  1. So you've misused and misunderstood some numbers during the Reagan years, but that is ok cause most liberals have. I'll just try to help get this straight for you. And yes, by the way I would rather give my money to companies then to the government with less restrictions on those companies. To understand the national debt you need to look at GDP and understander how the two relate. Most often people just look at one or the other which doesn't give you the complete picture. In 1980 when Reagan took office our GDP was $2.79 trillion and the debt was 32.6% of the GDP. In his final year of office, 1988, the GDP was $5.1 trillion and the debt was 51% of the GDP. GDP increased by 82% in 8 years under Reagan. So while the debt did increase from 32.6% to 51% during the same 8 years it actually only increased 59% relative to the whole economy, not 300% as you stated. So while liberals love to throw that number out there it is technically wrong. Yes the debt went from $909 billion to $2.857 trillion but when you look at the whole picture it was only a 59% increase, again not a 300% increase. And even though that is still a high increase we need to look at why that happen. Military spending went up for a little something called the Cold War, which we won under Reagan. Democrats were still in power in Congress. Even though they promised not to spend more money they still did, going on a wild spending spree by going over President Reagan. Unemployment... Reagan came in and in January 1981 it was 7.5% then peeked to 10.8% in December 1982. Reagan's policies started taking place and since December 1982 it went down almost every single month until he left office and it was 5.4%. it continued to decrease even after he left. Sorry but you need to find a better stat to throw out there. I hope I have helped straighten it out for you and now for fun I offer up this video. http://youtu.be/3h8O7V-WxWQ
  2. My favorite quote from Congressman Burgess is please don't call me Congressman, call me Doctor, doctor's have more respect.
  3. Harry Reid has single-handedly brought the democratic process to a halt by not letting anything be discussed or debated or brought up for vote in the Senate. Where is the Senate democrat's budget proposal so we can at least take a look at it and talk about it? They haven't put one out in years. To me its a ridiculous theory to raise taxes. Lets give the politicians in D.C. more money to waste and spend on programs that do not accomplish what they are suppose to accomplish. Not to mention it is kind of hard to keep raising taxes on your tax base when all it does is put them out of work or make them want to fold up their companies if they are owners. What the other side doesn't see is lower taxes = more jobs = more people making money by working = larger tax base so you end up with more revenue but at a lower tax rate. Win win for all, and you can do that along with cuts and then you can achieve a true "balanced" budget. People who don't want a drastically smaller government, talk about increasing taxes, don't want to reduce government regulation, don't want to close the border and bring control to it, believes in climate change, doesn't want English as our official language, doesn't acknowledge that this is a Christian nation built on Christian principals, doesn't want to drill on our own land and are okay with buying their oil from the Middle East are die-hard extreme liberals to me. See it can work both ways and I bet you don't like being called extreme. Thank God we can at least all agree that the Mean Green is the team to support.
  4. Just look at 3rd quarter fund raising numbers as the best indicator to see what the results will be. Sadler raised $350k to Cruz who raised $3.5 million. Sadler's debate performances have been just embarrassing for him and eliminating certain departments from our government is a great place to start. Airlines can manage their own security and there is no reason to have the TSA in place which does nothing except waste our money and still let’s people slip through who shouldn't slip through. Take SFO for example, they have a private company manage their airport security. It is very efficient, much better success rate of not letting the wrong people through, cheaper, and much shorter wait time for passengers because of efficiency. The same could be said about the Department of Education, education needs to be managed at the local level.
  5. Stop trying to bring common sense into the conversation Gabe, you know that as a college kid you thought it was funny.
  6. I was with some friends who were talking about this story this weekend and saying how out of line the cop was. After seeing the video I couldn't disagree more. When asked to show your ID you show it, period. He probably would have looked at it then let her on her way in under a minute. She deserved it and it makes me mad how people see this and turn it into this cop is a bad person like my friends, but these friends of mine also believe 9/11 is an inside job and that every politician, police officer, or small time government official are involved in some conspiracy theory to take over the world. Listening to Alex Jones will do that to you.
  7. Well I unfollowed Josh from my Twitter acount. I don't want to read that crap from fellow alumni. The first tweet was bad enough but him sending out another tweet during the game celebrating a LSU touchdown against his school is what pushed me over the edge.
  8. I feel bad for not really know who Jamize was until all this Cowboys stuff started happening. I looked him up on last year’s roster and he is listed as a WR but in obviously in the pros is trying to make it as a RB. Wonder how he came to that decision. And nothing on him playing in 2011. Maybe that is why I just don't recall him. Jamize's profile: http://www.meangreen...0&Q_SEASON=2011
  9. And the Sun Belt is off to a strong start... I hate to see this. We have to be confrence champions on our way out!
  10. I agree with Emmitt, just cancel it at this point. The whole weekend is already ruined anyways. My friends and I who were planning on going then going on to New Orleans aren't going to be able to do that now obviously. Even if it is clear and better people who left will be starting to come back and I just see the whole state as one big traffic jam mess.
  11. I already miss mean green gear. No polos...?
  12. http://www.wfaa.com/news/local/Man-in-crane-causes-concern-on-SMU-campus-155087075.html The gentleman is no longer with us... fell to his death over night.
  13. Didn't they send up a sniper in a helicopter? Did he miss?
  14. If I was near there I would go buy one of each koozie to support the store.
  15. I wonder if the same fans that emailed the president and AD demanding they resign will now send emails apologizing to them.
  16. The hills of Kentucky and possible snow is way better then sunny south beach.
  17. I am always up for any road trips. I just need to get out of this weekend job of mine by next fall. Thanks for clearing that up, I wasn't thinking about Denver being gone now and having a smaller conference so they would change things up.
  18. There is no way in hell the Sun Belt schedules WKU to Denton in our final year of the conference. Guess we'll plan one last trip to Bowling Green.
  19. A 19 game conference schedule seems resonable to me too. Playing the other division alternating home/away would make the most sense and in basketball everyone should play each other at least once IMO.
  20. Any information out there on how C-USA and the future basketball schedule will work? Do we play all teams twice or just west teams twice and east teams once. With a 14 team conference I can see how not all schools will play each other. I am looking forward to trips to Norfolk but realize we wont be going there that often for either football or basketball.
  21. I like Nashville but I want a city that I know our fans will drive to, like New Orleans. I don't see many of our fans driving to Nashville therefore I would support some place like New Orleans.
  22. MeanGreenSoHo and I will be there
  23. I am all for picking one place and going there every year, like Hot Springs
