Great job, fellas. Good to hear from Evan. I feel like I haven't seen him on the board much lately. I'm trying not to get too excited about the uniform sale. My guess is that there will be a pretty hefty price tag. I look forward to seeing them on Monday. The baseball stadium concept sounds great. I wish there was more of an in-your-face financial campaign going on for it right now.

The eagle mascot was brought to life at the NT-Oklahoma Tech football game on October 6, 1950, when Denton merchant Tommy Laney presented No-Name, a live golden eagle (later discovered to be a Southeast Asian Sea Eagle). A contest was offered to name the new mascot, and Scrappy became the first bird at NT. After living at the NT Club House until spring, Scrappy moved to the Forest Park Zoo in Fort Worth until a permanent cage was built for him in fall 1951. In 1952, an American bald eagle with a 7-foot wingspan was donated by Warren S. Dill. Students named him Beaky in a February 1952 election. But 540 students quickly signed a petition opposing the name. A runoff election took place and Victor won. Victor would have been the first American bald eagle for NT, but he died of heat exhaustion in August before making an appearance. Scrappy returned to NT making special appearances from 1952 until he died in 1959. In 1960, a new golden eagle was acquired and named Victor. Then the federal government offered NT an American bald eagle in 1962. The bird, named Scrappy, died before it could be transferred to NT. In 1963, Mr. Eagle became the first human eagle mascot provided by the NT Marching Band. Marching band director Maurice McAdow and Mrs. Helen Wright of the School of Business Administration designed the costume. It was made of leather and plastic with a chicken wire and paper mache head. Eric Brewster, assistant drum major, "flew" into the stadium for the first NT game of the season. In 1967, Talons purchased a matched pair of crested serpent eagles, christened Scrappy II and Scrappy III. Housed at the Fort Worth Zoo, Talons brought one of the eagles to each home game. I noticed that we have this scheduled the same day as the Kickoff Cookout. I'm not sure if I'll be able to make two trips to Denton that day. I may just try to snag posters at the cookout.

My point was that this is a saying that's been around for a long time. One shouldn't jump on the makers of the video regarding the logic of the saying just because one is distracted from the meaning.

We'll be having watching parties at Fairview Down Under for most (maybe all) road games. They said they'd show the broadcasted home games too. In these instances, the games will be projected on a big screen that can be seen throughout the restaurant. It will also be on several other TVs throughout. They will also have the audio from the games playing instead of music. Fairview Down Under is in The Village at Fairview, Stacy Rd. @ US 75.

I work in downtown Dallas and live in Allen. The weekday complaint is a tired excuse for most, not a reason...no offense.

You know, after attending the Mean Green Club reception on Wednesday, it would be easy to draw the opposite conclusion. It was standing room only and I only recall seeing one person that looked under 35 that wasn't staff or children. I'm sure there were others, but that's all I recall. Dissappointing. And it's not a financial thing. The Mean Green Club offers amazing discounts for recent grads. Could just be that alums from different generations get connected in different ways.

I think even the WKU 33 degrees in the rain game had more than 200. There might have even been 3 times that many.
