  2. Again, the context of this game being brought up was to say that UNT didn't mail it in. They weren't pointing to this game as a sign of progress. Two very different things. RV was trying to combat all the talk that the players had given up on Benford's program by the end of the year. That's all.
  3. You weren't the only one. I talked to some other folks that felt the same way after the Caravans and hearing what RV and TB had to say about the season.
  4. UNT had wrapped up nothing to play for as well. The context around the discussion of this game at the Caravan was that UNT didn't mail it in, while people were speculating that the team wasn't buying into Benford's program and weren't trying to play for him. We missed you at that stop in your neck of the woods.
  5. Says who? Folks from the Athletic Dept. I talked to at the Coaches Caravan on Thusday seemed to think this was getting done before the 2013 season starts. They specifically said they were told it had to be done in order to have the games televised as part of the additional CUSA exposure.
  6. I figured we were drifting down the rickity road to the band pageantry discussion again. The point I was trying to make is that what's going on in Denton is much better than most in the metroplex think. Sure there is plenty of room for improvement, but the point I was trying to make is relevant to what many expect to find when the visit UNT. "Big Time" is far from what I believe they expect. But what they find is much much better than what they expect.
  7. I guess if you prefer making a "big time" drive to some place like Austin, and take a "big time" walk to the stadium from wherever you have to park to see a game you had to pay "big time" prices for, then yes, there may be better options for you. I think what we have at UNT is much more special than most in the metroplex realize, IMHO. Minikram...out.
  8. One interesting note from the Fort Worth stop. Those there might remember that there was a gentleman there that announced that he would double his Mean Green Club donation if North Texas beat UTEP. I've met this guy before. He has season club level seats near mid field, so I'm guessing his donation is already relatively significant. What makes this even more interesting is that he has no direct ties to UNT. He's from Southlake and grew attached to the program during the Dodge days. We need more fans like this. Similar to the recruits, if we can get people on campus (or in this case, to the games), we can get them hooked on the UNT experience.
  9. I don't care for the idea, but if it was going to happen, I think a series with TCU makes the most sense. That's the only school where the "neutral" site concept really applies since the schools are relatively equidistant from the Cotton Bowl. And if the goal is to give UNT games exposure to Dallas kids, you can't do that with a scrimmage. You have to have a true game day experience and you just won't get that with a game that means nothing.

  11. If I remember correctly from last night, RV said "We'll play Dilbert Elementary if it can get us to 27 wins."
  12. I hope to see a bunch of you tonight: Stop 2- DALLAS (click to register) Royal Oaks Country Club Tuesday, May 7, 2013 7915 Greenville Avenue 6-8 p.m. Dallas, TX 75231 214-691-6091 A couple notes from me from last night: The top 100 basketball player that toured the campus was from Plano, if I remember correctly. Regarding baseball, RV mentioned that the Lovelace family was actively involved in the committee (I think leading it) and had made significant contributions toward baseball at UNT. It was brought up in the context of things that are coming up soon for UNT athletics. No dates were given or anything like that.
  13. Come out and see Coach Mac tonight at the Coach's Caravan. It's being held at Apogee. No charge. Ask him whatever is on your mind, along with coaches from other sports.

  15. Ooops. I thought this thread was about UNT's Derek Thompson situation. Carry on. By the way, I just finished rewatching the DVR'd UNT/KSU game. I'd be happy if we have that Derek Thompson this year.
  16. I miss the Library and the Gravity Room.
  17. I'm thinking of heading to Jazzfest tomorrow with a couple of my kids in tow. Would they have fun? (Elementary school aged.)
