response from one of our red shirt experts. Is this even worth complaining about anymore or is it just too tempting to continue the Dodge Dogpile?
  5. I am UNT 90 Grad and I approve this message.
  6. Just heard it again. (I promise... no more updates on each time I hear it.) It's just weird hearing Craig Miller promoting UNT.
  7. Just heard George and Junior do a live promo for purchasing Mean Green season tickets. Had good copy points about the caliber of teams we'll be playing, McCarney, stadium, etc.
  8. No significant experience. He did lead an impressive drive against ASU a couple years ago, correct? If not anything else, that should have done something for his confidence. I can't remember how well he did in his limited action against Army last year.
  9. After reading this thread, I went out and got a copy. (Actually my wife got it for me since it's Father's Day and all.) There is a nice picture of Craig Robertson on page 25 within the Recruiting Review section.
  10. I sent the experiencethenewmeangreen.com link earlier in the week to the guy that does the Helmet Project website, letting him know about the new helmets. Others may have done the same. My guess is that this was enough for him to use to update the site.
  11. The basis for what North Texas hopes will be a lasting tradition began on a day when a group graduates considered a simple question. Why isn’t there an eagle in Fouts Field, anyway? James Stinson was there that day in the summer of 2008 at Y.O. Ranch Steakhouse in Dallas with five other members of the Geezles, a social fraternity full of former UNT athletes that disbanded in 1970. “I said it was a shame,” Stinson said. “When we were in school, our fraternity house had a big eagle. We decided that we should see about getting an eagle for the new stadium.” That discussion hatched a project that will come to fruition this fall. When UNT opens its new football stadium, it will feature an eagle statue that will help recognize the rich history of the Geezles, who hope the sculpture will also help set the tone for the future of the program. The fraternity, which includes former NFL players Ray Renfro, legendary coaches such as G.A. Moore and community figures such as John Guyer and Billy Ryan, raised the money to have the statue built. The bronze eagle bust that will stand about 5 feet tall and weigh around 225 pounds will sit in the players’ entrance to the new Mean Green stadium that will open Sept. 10 when UNT hosts Houston. UNT adopted “Mean Green” as its nickname in the time since the Geezles were a prominent campus group, but the school has retained the eagle as its mascot. Links to Brett's articles about the statue and its origin: http://meangreenblog.dentonrc.com/archives/2011/06/a-story-on-a-great-project-for.html http://www.dentonrc.com/sharedcontent/dws/drc/sports/stories/DRC_Geezles_statue_0619.3d442620f.html On a side note, according to the the second article, the call of an eagle is "KEE", not "CAW". Someone alert the Green Brigade.
  12. UNT is showing the Indiana game at 6pm CST.
  13. I'm going if I can. It's looking like I'm either going to have to miss that game or the FAU home game. I'm hoping things change and I can go to both. (dang kid commitments)
  14. The title of this thread is misleading. Signs don't even have tounges.
  15. Here are links to the two lists I'd looked at: http://www.meangreensports.com/SportSelect.dbml?&DB_OEM_ID=1800&SPID=562&SPSID=9051 http://www.experiencethenewmeangreen.com/coaching-staff (click on Mike Canales, of course) I'm not trying to stir anything up. I just wondered if I'd missed something. The "Experience the New Mean Green" site just came up recently and mentions nothing about the Associate Head Coach title. His bio page was last touched in January. I'm not sure when the "Coaching" page was last updated on meangreensports.com.
  16. Okay. Did he lose that title? I can't find it used anywhere, but they include Assitant HC for Quartaro. I'm looking at the coaching lists on meangreensports.com and experiencethenewmeangreen.com.
  17. Maybe one of you know the answer to this. McCarney's first hire was Mike Canales. At the time of the hire, I thought he named him Assistant Head Coach and Offensive Coordinator. Everything I read now only has Canales as Offensive Coordinator and Nick Quartaro as Wide Receiver and Assistant Head Coach. Was there a change? I really like Canales' pasion and what he was able to do with the team in his short stint as Interim Head Coach last year. If there was a change, I hope Canales is good with it and will be here and successful for a long time. I apologize if this was discussed previously and I missed it. I think the titles have been the way they are now for a while.
  18. That's the first one that came to my mind too.
  19. Check out this website. According to them, there are 60 colleges that use the nickname "Eagles" (including UNT since it is still our official mascot). Only one that uses "Mean Green" and one that uses "Mean Green Eagles". (Both UNT of course.) I'm a bit distracted by how the list was last updated on 7/7/2011, but that's a different issue. It wasn't that long ago that we had two "Aggies" teams and two "Indians" teams all in the Sun Belt.
  20. Notre Dame Ohio OSU OU Nebraska Missouri Baylor ... From what I can tell, all of their stadiums have walkways. If you count the handicap seating, the Mean Green Stadium walkway starts at about the 15th row on the west side, ~19th row in the north end, and ~25th row on the east side. As another poster stated, the placement of the walkway was driven by the grade of the land, with Mean Green Stadium being built on the side of a hill. At least we don't have a bunch of wasted concourse space with ramps like we had at Fouts. I don't have a problem with the walkways. Now, in the voice of Ty Pennington: ADMINS, MOVE THIS THREAD!
  21. I'm pretty sure Dodge helped with game attendance (although no one could have helped with the Thanksgiving weekend fridged WKU game).
  22. These look awesome! I wonder why they have a deadline for ordering. Seems like this could just be a new item they carry on meangreengear.com. Maybe they are expecting a bunch to have to make and the deadline is to ensure they are ready in time for September 10th.
  23. Yes. That's the 800 number for the UNT ticket office.
  24. They just played it again.
  25. The camera is back up again. All is well with the world. I wonder if there was some covert construction work taking place in the wee hours of the morning that they didn't want any of us to see.
