  1. I'm going to have to make a trip back to Denton to get some more posters. I gave my last one to the GM at the Plucker's on Lovers in Dallas over lunch. He said he just had to run it past his marketing person tomorrow and then would hang it. He seemed sincere because he wanted to talk about some of the games on the schedule and showed me where he plans to hang it. This is great to me because this location is a few blocks from SMU and is decorated in SMU artifacts, minus the token UT jersey on the wall.
  2. Wouldn't you then start having the basketball players start living at Victory Hall? That way they are closer to the practice facility as well as to all the other athletic amenities over there. I'm assuming that's the plan. I'm guessing they'll put basketball offices at the practice facility as well.
  3. I think the sound system and lighting are in need of replacement prior to the video board, IMO.
  4. Will we hear the return of the Peach Basket this year? (...or is that "inconceivable"?)
  5. So how many times has North Texas opened the season against the previous year's national champion? How does that compare to other schools? Seems like we've done this a lot over the years. Anyone feel like a trivia research project?
  6. Great job as always. I'm excited to get this back into my Wednesday night rotation. I wish I was able to listen and chat live last night.
  7. It'd be great if UNT at least formed a relationship with one of the area zoos and their eagles. I'd like to see a program where students would study the birds and help care for them. It'd be cool to then see some sort of signage at the zoo by the eagle aviary that called this out.
  8. I think you'd be out of luck. I've read from multiple sources that in order to get a permit to keep a bald eagle in captivity, you have to prove that the bird is permanently injured and couldn't safely return to the wild. I guess maybe you could find one with bad talon issues, but could still fly.
  9. These are usually streamed on ESPN3. On a side note, ULM must be projected as a big fan interest this year, seeing that they are featured in three different SBC games of the week. [sarcasm]
  10. "Kick Off Cookout Is Set For August 18th University of North Texas DENTON, Texas (7/31/12) - North Texas Athletics will host the seventh-annual Kick Off Cookout at Apogee Stadium on Saturday, Aug. 18 from 6 - 8 p.m. This event is free and open to the public. North Texas football players and coaches will be on hand to sign autographs and visit with Mean Green fans. The event will take place primarily in the West Concourse of the stadium which also features the Mean Green Gear Stadium Store and the Ticket Office. Each of which will be open that evening to serve interested clientele. Hot dogs and soft drinks will be sold for $1. Alternative beverages will also be available for purchase. Tables and chairs will be provided in the concourse and attendees will be encouraged to view the club level area as well as the West reserved sideline and North wing general admission seating areas if desired. Parking will be available in the lots at the North, West, and South sides of the stadium at 1251 South Bonnie Brae. Parking will also be available in the grass lots across South Bonnie Brae from the North Texas Athletic Center, and additionally in the Victory Hall lot if necessary. Attendees are encouraged to enter through Gate 2 of the West stadium adjacent to the athletic ticket office. In order for Mean Green Concessions to adequately prepare for food service, participants are requested to RSVP no later than Wednesday, Aug. 15 to AthMarketing@unt.edu. For additional info please call the North Texas Ticket Office at 940-565-2527. What: 7th Annual North Texas Football Kick Off Cookout When: Saturday August 18 6-8 pm Where: Apogee Stadium 1251 South Bonnie Brae Street Enter at Gate 2 next to the Ticket Office on the West Concourse"
  11. "Kickoff Cookout set for August 18 Come join us for the 7th Annual Kickoff Cookout at Apogee Stadium from 6-8pm. Meet the Coaches, Players and more while enjoying $1 Hot Dogs & $1 Drinks. This event is free and open to the public." My guess is RV and Coach Mac will speak, players will sign autographs, and you can go onto the field and frolic around like a wee little girl.
  12. Thanks Brett. I look forward to the podcast!
  13. Vito needs to get all the details before the Barbershop Podcast tomorrow night.
  14. If I'm free that day, I'm in!
  15. Get the Green Out Day is really just the kickoff to the football schedule poster hanging season, which tapers off toward the end of the football season, overlapped by basketball schedule poster hanging season. Additional schedule posters available at the North Texas Ticket Office (or maybe by sweet talking KRAM1).
  16. Was it the one in the front window, the one in the side window by the drive through start, or the one on the wall in the back room where we have the watching parties? Say, did anyone take a poster to the Rudy's in Denton?
  17. Thor sits in section 106 on the other side of the field. I had no idea he could hurl a can of beer than far.
  18. From dallascowboys.com: "As much as we want to believe that there is a battle for this third running back job, it sounds like Lance Dunbar or Ed Wesley is going to have to have the camp of their young careers to take the job away from Phillip Tanner. The front office loves the way that Tanner goes about his job and what he brings to the roster on a daily basis. In their eyes, he is a complete back. The things I really respect about Tanner's game is his ability to pass protect. We all know that he can run the football and he catches the ball well but the mark of a third down back is his ability to do the dirty work. As important as Scandrick is to playing nickel corner, your third down back needs to be that same type of player that is a difference maker and Phillip Tanner has that type of ability to be a difference maker. "
  19. Football clinic, that is. Here are the highlights, assuming the link works from my phone this time.
  20. I believe the 5K is now in April.
  21. I had a great time and great conversations.
  22. Just one side. (North bound)
  23. I'm disappointed in myself because I didn't make it to the pavilion last year. It is for Alumni Association members and guests. The sell food and beverages (including beer) before the football games and shut down during the games (to encourage folks to go into the games). There are also TVs and giant fans. Personalized pavers surround the building. Someone correct me if I was off on any of the facts.
