  1. It's a question of engagement in athletics. I have neighbors on both sides of me in Allen with Baylor garden flags in front of their house. I'm pretty sure I'm the only one with a North Texas flag flying in the entire subdivision. What percentage of UNT alumni follow UNT athletics vs the same for Baylor? I dunno. The same question can be asked about students.
  2. Regarding the return trip, the last train heading back departs Mockingbird Station at 12.27am. Make sure to get on the Red Line. The Orange Line only goes as far as LBJ on the weekends.
  3. Looking to ride the train from Collin County to the SMU game? Anyone and everyone are welcome to meet at Vickery Park in historic downtown Plano. Vickery Park is located at 1101 E. 15th Street in Plano, right around the corner from the downtown Plano DART train station. (Coming from US 75 Central Expressway, just take the 15th Street exit in Plano and head east to downtown Plano.) Let's meet at Vickery Park around 2pm for pre-tailgate food and drinks. We can then march around the corner to the train station and catch the 2:31 train, which will have us to Mockingbird Station at 2:57pm. Local train tickets are $5 and cover you for the day. The North Texas Mean Green Tailgate starts at 3pm (tickets are $20 in advance through the North Texas Ticket office or $30 at the gate). Feel free to hang out at Vickery Park later if you don't plan to tailgate prior to the game. To make it there by game time, you probably want to catch the 5:11pm train at the latest, which gets you to Mockingbird Station at 5:37pm, giving you about 20 minutes to get to your seats at Ford Field. There is gameday shuttle bus service from Mockingbird Station starting at 6am that concludes 1 hour post game. Post here if you think you might join us. RSVP not necessary to attend.
  4. There are a lot of engaged Baylor alums and families in the D/FW area. They don't have to "travel" well when they play here.
  5. UNT turns every street without a sidewalk into a potential victim.
  6. WTAMU <> Texas A&M Commerce. (Canyon vs. Commerce, respectively)
  7. The schedule just makes for a better story line when we win the conference championship. Right? Who's with me?!? (Snkckers - breakfast of champions)
  8. I predict mediocrity. He needs to focus on family first, school second, and football third. My belief is that he did what he should have done and set his priorities this way while at UNT, which didn't leave enough time to put in the work to be a successful FBS QB. A QB's physical assets have to be balanced with knowing their program like the back of their hand, and that takes a lot of study time. (Make fun of Canales' tests all you want.). One can never completely compensate for the other. This is isn't a knock against Dajon. I believe he doesn't have enough time in the day between school and a young baby plus trying to be a college QB, if his priorities are right. We'll see.
  9. This is true. There are several cool bars and whatnot by the downtown Plano station. There isn't really anything by the Parker Road station, unless you want to hang out in the 7-Eleven parking lot. Regarding downtown Plano, I'm organizing something at Vickery Park. I organized a UNT football watching party there last year. Good beers and food. They have a popular brunch on Saturdays. TVs to catch some of the early games. The train station is right around the corner. I haven't landed on a meet up time yet. The manager is supposed to call me tonight.
  10. This...as well as drown out their she'll-be-comin'-round-the-mountain fight song from the Mr. Peppermint band, though we likely won't be hearing much of that anyway.
  11. I agree. To the average person, this is no worse than playing Middle Tennessee or F(I or A)U. The true fan knows the difference, but would be going to the game regardless. IMHO.
  12. I'm still working on the pre-train-to-tailgate activity at Vickery Park in historic downtown Plano. They supposedly have a very popular brunch on Saturdays. The manager is supposed to call me back tomorrow. The general plan is for Mean Green fans in that neck of the woods to meet up at Vickery Park for some lunch/brunch and drinks as well as possibly catching some early games on the TVs prior to catching the DART train (right by Vickery Park) to Mockingbird Station. It's an easy walk from Mockingbird station to the SMU campus. Should still be plenty of time to catch the North Texas tailgates.
  13. Got it. I legitimately wasn't sure if you thought they weren't dressed up enough or something (though using the term "pageantry" was obviously chosen for you). I've been to each of these (but won't be there this time thanks to the Alumni Association Collin County Steering Committee meeting being the same night), always in my Mean Green attire. I just didn't recall being surprised at a lack of green or North Texas flair. I've never been to a Lion's Club meeting or an IOOF meeting, so I'm not sure how they normally dress. Thanks for the clarification.
  14. I was at the Rally House in Fairview this afternoon. Not much selection at all for UNT. The store manager mentioned that she was just hassling their merchandiser today about how sad it was that they had such a small selection for a school only 35 minutes away.
  15. I'm confused about what this means. Not enough pageantry in the attire??
  16. Occupy Klyde Warren Park?
  17. Mark. Im proud to know you. You are an inspiration to many of us. Thanks for all you do. Now we need to see if Ashton can put together a hope-you-had-the-time-of-your-life tribute video to play at the ceremony in your absence.
  18. I'm hoping the white gets chrome green SOW wings ala Oregon / old Rice / Philly Eagles.

  20. Anybody else notice that the practice helmets are now green as of today?
  21. I was one of those that started a NTSU and graduated from UNT. This definitely was a topic of conversation and knee slappin'. We were all kids at the time. Ah youth.
  22. Not me, but if I remember right, there seemed to be more uncertainty about Thompson being a starter than there has been for McNulty this year. They even took Thompson's Captain designation away going into the '13 season.
