  1. I'll see your Joe Vandal: And raise you the FTD delivery guy:
  2. Time to put on your creative hats. http://www.govandals.com/SportSelect.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=17100&SPID=10352&SPSID=87198 No offense to the Vandal fans that have been engaged here. This is an annual tradition for us. Marius Burgsmueller
  3. Then catch a bite to eat at the State Club right before seeing some live music at the Gravity Room. If you don't like the music they have, take a short walk to the Library. (Note to visitors: these places no longer exist either.)
  4. Gotta say, I sort of agree with Plumm to some extent. I don't give Dodge the credit directly, but the hope Dodge brought rejuvenated the excitement toward UNT football as seen by the jump in ticket sales and donors. I think this helped with the student vote. Does the vote pass if Dodge wasn't hired and downward trending Dickey stayed (giving us no real feeling of change)? We'll never know.
  5. Great job! By the way, I noticed Mixlr has an iPhone app. You can Follow the podcasts on it.
  6. We did a basketball watching party at the McKinney BWW a few years back when we played Texas Tech. They were great. They even had green and white helium balloons attached to the tables when we showed up.
  7. Got 'em today!
  8. I might try it once or twice. I'd have to drive to Plano, take the DART to downtown Dallas, switch trains, switch again to the ATrain, then catch the shuttle. Might be a beating.
  9. I think they purposely left the word "Cookout" out of the event name this year for good reason. The good news was all the food was free! The not as good news was that the only food was ice cream and popcorn. I agree that attendance was much better when we had the opportunity to pick up season tickets. I know they've tried different things over the years. I'd hate to see this go away. Hopefully some things were learned and improvements will be made for next year.
  10. Just learned that they are also going to have a $7 Mactini (Grey Goose martini).
  11. As posted before, as part of the volunteer work I do for the Mean Green Club and the NT Alumni Association, I'll be organizing football watching parties again this year, this time at a restaurant/bar called Fairview Down Under in Fairview, TX. (Fairview is between Allen and McKinney off of US 75.) As part of the drink specials Fairview Down Under is putting together for us, in addition to the $12 buckets of beer, they have 3 green drinks that they'll be selling to Mean Green fans for $3 each. Our mission is to NAME THOSE DRINKS! The recipes for each are: 1. Melon Liquor, Pineapple Juice, and Vodka 2. Splash Melon, Vodka, Triple Sec, Splash Roses Lime Juice 3. Apple Puckers, Whiskey, Splash Sweet N Sour Put on your thinking caps and post your name ideas here. Be sure and specify if your name idea is specifically tied to one of the three. I'll be the judge and pick the top 3 names. You'll be able to watch North Texas Football at Fairview Down Under for the following games: 9/7 @ Ohio 9/14 vs. Ball State 10/5 @ Tulane 10/19 @ Louisiana Tech 10/26 @ Southern Miss 10/31 vs. Rice 11/30 @ Tulsa Once the 9/21 Georgia game time is announced, if there is TV or Internet coverage, we'll have that game available at Fairview Down Under as well.
  12. I'll be happy when the Idaho game is behind us so that I can read about different teams' practices.
  13. I agree. Actually, the reason my post was edited was because I initially had something very similar in my post. The reason I removed it was because we've seen him have success throwing the long ball. We've seen him have success marching the team down the field against top 15 teams. I think he can do it, he just hasn't shown he can do it consistently. Is consistency a God given talent? Maybe. I TOTALLY agree with the Meager-Vizza comparison. I've been having that feeling all summer.
  14. I was disappointed to get rejected by Ralley House. They let me hang one last year, but they said that now they are pickier about stuff like that, now that they "have a CEO and stuff like that". The manager did say that she supports UNT and wished things could work out so that they could carry our stuff again. Note: this was the Fairview location. I did have success at Plucker's in Allen and Fairview Down Under.
  15. Right. The Dodge years = the good ole days.
  16. Really? If that's DT's fault, I think it implies he doesn't work hard enough at improving. I've never heard that feedback on Derek. I've heard the opposite. If you ask me, if he's giving it his all but not progressing, that's on Canales, not Thompson's fault.
  17. I went by the DENTON BICYCLE CENTER this evening and picked one of these flags up after the Kickoff event at Apogee. This is a great deal! I'd spent time today at the Apogee store and at Voertman's. The flag at the Denton Bicycle Center is of much better quality at a much better price. You all need to go pick one of these up at Joe's place before they are gone.
  18. Awesome work! Two trips to Denton in one day was just going to be too much for me. I plan on snagging my share of posters at the Kickoff celebration in a bit and doing my part to make pockets of Collin County green! Again, thanks to all that worked on this today. I have a lot of respect for folks that support the university by donating your time.
  19. Free sodas and popcorn. It didn't mention what (if anything) they'd be selling.
  20. Unless you are playing EA Sports NCAA Football.
  21. http://www.meangreensports.com/sports/m-footbl/spec-rel/062509aaa.html
  22. He needs to stay healthy. I hope Means eats his Greens.
  23. I liked seeing Abbe and Lincoln next to each other.
